“There are lots of good walks near Hinton Charterhouse. I would recommend that, like us, you make the Stag your pit-stop of choice. The welcome is always warm and the food is really excellent. My friend had a Cajun Chicken and prawn special, which he said was delicious. Because I know how good it is, I went for ‘Old faithful’ - ham, 2 eggs and chips. It was to-die-for, as always. Home cooked ham packed with flavour, tender as you like, thick carved and plentiful; oh, and runny eggs! It’s a sensational lunch. It won’t be long before we find ourselves back here, I’m sure. UPDATE - We just visited for a Sunday roast. I can honestly say it’s probably the best pub roast I’ve ever had. You certainly won’t leave hungry. Highly recommended!”
“The best Italian pizza I had in yeeears. Sooo good. Really looking forward to a have taste when I am in the area again.”
“Lovely pub. Each and every staff member are a credit to the company. We ate twice in the week we were down in the area for Pirate Mania I would certainly recommend it to any one who's staying in the area.”
“Exquisite Experience and food lives here. Menu was a valentine menu which might be different from the norms. As a gourmet, I cannot fault all of the food and service that was served to me during my time here. Traveled 1hr30min to dine here and I wasn’t disappointed at all. I shall be back and I deeply recommend.”
“Had a lovely lunch here today. Service was friendly and welcoming, food was delicious, tasted fresh and authentic. About to move to the area so will definitely be coming back!”
“Great old pub with lots of atmosphere!”
“This is a great Indian restaurant with bags of atmosphere and great service. I've been to this restaurant many times over the past 20 years and always had a good meal. It would be nice to see some imported bottled beers as well.”
“Very friendly staff. I drove 12 miles to try their carvery. Worth every mile. Best beef I've ever had. Veg good well too. The price is good too. Well worth a visit.”
“Went for lunch. First time there , the pub is very cosy and welcoming. Landlord was very friendly. The food was excellent would definitely go back and would definitely recommend”

We were staying at Cheddar Woods for the weekend and popped out to meet friends to raise a glass for my daughters 21st ... we all like cider so seemed like it was the place for us :) ..... Really cosy and quirky place .... warm fire ... the lushest dogs .... Staff & regular's all made us feel welcome and our pet dog Eve loved it too .... Had fab pizza's and burgers - timed it wrong as had to leave just before live music started! Will definitely return and 100% recommend ... wish we had a local like this .... Thank you for your hospitality :)”
“Lovely meet out for our anniversary. Food was insane. Loved the little touch at the end with the desert. Lovely surprise and really topped an already super experience. Thank you Belinda for looking after us. X”
“Excellent birthday lunch! Brilliant service from our friendly sever Pom - she was very attentive and even asked about our visit and surprised me with a birthday treat! Steak was very tasty and cooked just right. Will definitely be returning!”
“What an incredible find. We spotted this on socials and made a plan to visit. It did not disappoint. The starters were amazing, wine delicious but the steak platter for 4 was immense. Cooked perfectly with complimenting sauces. We could not move afterwards!”
“AMAZING. Truly authentic food from Kerala. Small menu, therefore you know it is good. Great prices too, paid £32 for four courses with beer for two people. The food was incredible, so flavorful and spicy and wonderful. Nearly every customer in there was of Indian descent too and they spoke Malayalam. Unfortunately not super vegetarian friendly. Can only recommend, would love to go again. 10/10”
“This was our first time visiting this restaurant, though we have previously dined at their other location in Clifton near Prince Victoria Street. The setting is lovely, but let’s talk about the food. Some dishes were visually stunning and packed with flavor, while others were just okay. We tried the Carbonara, which I personally loved, though some of my family members weren’t as keen on it. For starters, we had the arancini, which were absolutely delicious. As for dessert—oh my God—the tiramisu was hands down the best I’ve had. It’s a bit fluffier than usual, but I loved it. Definitely a must-try! We also had the Italian donuts, which were very enjoyable. Service was decent but could use some improvement. One issue was the delay in receiving our dessert—it took quite a while after we ordered, which isn’t ideal. Ideally, desserts should arrive within 7-10 minutes to keep the dining experience smooth. Overall, I’d definitely recommend visiting, and whatever you do, don’t skip the tiramisu!”
“It was absolutely brilliant! Our server today, Barbara, was wonderful, and I highly recommend the Millers Steakhouse Dirty Burger – it’s amazing.”
“Visited for the first time on a Tuesday lunchtime. The food was beautifully cooked and the service was perfect. We were recommended by a family member and will definitely visit again!”
