βWOW, what a treasure of a find. A good friend found Muirhall Farm Cottages when we were looking at places to stay on a recent fishing trip. The owner, Tracy has such great taste, an eye for detail and is a wonderful host. The Shire Cottage was outstanding, the quality of the build and furnishings are second to none. The properties are very well maintained and actually feel new. It is the perfect retreat. So much so I have booked to go back with the family. It is a place you will want to return to time and time again.β
βVery nice one-bedroom cottage. It consists of a very comfortable large bed, with a mirrored wardrobe and drawer space. The kitchen has a ceramic hob, oven, grill, microwave, washing machine, and dishwasher. The living space has comfortable seating, a tv, and a dining area. There is a train station close by within 5 minutes drive. It has free parking. If the parking is full, there is a large car park about 15 minutes away. It is a 30- 40 minute train journey into Edinburgh Waverley.β
βEverything was great. Cleand and well organised rooms and bathrooms( nice clean and modern). Amazing system of how the rooms work (had a team meeting that lasted too long and went to my room at 23:00 and i was able to just walk in due to the way the rooms work). The best experience for an amazing decent price. If i'll ever be in Edinburgh again i will definitely come back here.β
βOnly 150 meters from the Haymarket railway station! Beautiful rooms, nice atmosphere.β
βAs a regular in the Caledonia bar, we went for a family meal tonight to the An Doca restaurant and we were pleasantly surprised. The restaurant was set up well, with nice views. Service was excellent, an extensive and varied selection of food. Between us we sampled both the chicken and cauliflower pakora starters which were fantastic. Burgers were well filled, chicken skewers were delish and the portion sizes were very generous. A wee gem of a restaurant β¨οΈβ
βI stayed at the Fairway Hotel & Restaurant for four nights whilst on a course at a nearby training centre. Staff - All amazing. Mike (Manager) was awaiting my (late) arrival at 11pm, very a very professional and pleasant young man. Shirley saw to my breakfast every day, and remembered what I would have (soon as she seen me she popped the coffee machine on for my brew), and her breakfasts were delicious! Worth a special mention is that her Tattie Scones were prepared perfectly! Marty looked after my evening meals, and I enjoyed her chat and banter. Often coming over to check if I wanted "another prosecco". :) All three are a credit to the Fairway, and an asset to the hospitality industry. Room - The (family) room was okay, double bed and a single bed. The room was a little tired but clean and if you're just wanting a place to sleep it does the job. There's tea/coffee facilities in the room on a side unit, that can be doubled as a small desk but you've to sit on the bed to use. A lick of paint, some new sockets and mattresses and a small desk would make it an ideal room if you were working away. If I was down with family, it would of been fine, but would benefit from a little refresh. Food - The restaurant was excellent. I normally go for a burger if eating out, but I had Shirley had mentioned the steak pie on my first morning, so I thought I'd give it a bash. Delicious is an understatement. I had the burger the next night, before going for the steak pie again on night three. Haggis Bon Bons were my starter every night as they were also amazing. I'm not sure who the chef is, but they are a master in the kitchen. I have no doubt, if I'm ever in Bathgate, or the surrounding area, the Fairway is the only place I would go for food!β
βStayed here while travelling for business in Edinburgh For me, everything was perfectly adequate. Single person in a small boutique sized room. The access codes are easily managed, and the space was very quiet for good quality restβ
βFabulous small hotel! Absolutely lovely!! Large clean rooms! Front desk people are fabulous! Very helpful! Would definitely stay here again! Continental breakfast is wonderful. A lot of selection. Staff were wonderful!β
βFantastic hotel in the heart of Edinburgh! The room was spotless, cozy, and quiet, providing everything I needed for a comfortable stay. The location couldnβt be better for exploring the city, and the staff were friendly and attentive throughout. I highly recommend this place and would happily return.β
βWe got a whole room to ourselves and it was definitely worth it! Location is great and service was good. There are lots of restaurants and bars around. There was a party downstairs so if you want to go to bed early and in a quiet room maybe itβs not the best. But if you want to go out itβs perfect for you!β
βAmazing room with sea vew. Great design. Absolutely brilliant. Very friendly and helpful staff. Highly recommended.β
βBrilliant customer service. Booking dates became confused during booking process and although booking was non-refundable they were empathetic and sympathetic throughout. Highly recommended and will definately re-book.β
βA very calm and clean place with friendly staff. The room was bright and tidy, equipped with a hairdryer, iron, and a kettle with coffee and tea. Highly recommended.β
βWe recently stayed here for the weekend and the hotel was perfect! Clean and well set out. The service was amazing nothing is too much trouble for the friendly staff. Would definitely go back and stay againβ
βGreat option for a stay with easy access to the airport and city center via a bus stop right across the street, friendly staff, and beautiful rooms! Iβve already recommended to a friend, especially if youβre traveling in a group. We stayed in their larger room with 4 beds and it was a great change of pace at the end of our trip through Scotland.β
βWe had room 21 on the first floor that included 3x single beds and an ensuite. The beds were comfortable with additional blankets and pillows available upon request and an extra heater if needed although the central heating was mostly enough for us. There was plentiful hot water and a very good water pressure. The room was cleaned on a daily basis to a really good level. The ensuite was spacious enough for us and there is a communal toilet in the basement which is helpful and kept to a very good cleanliness level. We would definitely visit this hotel again and recommend it to others.β
βits was super clean , we loved itβ
βThis place is really good.. Love the environment here... It's very clean and tidy here always.. Aziz, the house manager works very hard to keep this place in this standards.. Very happy to have Aziz as a house manager,he is very polite, friendly and helpful..β
βWas warmly welcomed by Tracey on reception who was most helpful. Room was much better than expected for a 3 star hotel, very clean and fresh, decent shower, and fluffy towels. The bed was quite comfortable, could've used an extra pillow, but that's just my preference. Onsite restaurant ,Oscars, had a good choice to suit most palates, I particularly enjoyed the steak pie. Overall, a very nice stay, and I would stay there again in future.β
β(I booked my stay via Booking.com, and this review is also over there) First off, the staff. The staff here are absolutely fantastic, some of the most kind and helpful people I've ever met while staying somewhere. Thankfully there were no problems, but if there were then it's great to know that there are staff available 24/7. The room we stayed in was a family suite, it was huge, and most importantly comfortable. It was basically a full apartment. It had a nice shower room, living/dining area and a master bedroom. The living room had 2 sofa beds in so there was space for 6 people really, so for my family of 4 stay, we had ample space to be comfortable. The bedding was super clean, there were towels provided, and the pillows, they are feather and REALLY comfortable also. The location of this hotel is superb. It's next to a tram stop, bus stop, so it's easy to get to train stations, the zoo, castle, town and more within minutes. I've got to say, if/when I visit Edinburgh again, I'll certainly be staying here!β
βMaybe we were lucky and got a really nice room with windows, but had a lovely stay for a good price. Very clean, comfy beds and the bathrooms were better than expected for this kind of accom. We needed more towels in the room and communal toiletries in the bathrooms would have been nice but I understand this poses hygiene issues. Again judging from the other reviews maybe we were lucky but we also couldnβt hear our neighbours at all during the night.β
