“What can I say? Excellent beer, staff and Landlord, Clive, are second to none. A proper small town back Street pub”
“This is probably the nicest pub I've ever been in, if I lived in this town I would live here. Craft beers, real ales, great selection of gin, amazing environment. Well done.”
“We visited the Combermere Arms as a group the night before our wedding down the road at Combermere Abbey. Everything was fantastic! The team were wonderfully accommodating after we had emailed to make arrangements. The food and service were fantastic and we were so well looked after. The menu had a brilliant range of dishes with lots of gluten free options (1 coeliac guest) and we would definitely love to visit again to sample more. The vibe of the pub was just lovely and the atmosphere was perfect.”
“2024 went for 40th birthday meal and the staff were very accommodating, helpful and efficient. Food is just as delicious as always and never disappoints! 2023 - Super friendly and helpful staff, always a guaranteed pleaser with the food. Really enjoyed the flavours, depth and taste of everything. Starters were crispy no grease and the mains portions are always generous.”
“Went for the New Year’s Eve dining experience and have to say it was superb in every way. The food serving was excellent, the setting, second to none with great service, attentive and courteous. Congratulations to all. This is one of our favourite places!”
“Stopped for a meal and a quick pint when passing through. Was extremely busy there were enough staff to ensure nobody is left waiting. Staff were all extremely pleasant and welcoming. I really enjoyed the food. A deveng variety. J went with my partner and kids - all are fussy eaters but there was something for everyone. Prices of meals varied between around 15 and 18 quid, steak a bit more. Really good value for money with the quality and size of the meals provided”
“We always pass by this area when travelling for work. So while driving back we just decided to stop for a meal, and we were not dissappointed. It was packed on a sunday and we tried our luck for a walk in and we were seated quite quick so a big plus for the staff. At first we thought it was a bit pricey but when food arrived the serving was hefty, it was good for almost 2 people and the taste was just gorgeous. Never have I had that roast potato as crunchy in the outside and fluffy in the inside. The triple cooked chips was really good and the vegetables as well.. might be popping back if we have the chance.”
“Beautiful country pub! We had a family dinner here, 15 of us across 4 generations, and it was excellent for all of us! The staff were attentive, despite it being a busy Sunday afternoon, with lots of other groups in too. What a beautiful, atmospheric place! Welcoming, clean, accessible, and busy - we'll definitely be back again soon.”
“Had an amazing time here! our food was amazing really nice one of the better places around. Additional mention for our server Amy! Who actually is a credit to the owners. Attentive and actually cared. Lovely place easily recommend.”
“A superb, stylish, cosy modern ambiance with warm, friendly and inviting staff. My Mum and Dad kindly took me there for a birthday meal and the entire experience was delightful. The menu was so good I found it extremely difficult to make a choice but when I did, the food arrived in a timely fashion and was absolutely delicious. They clearly have an excellent chef/team of chefs because the standard of the food really was excellent. Each course was of an exceptional quality and was certainly able to justify the price range. The white chocolate cookie dough with caramelised bananas, ice cream and toffee dessert was, in both mine and my Mum’s opinion, one of the best desserts we’d tasted in a long time. Truly divine. The staff were the epitome of professionalism, attentive and friendly; willing to engage in a bit of banter as well as providing excellent service. I can’t recommend this restaurant enough. It’s well worth the money.”
“Great food and service Loved the Guinea Fowl with Orange & Cranberry Sauce The veg was generously sized and al dente Hats off to the chefs ! Fantastic variety of Unique Ales and Wines I’m not sure who sourced all of these ales but they’re very resourceful lol I loved the Bitburger shandy ( low alcohol but very fruity taste ) Will definitely revisit soon Ps the High Leigh locals are so so friendly as well”
“The food here is lovely and I think it's just about the nicest beer garden I've ever been in - incredibly pretty. Well worth a trip.”
“Super village social club.Went to see a friends band play there.Great well kept ales.Service friendly and efficient and it was absolutely packed,so big pat on the back to them.”
“I had the 16-hour smoked ribs here, and what a delight! The meat was beautifully tender, with that deep smoky flavour that comes from real slow cooking. The char and bark held their own without overpowering the natural porkiness.”
