“What a lovely little quirky gem of a pub. Everything inside has been up-cycled re-cycled and is fascinating. Some comfy seating, some chairs are ex old style cinema and old airplanes seat. The bar staff are so friendly Ben is great! And it's dog friendly. Just a stone throw away from the beach.”

“Traveled with family for a short visit (4 days) to St Helens and the surrounding area. Had a wonderful stay. Was greeted by friendly staff (Paige and Jacob) who were very helpful and informative as I had a lot of questions. I unfortunately fell sick, however the staff at the inn were friendly and accommodating. Went the extra mile to help me into town to get to the pharmacy (thank you Jacob). We had a total of 5 meals here (as I couldn't be asked to take a trip out) and they were all delicious. We were lucky enough to be here during a menu change so we had a lot of variety. Would recommend.”

“Visited as a group of 7 friends and had Pippa serving us who was friendly, professional and a real asset to the pub. There was a bit of a mix up in the kitchen which delayed part of the order but once flagged the manager handled the situation really well and sorted things out for us. Live music and open fire made a great atmosphere - a little loud for us oldies who struggled to hear each other but there is another dining room which was much quieter so would request sitting there next time. Overall we are well with good sized portions. I had mushroom lasagna which was pretty good.”

“Absolutely incredible. Went for our anniversary tea ( 19/12/24)The Fox has just reopened under the management of Craig and Jo, just wow. The pub was bustling and busy, the staff were smiling and attentive. The food was incredible. We went for Nachos and Chicken strips, mains were proper home made lasagne and steak and ale pie. Too full for pudding but went in to the bar for a drink after, again bustling and smiling faces, the pub was cosy and warm. 10 out of 10 both of you. See you over Christmas”

“Better than toby and great price. My one criticism would be the meat is always on scraps when I arrive I'd also like to see pork on the menu. If you ask for the meat refreshed they will bring more out. Happy customer”

“Saturday lunchtime with the pug. Very good menu. Lots to choose from so it took a while. Partner had steak and ale pie and I had ham, egg and chips. All lovely. Huge outside area. Dog friendly. Will be back soon.”

“The Heart of Heswall The Dee View is the kind of establishment that every town needs, somewhere to go and be greeted by a welcoming face and friendly clientele The pub is decorated very tastefully, comfortable seating, clean modern toilets and a phenomenal outdoor area with views to die for over the Dee estuary Whilst they do not offer food, they have a policy where you can either bring food in or have it delivered and they are keen to provide plates, cutlery and a vast array of condiments on the house Let’s cut to the chase, other than the above why is this such a great venue, well it’s a pub and the beer quality, selection and snacks are exceptional, I would go on to say it’s the best Moretti and Guinness in town Give it a try, Charlie and Graham will be delighted to see you and a warm welcome will await”

“We went there for my cousin’s birthday celebrations with a small group of family and friends . We were put in a room at the end of the bar, so we were altogether and not disturbed by anyone else in the pub. The food buffet was very good and we had a great time and everyone enjoyed the afternoon celebrations. Thank you very much xx”

“Absolutely fantastic pub, can’t recommend enough! Visited recently and had such a great experience from start to finish. The atmosphere was warm and welcoming the moment we walked in, it’s got that perfect balance of cosy and lively without being too noisy. The staff were brilliant, friendly, attentive, and you could tell they genuinely cared about making sure everyone was looked after. The food was way above standard pub grub — everything came out fresh, hot, and full of flavour. You can really tell the chefs take pride in what they do. Drinks were spot on too — a great selection of beers, cocktails, and spirits at reasonable prices. Every detail felt well thought out, from the music and lighting to how clean and tidy everything was. You can tell there’s real effort put into the place. All in all, it’s easily one of the best pubs I’ve been to in a while. Whether you’re after a chilled meal, a few drinks with friends, or a proper night out, this place has it covered. I’ll definitely be coming back soon!”

“Food came out quickly and based on other reviews we were a bit hesitant as they said the food was lackluster however we found the complete opposite. It was really good! A bit expensive at around £50 ish for two drinks and two burgers but the food was good nonetheless. Staff were friendly!”

The person behind the bar on our visit was only to happy to make suggestions or explain what ingredients were. Absolutely worth a visit. Had we not been half way through a mystery trail we were doing we wouldn't have moved for a few hours.”

“I had my baby shower here a few weeks ago and have only just got round to leaving a review. We had a massive party of people and received the best service we could have wished for. It seems to be under new management and I couldn't speak more highly of the staff and fantastic service we received. The food was amazing we all said we would come back for more! Drinks flowing all day, no service issues it was just perfect for my special day. Can't thank the team at Pioneer enough for making it such an amazing day! Can't wait to return!”
