“Can't fault it, clean, tidy, reasonable rates, great location for the surrounding area and fabulous staff who go the extra mile. Only drawback for some might be noise on a Friday or Saturday night but the rooms are over a pub, so no one should be surprised. I would recommend the bar too by the way.”
“We had a wonderful stay here at The Haymarket and Lairg Hotel. Friendly and informative staff. Our stay was out of season so it was lovely and peaceful which is what we wanted. There was a little hiccup with another guest but after a quick phone call to reception, the manager dealt with the issue quickly and personally and gave us the reassurance we needed. Breakfast was served quickly and fresh. Nice selection of cooked and continental items. Our en suit room was clean and tidy. It was equipped with essentials including an iron and a hairdryer and plenty of storage for our luggage. We also had a brochure detailing the many sights and attractions in and around Edinburgh in our room. We would 100% stay here again and may do so in the near future and bring our children with us. Thank you for a wonderful stay.”
“A lovely, cozy, quaint place to stay! The bar was lovely too! Only gripe: it's a bit misleading for them to say "free parking" when really, they have a couple spots in a narrow alley that are always full and very sketchy to get in, and if those spots are taken, get ready to pay £3.10 an hour on the street”
“Amazing staff/owners real sense of family could not do enough for you. Food great place looks really different from when last in. Really enjoyed my night here. Get along for Friday Steak night I'm definitely going back just for that! Drink prices really reasonable too. Thanks”
“Great experience with our stay! Preeti and Chelsea welcomed us at the reception for the check in with a great and positive attitude. For dinner we found great food at decent pricing and the service was really fast and food was delivered piping hot! At breakfast we had lots of options so there are options for all ages. All the staff and ambiance were great and welcoming, making us feel like we were customers since forever. I definitely recommend as the experience was a definition of hospitality and great service!”
“Our family celebrated a 90th birthday today in the Library. We could not fault the service we received from the staff. The choices from the menu were all enjoyed and were attractively presented. We highly recommend this venue for a special occasion. Thankyou to all”
“I had a very pleasant stay at this hotel. The room was well maintained and comfortable, the location was convenient, and the staff were professional and attentive. Overall, the experience met my expectations, and I would be happy to stay here again.”
“I stayed here for 2 nights and had a great time in Edinburgh! the location was amazing - scenic 30min walk to the castle/Old Town area, or buses/trams/train right outside. the room was very clean and warm, on a beautiful street with lots of cafes nearby. the staff are also really welcoming and helpful. i'd love to stay here again”
“Very handy location just off M8. Rooms are clean, food in restaurant for dinner and breakfast is great at good price. Very friendly staff. WiFi is terrible and staff don’t care, I assume they want you to buy the premium WiFi but in this day and age there’s no excuse for poor WiFi. Small detail. Bring and extension cord, there is no power by the bed to plug your phone charger in”
“Business trip, great sized room. Lovely location, peaceful and safe. Good was first class - really calming atmosphere. Staff couldn't do enough for you, would definitely go back.”
“Did exactly what it said on the tin. Simple accommodation but clean. Rooms are student fayre so minimalist but large study desks and comfortable double beds. Shared kitchens well appointed and spacious. Laundry on site and common room. Don't expect TV. Learn to talk to each other again!”
“Great modern apartment in old town Edinburgh. Central to everything you want. A little bit hard to find but very private in a busy area. Amazing view of Arthur's Seat from our top floor room. Made all the stairs worth it!”
“Cushy dwelling suited for the savvy traveller. Cheap, cosy rooms (£50 for a single Saturday night with breakfast). My room was in the basement and had a modern en suite shower. There was an endless dull noise from the stairs of a morning but that was my only complaint. Service is casual. I like casual. Casual is normal. I'd stay here again.”
“From the very beginning, we were warmly welcomed by the hotel owner – a very kind and friendly person. We had a pleasant conversation, which set a positive tone for our entire stay. The room was spotlessly clean, nicely decorated, and very cozy. We spent a lovely and relaxing time there. Later, we went for dinner and really enjoyed it – the food was delicious, and the staff in the restaurant were very friendly and attentive. In the morning, we had breakfast – a classic English breakfast served buffet-style, so we could help ourselves. Some hot dishes were brought to us by a kind lady, including tasty eggs, bacon, sausages, and other delicious items. Although we stayed only one night, we had a truly enjoyable experience. Five stars from us for the hospitality, cleanliness, comfort, and food. We definitely recommend this hotel to everyone!”
“This has to be the most loviest hotel I’ve stayed at. It felt like home and I have a heavy heart leaving here tomorrow, I don’t want to go. The staff are absolutely amazing the food 10 out of 10 the chips are to die for! The bed… best sleep ever altho I was here for work it felt like I was on holiday and nothing was to much for the staff very kind helpful and chatty. Like I say I do not want to go but all good things have to come to an end. But bank on it I will be back FACT … left a mark on my heart ❤️”
“I regularly go here for lunch or dinner with friends and family. There's nothing on the menu that I could criticise as I have enjoyed everything I have tried. The set menu has lots to choose from and is so reasonably priced. The staff are lovely and welcoming. Cant comment on the hotel itself as I haven't stayed. Thanks guys x”
“We had a great stay at the Old Waverly Hotel. First off, the beds were actually very comfortable (which I have found to be rare in Europe) and we were plenty warm. The rooms are so charming and had spectacular views of both the Castle and the Scott's memorial. Its centrally located and you can easily get to everywhere in a short walk. Service was great and the breakfast was delicious each morning. I would absolutely go back!”
“Great room and location. I had a reservation for a room for 3 persons. Our room had bunk beds, and a queen bed, super comfortable, and clean. We also, had a great view and the location was at a walkable distance to the old town as well as new Edinburgh.Customer service was great and price was affordable. Great place over all.”
“Excellent fish & chips in the bar. Found the dining lounge too noisy whenever I visit. Prices very reasonable & half price mains at selected times”
“Enjoyed a lovely family birthday dinner here. The food was great, they were happy to make adjustments for me as I have dietary issues. Our server Olivia McG even helped make suggestions to accommodate this and still have a full and great meal. She was very knowledgeable and patient which really helped me enjoy my experience. Birthday girl was well taken care of and the staff went out of thier way to make her feel special. Would definitely come back.”
“Easy to get to. Friendly staff. Good location with shops and food places nearby. Clean rooms”
“Great place to stay in Edinburgh. Clean, calm and cosy. Comfortable beds, fully equipped kitchen. Thanks!”
“Absouloutley beautiful hotel the owners go above and beyond to ensure your stay is the best it can be. Rooms are very clean modern and spacious and all within eaay access to the city centre”
“The Glenora is a lovely place to stay! The location is brilliant, very easy to get to, the breakfast was amazing and the prices are good too. It's a lovely building, very cool to stay when you're in a city like edinburgh, rather then some impersonal modern hotel.”
“Neat, clean and well organised. The owner is very kind and helpful. Too bad it's located on the top floor with a challenging staircase.”
“Without claims! Scottish coziness and warmth.”