“Went past this place today and saw it was back open so decided nip in for a pint & some food. Absolutely thrilled we did! From the moment we walked in we were welcomed by friendly staff, a warm atmosphere and felt right at home. We had our new born with us so always a worry when she starts to play up but the staff/other customers made us feel right at ease. The food was incredible, we had the steak & Stilton pie which was spot on. Thank you for such a lovely afternoon and will 100% be back again!!”
“Lovely friendly pub, great staff, great selection and quality of beers and some excellent food. Relaxed but higher-end gastro that welcomed us despite having been out walking all day. Will definitely go back!”
“Driving from Glasgow to South Wales we (4) needed somewhere with great food and great real ale for a relaxed stop in mid afternoon. Just less than 3 miles from junction 17 M6 we phoned ahead to make sure the opening hours hadn't changed and what ales were available. A charming girl confirmed 4 ale selections and that the kitchen was open all day until 8pm. We arrived at 14.15 and were seated near the bar. The food was second to none. Piping hot and fresh, local and delicious. Exceptional value. We were told the pub had been in the same family for over 30 years and Jake, the owners' son, was obviously clearly passionate about his role in the business and his ale husbandry. One of the most perfect stops we have ever made and would return in a heartbeat.”
“Ate in the bar for a family meal . Always offered a bread roll whilst waiting for food. Home made chips are delicious would go to eat just for those. Plenty of choice on the menu . Portion size of meals good .Staff lovely.Have booked restaurant for a retirement meal. Better to book in advance as can get busy.”
“An absolutely beautiful 7 course meal. We couldn’t fault anything. 5 stars ⭐️ isn’t enough for this fantastic place. My only one regret is, all the staff signed a birthday card for Lucy, and she forgot to pick it up. She was gutted on our way home.”
“Perfect service, nice menu, good price, friendly, dogs friendly... Parking”
“We booked a spa day for four of us in November and loved every second. The facilities were immaculate, spacious and varied. There was so much to do and most importantly, the spa wasn't packed ridiculously full so you could actually enjoy it. The drinks, food and service were all great and the treatment was fantastic. Genuinely couldn't fault the team working and the spa itself, it was beautiful and the team were constantly walking round tidying blankets etc. and as you couldn't reserve the large beds, there was always availability too. I think the one slight issue (and this is being really picky) was that there was nowhere for the towels to dry so they ended up soaking wet by the end of the day but it's the smallest issue and didn't affect our enjoyment of the day at all. We're already looking at a date to come back.”
“Another great meal! First one in the new location, a lot bigger but still has that welcoming feeling. Had the set menu which has a great choice, I asked for extra meat in my pasta dish and they happily obliged. The waiter who served us was so pleasant and attentive. Will ALWAYS recommend Robertos!”
“Lovely little place for some really good food, and the sticky toffee pudding got glowing reviews all around with the lovely cream. The steak was cooked perfectly and a nice bit of meat can’t complain and recommend to all”
“Greeted by a very friendly owner who immediately made us feel welcome. Everything was explained perfectly. Our motorhome pitch was easy to locate with electric and water easy to connect. Shower and toilet was spotless. We used the pub and ate one of their incredible homemade pies. The pub was very busy and a friendly atmosphere. Thanks very much for letting us stay there. We wouldn’t hesitate to return. Unfortunately I had to watch West Ham get beaten by the owners team on the Camp TV Entertainment. Never mind”
“Couldn’t really fault it. Excellent beer, great service. Traditional style pub very close to the train station. Friendly to away fans. Will return if ever in stoke. 40 minutes from the football ground.”
“Friendliest staff ever! So many laughs with Pauline! What a legend! Such good food! Clean and fresh rooms! What a great place to drop in to for a night and be treated so well!”
“Had a spontaneous Monday lunch at the Boars. The food, service and atmosphere was beautiful! We felt very festive and as always the chicken pie and belly pork was 10/10! Ella was very friendly and attentive. Already looking forward to our next visit! X”
“Good town centre pub with local atmosphere, good beer although selection can be a bit narrow. Very good place to stop for a pint when the Mrs is shopping”
“The outside area is a good place on a sunny day.”
“We came as a family group of 6 and a toddler for a 60th birthday party on Saturday evening. The food and service was excellent. I don’t know the name of the waitress but she was exceptional. It was very busy but she still managed to be efficient, calm and find time to listen and talk to us in addition to having to rearrange the tables for another party. Our booking was under the name of Shaw so please thank the amazing young lady.”
