“Couldn’t be a better experience and fantastic food!! Absolutely wonderful management, staff, service. From the first call to book, arriving, being seated right through to the end the service couldn’t have been better, could not have been more accommodating or kinder. The food was incredible. The decor and garden excellent all round. Would definitely recommend without any doubt.”

“A very warm welcome when we visited this historic pub. It has been refurbished and restyled to a very high standard, in keeping with the age of the property. The food was excellent, freshly cooked and served straight from the kitchen. Visitors and locals plus friendly dogs at ease near the log fires, no rush to leave and a totally relaxed ambience. Just the sort of pub we like added to which the owner and waitress spent time explaining their hopes for a gentlemen’s and ladies’ club to attract more clientele which they certainly deserve. We wish them well and will be back!”

“a few of us went for a themed evening. Friendly, knowledgeable staff. Great ambiance with the low cellings and reasonably priced drinks. The only thing against it, was not enough glasses! I am not sure if the glass washer broke down /too busy to wash up/or not enough in 1st place. Other than that a great venue.”

“Just come back from a weekend in West Witterings and are super pleased we found this pub. We went for dinner and it was so good popped back for lunch on Sunday too! You will need to book as it's clearly very popular. The menu has lots of variety and everything is cooked wonderfully. The atmosphere is cosy and welcoming and also very dog friendly, which was awesome for us as we were away with our dogs. We'll definitely be back.”

“Delicious food in this comfortable pub with plenty of outdoor space. Obviously popular as there is an overflow car park. The staff were friendly but we were left waiting a little too long to order. Not a great atmosphere but it was Wednesday evening, I'd return on the weekend when next in the area. Definitely worth a visit for the food.”

“Had the most wonderful couple of days staying here. The accommodation is really good, comfortable beds, very clean and fitted out very well. The food was really excellent both evening meals and breakfasts. Sam and the team made us feel very welcome, nothing was too much trouble. The pub is a very dog friendly place, we felt "underdressed" as we do not have a dog, but we made a few canine friends. For guests staying with dogs, there is l lovely grassed quadrangle for exercising the dogs. The pub is situated in a very rural location, the location is in a dark sky area, and for my hobby of astrophotography, absolutely ideal location. Most definitely will be coming back, hopefully for a few cloud free nights.”

“I stayed one night in May at the pub. The room was nice and clean and I had lunch, dinner and breakfast, which were all very good. The location is fine for visiting the town and Cathedral. I was arriving by train and walked to the hotel with a trolley. The staff was friendly and made me feel welcome. A great choice if you're travelling on your own: Lots of people in the restaurant and the pub.”

“We've been coming to this pub/restaurant for a while now and every time we visit we have such a lovely time. The food is incredible - always so delicious...a really thoughtful specials board too. The cocktail menu is fab and we love the fact that there are some different versions of the classics - the coriander marg is definitely one to try. Really friendly and attentive service and nothing is too much trouble. Lovely lovely place to spend some time and enjoy great seasonal (of which some is very local) food. “We were very impressed by the food and staff at the Earl of March today. We both had the scallops starter from the al a carte menu and the dish was perfectly cooked with delicious flavours We then each had an open sandwich, these were al a carte sandwiches at normal pub prices, I had Brie, beetroot and homemade pickle, my husband had beef, both came with pickled vegetables, remoulade and brilliant homemade chunky chips that as delicious as roast potatoes, the sandwiches were thoughtful, tasty and great value for money, even though we were full we couldn’t resist sharing the sticky toffee pudding dessert and we weren’t disappointed it was gooey but light, with great ice cream on a bed a crunch. The staff were friendly, there was a lovely fire burning and I expect we’ll be back.”

    Smokeys Ocean Bar

“Decided to try smokeys after eating at Nathan's 2 days before. So glad we did, we at around 15.30 after swimming so we managed to get some bits off the grazing menu. 4 kids had hot dogs £4.99 each 2 portion chips Lattice fries with fried eggs 1 Greek salad and extra Jacket Spud Filthy onion rings --- (so tasty would highly recommend) Brisket stacker 2 apple slaws Tasted really fresh and full of flavour, the brisket was melt in your mouth. Onion rings were really crunchy soft fresh onion in the middle (not mushy processed) and not over cooked! Hotdogs- they were tightly packed with meat loads of cheese sauce. Kids couldn't finish them. Salad - extremely fresh but possibly a little too much vinegar if I need to be critical. Lattice fries very tasty but the salsa makes them soggy very quick. (But still worth having ) not too spicy. Bill for all 7 people was around £80”