“Absolutely delicious food, ate outside on an early spring evening and it was perfect. My husband had the Goan curry packed full of mussels, prawns and Hake, he said it was really tasty. Must return to try eating in the restaurant. Thanks lovely people x”
“This place has been our number one favourite in Bristol! We have loved this place ever since we discovered it almost 10 years ago and we can never stop coming back! We especially love coming here for special occasions! The atmosphere is wonderful, the staff are also so kind and accomodating- Jerome in particular continually provides us with excellent service. As soon as we enter the restaurant Jerome and the rest of the staff never fail to make us feel welcome! The food is authentic and well presented, the King Prawn Linguine in particular is our family favourite! Each time we dine at Don Giovanni its always a memorable experience!”
“Fantastic Sunday roast - the beef was great, great portions and excellent value (£18.50 was an absolute steal compared to many other places in Bristol!) - service was friendly, and the food, whilst it did take a while to come, was worth the wait. Make sure you book in advance to get a table!”
“Excellent meal with great service. Came away very happy! Husband and I had 12oz sirloins and daughter had the 6oz kids sirloin. Absolutely delicious. We had mac and cheese, triple cooked chips, onion rings, creamed spinach and sweet potato fries as sides. All genuinely brilliant. Biscoff cheesecake for pudding was very tasty and not too heavy. Excellent portion sizes for price. Pleasant service. BBF on cask and a few keg options. Wish we lived nearer!”
“Absolutely brilliant. The whole experience from start to finish was amazing. From the initial greeting, grand tour and room in the amazing gardens - wow! This hotel is set in magnificent grounds. I am actually out of superlatives! On top of all this the staff are brilliant. Most of them seem very young but are a credit to the Pig Group. We had a wonderful stay and enjoyed every aspect. Thanks for the birthday cookies!”
“Lovely Afternoon Tea Experience in the Heart of Bath We visited this location for Afternoon Tea and had a really beautiful experience. We arrived around 2:30 PM and were lucky to catch a live piano concert, which added an elegant touch to the atmosphere. The standard Afternoon Tea menu was around £100 for two people, which felt fair considering the amount of food included. There is plenty to eat — definitely more sweet than savoury — but everything was fresh and nicely presented. The service was very kind and attentive, and the interior is absolutely charming. One of the highlights is the back rooms, where the walls display the history of the place and its connection to the Roman Baths. It’s actually linked to the Pump Room, and if you choose to visit the Pump Room and then the Roman Baths afterwards, you can skip the main queue, which is a great bonus. Overall, if you’re visiting Bath and want a traditional Afternoon Tea in a beautiful and historic setting, I definitely recommend this place.”
“Friendly staff. The set menu is pretty good. Steak was not bad and the sides were top notch. The jus/gravy was to die for. House wine with the set menu was excellent, well chosen whoever was responsible. Quick service.”
“Visited for the first time as was recommended by family and it was amazing The starters were great value with plenty of choice. Silly me forgot to take a picture of them before stuffing as smelt and looked so good. Main courses came out and were so big value for money great flavours in the lasagne the seafood lingie what can I say the flavours were out of this world very big prawns. Defently be paying another visit there and would recommend as service was great and value for money. Thank you”
“For our anniversary, my wife and I ventured to Hat Bistro, a family-run gem that stole our hearts (and taste buds!). From the moment we walked in, the warmth and hospitality were undeniable. We were lucky enough to be seated at the chef's table as well. The entire wait staff deserves a standing ovation. Our waitress was an absolute star, guiding us through the menu with genuine enthusiasm and attentiveness. Her recommendations were spot-on, and her friendly demeanour made the whole experience even more enjoyable. The barman was equally fantastic, crafting cocktails that perfectly complemented our meal. But the true star of the show was the food itself. Each dish was a revelation of fresh, authentic flavours. It was clear that love and passion went into every creation. We lingered over every bite, savouring the moment and the delicious food. Hat Bistro isn't just a restaurant; it's an experience. It's the perfect place to celebrate a special occasion or simply enjoy a delightful evening out. If you're looking for incredible food, impeccable service, and a warm, inviting atmosphere, look no further. We can't wait to return!”
“Food delicious, staff attentive and excellent VFM. Enjoyed our dance group Sunday supper because of all of the above. Terrific”
“Pretty decent food for a good price, I had a milkshake and burger. The chips were fantastic and so was the milkshake! The burger was decent too. The main takeaway from eating here was the atmosphere was really quite nice in my opinion. It was busy and the decor was awesome! The service was decent but the kitchen is quite small so food did take some time to come out. But if your not in a rush its worth a visit.”
“Lovely little pub in a sleepy village on the outskirts of Bath. My partner and I stayed for one night and it felt really homely and comfortable. The staff were friendly and attentive and the room was spacious, clean, and cozy. The bed was so comfy too! Highly recommend for anyone visiting the area.”
“We took my parents to the Elder for a very belated Christmas present and it was a fantastic evening in so many ways: some of the best food we’ve ever had combined with very attentive but relaxed service with a smile. We thoroughly enjoyed it from start to finish and felt very well looked after. Every course felt like a treat. We look forward to returning sometime soon.”
