“Found this cafe in The Lanes when looking for a nice breakfast before the drive home after staying at the Leonardo hotel. Cracking little place, great coffee and pastries. Excellent, friendly service.”

“quite an unassuming little place nestled in the business of george street, there was nobody in there as i was passing at lunch time however had previously read online that they do good food. i had the chicken club burger and oh my goodness, i don't say this lightly, but that was the BEST burger i have ever had! delicious home made chips as well. it was a perfect little spot in the sunshine people watching, eating gorgeous food. if you're at that end of town definitely give it a try! the chef & girl at the till were lovely too, very attentive.”

“We went here for our anniversary dinner, wonderful food and service! We had the duck and lamb, both very tender and juicy. For starters we had the duck roll and scallops, I normally don’t enjoy seafood which I always find “fishy” but I loved the scallop, complemented by the sauce/puree that goes with it. For dessert we had the mango cheesecake, not the most impressive but not bad and would overall recommend this place !”

“I just love Beak. The beers are top-notch, never disappointed. The taproom itself is in one of the most unique places you can drink beer at, facing the white cliff under the perfect blue sky. Finished my Lewes beer mile here (pick up your card at any of four stops) and couldn't be more happy. Will be back next year for These Hills again (fingers crossed it will happen) and just thinking the area in front of the taproom could be used for the festival as well, sheltered by the cliff and with enough prepwork.”

“Unbelievably great hospitality and warm atmosphere by staff, especially at night it has a cozy and relaxed atmosphere. The food they serve is traditional english in the morning and traditional chinese in the afternoon evening. Best of both worlds!”

“Nativity was another outstanding performance from Trinity and their Youth Theatre. Professional with such a talented cast, both young and old(er). The youth theatre performances are always full of joy, talent and energy, but this was another level again. I don’t know how they do it!”

“I moved to Portslade in February and The Foghorn has become one of my favourite locals. I love ale and this place is heaven for that, straight from the barrel so every pint is fresh as a daisy. Tommy, Tim and all the staff are great too. They also have a great selection of wine and cider, friendly locals also add to the all round great vibe of the place. Proper pub!”

“My mother and I visited this place on the 09.10.25 during lunch time hours. We were greeted with a beautiful smile form a young lady that was very happy passionate and welcoming. She designated a very nice table with a good view by the window overlooking the best view. All other staff were very kind and attentive including the restaurant owner . The atmosphere was nice with great menu selection and very good music playing in the background. The young lady was efficient and always took care of my mother's needs and even spoke in my mother's mother tongue spanish. The food was great, always well presented and very delicious. We had alot of fish dishes and they were tasty and well cooked . Overall it was a very pleasant experience lovely restaurant very clean on a beautiful sunny day. Upon existing the restaurant we were very impressed with the kindness and professionalism of everyone working that day.Also the lady owner was actually near the entrance she very nicely spoke to us briefly with a smile and said our goodbyes. “Fantastic spot. Joe had a great perm and knew that he liked my pizza cold (the pizza is unreal)! Very vibey spot with a good seating outdoors and lots of games indoors. Highly recommend for either the accommodation upstairs, or if you just want a game of darts and a Smirnoff peach and lemonade.”

“THIS PLACE REALLY DESERVES 10 STARS. Before you enter, you’ll notice the place is beautifully decorated, colorful, and welcoming—and it truly is like that. Before we were seated, we had to wait about 3–5 minutes, but it was no problem at all. The staff here are very dedicated; they don’t try to upsell or do aggressive marketing—they just want customers to have the best food experience possible. My friend is gluten-free, and they took great care of this, asking about allergies, which is why the food preparation took quite a while. My friend needed a lot of advice, but the staff patiently explained everything, and we had a really great experience at this place. I ordered the Salmon & Horseradish and Bread, which was quite fitting for the slightly chilly weather. My friend ordered a Taco, which was very large, so it took us quite a while to finish eating. Also, the restrooms are very spacious and clean. We will definitely come back.”

“Have passed by here for years and not found time to stop. Made time today and had an amazing birthday meal. Curry goat was amazing, my wife's pork chop was enormous, tender and beautifully cooked. My son's steak gorgeous and apparently the cheeseburger was the best my daughter has ever had. Fantastic staff too, so friendly and happy to answer any queries. Great local beers too. Great to see a small local place so busy”

“We had a table booked for 7:30 Wednesday 14th August for 4 people. We were seated in the courtyard and it was beautiful outside under the Jumbrella - the temperature was perfect : 3 of us had the chicken skewers to start and the chicken was so well cooked it easily came off of the skewer and the garlic butter was to die for. The other had the sharing platter for 2 (the fish one) it was a perfect size for a starter and for one person even though the rest of us “helped him out” . Portion sizes perfect. For mains we had 3 steaks and the surf and turf. Really generous portion sizes, quick service, food was DIVINE it was a shame to finish. We all had the same desert the chocolate mousse choux bun and even though nobody really had room for them they went down very easily!!! We will DEFINITELY return. The manager and all of the team were so attentive, friendly and professional it was a delight to be served by them. We loved the fact that it is a dog friendly restaurant and wish that there were more restaurants like this! Keep up the good work!”

“Lovely Ale house. The London Black is a great pint and serves well. Lovely to be in a pub where people chat as there isn't music and TV. (Apart from the live band nights) Really enjoyed it , will be back and not only for the London black. (Didn't mean to go all dr Seuss).”
