“We did a takeaway. The chicken biryani and lamb biryani was amazing well spice and good portions. You could taste it was cooked traditionally in a Tandoori oven. The onion Baji and pashwari naan was fresh and tasty. I could not fault them they also ensure that my allergies were catered for.”

“One of the best shawarmas in the city. Very friendly, jovial and polite staff. Restaurant itself is small in capacity with 4 tables. Air conditioning kept the place really cool on the hot summer afternoon. I tried the small chicken shawarma. The chicken was nicely grilled and You get to choose the fillings / salad. Choose the sauce. Personally , I loved their mint sauce . And done. It’s quite filling for one adult. Very economical at 3.5gbp for a small yet filling shawarma sandwich.”

“Update. Ashoka continues to be our favourite Indian restaurant in Sheffield. This evening we enjoyed great service, freshly cooked super flavoursome food in a really relaxed and friendly environment-Another lovely evening at the Ashoka. Beautifully cooked and presented Indian food, served in a small and lively venue. The lamb chops were the most tender I have ever eaten, and the Taxi driver curry was really rich and tasty. The Nan breads were a perfect accompaniment to mop up the sauce. Also a good selection of beers.”

“Wow! Lovely meal just now. This was the best meal weve had there, the papadum sauces were different to what we had last time, my peshawar nan was stuffed full and I recommend the king prawn jinga. Beautiful. Saaj is a lovely bloke and all the staff were nice too. I have been here multiple times over probably 20 years and that must say something about the place. It's been around forever and for good reason”

“Tha food is wonderful, however, it's cash only, make sure you ask for your receipt or you won't get one. Service when we went there last week, was slow and I'm not totally sure how to describe the two guys working the tables, one was really nice, the other though was pleasant, but not sure about him! We were 8, 6 adults one 5 year old and a baby, and we were a loud group, so maybe he had reservations about us. We did have a lovely evening despite my gripes.”

“I booked our work do here to have on Saturday 13th December, so obviously a busy time of the year. From the point of booking, to the pre orders, to the arrival and the dining, it was superb. Fantastic staff, organisation the British army would be proud of and absolutely superb food. I had never been to Viraaj before but will definitely now be a regular, any place that caters for 18 people perfectly when they are already full has definitely got something right. Thank you”
