“My girlfriend found this place on the internet so we tried it out while we were in Southport , the place was quiet due to the fact the Champions league final was on and everyone was in the bars! As soon as we walked in we were made to feel as home by the gaffer, he couldn't do enough for us! The food was good and so was the Turkish beer, we chose different dishes from the Greek, Turkish and Spanish tapas menu and left full to the brim. The bill was a reasonable price too. We were very impressed by the interior of this restaurant and by the lovely painted Murals on the wall of different parts of the med. We had a lovely time and would recommend a visit here!”

“We went for my husband's birthday and had the set lunch menu. The food was incredible, the featherblade beef wow! Lunch menu was great value for money and we really enjoyed the whole experience.”

“The menu is great. Many options that you won't easily find together somewhere else. We got a Chateaubriand which is served for 2, and it was great as medium cooked. I would prefer it in thinner slices, but this one was also OK. Juicy, soft, and pink inside. We also got sides of Slow-Cooked Beef Shin and Stuffed Bone Marrow. Bone Marrow could be too fatty for some, but for me it was great as is. Beef Shin was a bit sweet, of being caramelized, i guess. I just didn't like that every single thing in the menu is served with some big amount of grilled/fried onion which I think is the signature of the venue. It was with every single thing we ordered - and it's too much of it at the end. With the desserts, they have quite a lot options again. we got creme brule and biscuit torte. Biscuit torte was a bit too sweet but creme brule was amazing. You also have options of ordering mini-desserts with hot drink costing only 6.50 and I liked this opiton. What I ordered was a full size of it and I guess it might be too big for some after eating that much. What I didn't like regarding the venue is the service which makes you wait quite a long time for only asking for your order. It was too much of allowance for us to think :) Also, we have been seated to a table which was dark due to the lamp which wasn't working. I was told that the lamp was broken for some reason whan I asked that to be turned off - because it was just too dark without that working. And I didn't like that the staff had me seated there knowing it wasn't working while we had some other options. We had been seated to somewhere else then. The price is higher than most of the steak houses in the city, but for an understandable reason after having this experience. You can park your cark in the parking area of the court cross the street. Not an effort to complain for walking to the venue from the parking area.”

The service was lovely too, everyone was really friendly and on it. The drinks were a highlight as well! There was a new bartender that night but you wouldn’t have guessed he made some seriously good cocktails. Overall just a really good vibe, great food, great drinks, great people. “Another fabulous Sunday lunch at Dons! My husband and I loved the perfect lamb shank roast dinner followed by probably the best tiramisu i've ever tasted.. 2 courses £21.95. Always a Warm welcome, efficient and friendly pretty christmas decorations, twinkling all around us helped us to get into the festive mood. We miss Pepe of course but it was lovely to meet Raymondo. Paddy and the rest of the staff always look after us. If you havent been lately I Highly Recommend. I believe Don's is the best Italian food around and is fresh and homemade from scratch. “Really nice public house in an historic building within the town walls; they also have their own onsite micro-brewery with four of their ales on tap when we visited all of which were excellent. The staff are friendly and as we piled in as a group of eight they did their best to accommodate us despite us not having a booking (we had been let down by another pub in Chester that accepted our booking but when we arrived they stated that they didn’t have any room for us) , both for tables and food. The food was very well cooked with a good choice including vegan meals. All in all, a very nicely ran pub with pleasant staff, good ales and food; what more can you ask for?”
