βWeβve used Take The Lead ever since Fozzy was 6 months old - initially for puppy training, then daycare and occasionally dog boarding overnight. The team are lovely and great people and Fozzy runs to meet them when they pick him up - we always know heβs in great hands! Highly recommended.β
βA beautiful house in a beautiful location. Owners are a delight and spent time chatting to me in the evening and the next day over breakfast. Loved my stay and would highly recommend this to anyone needing a room for the nightβ
βMy dog, Frank, has been going to Elliot for daycare for well over a year now, first on an ad hoc basis and now regularly twice a week. He loved Elliot from the first meeting and absolutely adores him now. He canβt wait to get in the door when we drop him off! Elliot is calm, friendly but also very professional. I feel completely reassured that when I drop Frank off he will be safe and happy until I pick him up. Everyday, I get photo updates of Frank having fun with his friends in the secure woodland and in Elliotβs large garden. Elliot has also gone out of his way to accommodate our changing circumstances. I donβt know what Frank and I would do without Elliot!β
βWe had an amazing stay. Hosts, the house itself and the location were beyond our expectations. Absolute Pearl among accommodation I have visited. Strongly reccommended for a small parties of around 12 People. Will be back soonβ
βGreat place, fantastic breakfast and friendly host. Thankyouβ
βStayed in Christmas cottage for one night as we had dinner at the Fat Duck. Perfect location for that as itβs just at the rear of the Hinds Head. Really cute cottage. Small but perfect for couples. Denise was so kind and friendly - what a welcome! Cottage has everything you need, including a well stocked fridge for breakfast the next day. IMO reasonably priced for what you get and what youβre about to fork out for dinner!β
βEnjoyed a 1 night stay when passing through the area. Everyone was friendly and the room was clean and comfortable. The included breakfast is basic but does add value and convenience. The room is also a good size.β
βLovely welcome and well prepared room. Excellent breakfast. Hostess, Rose, was super. Would definitely come again.β
βRaj is the most helpful landlord you will ever find. Very clean inside. (Don't be put off by the exterior. Very well decorated and maintained inside. My only slight problem, was the central heating, my room was a furnace, so slept with windows open, sorted. Well done Raj. Be seeing you again soon.β
βA great bass to be in Reading. All the facilities you would need when staying for a few days, better than a hotel and cheaper. Staff are great, especially Charlotte on recent. She is bubbly, friendly and personable and gives a bright welcome no matter what time it is!β
βLovely clean guest house in a great location for local and amenities . It has an added bonus of free car parking. The Silverdale Guest House is run by a family who seem to take great attention to make your stay a pleasurable one . I wouldn't hesitate to stay their again.β
βStayed for the night following a friend's birthday celebration. Warm welcome on check in and everything explained regarding breakfast and checking out. Beautiful large room for 2 of us to share, everything you could need to make a comfortable stay. Bathroom with a large walk in shower, looked fairly new and sparkling clean. Comfy beds and a fabulous breakfast in the morning. Perfectly poached eggs. The evening meal was lovely everyone was impressed with their choices and portion sizes were fabulous for the price. Staff were happy to add a candle to our friend's desert for us. Definitely would recommend and would stay again if in the area.β
βDate of stay: Sat 13 - Sun 14 Dec 2025. Great experience from booking to departure. Loads of parking space, staff helpful, polite & prompt on our arrival and booking us in. Room very clean, comfortable and well-appointed and at dinner and breakfast there was a great choice. Again, staff very attentive - orders taken shortly after being seated and food came quickly after that. No complaint whatsoever - a great stay/experience & we'll definitely be booking again. Only suggestion: would it be possible for some Electric Vehicle charging points to be installed please.β
βThis place does the best burgers by far in the area. Absolutely love the american style and fully intend to work through the whole menu - please keep doing what you're doing!β
βWe have just had another great evening. Everything was excellent. The welcome, the food and the super friendly service despite being so busy. Thank you all so much and look forward to our next visit!β
βCame to the restaurant tonight for my Birthday dinner with my daughter and neither of us could fault it . The food was beautifully cooked and presented and waitresses for great too. Thank you so muchβ
βAlice was amazing β great service from start to finish. This was our second visit, and the Hinds Head is now our go-to for any special occasion. Alice was especially great with my ADHD, making the whole experience even more comfortable. Highly recommend! Family of 7 Amelia my 2 yr old daughter loved the experience also .β
βIm not from Reading, so 1st visit. It is in a beautiful location and the pub was a proper traditional pub. Really nice crowd of people, different from London as people on different tables chatting away. The staff where great from arrival until leaving. Lots of dogs, and we had 2 dogs and the staff were very patient. Had the roast which was big and all the ingredients very fresh. I had the Guinness brownie too which was lovely. As an add on, on the Tuesday I realised I had left my sunglasses, speaking to Katie who works there they had been handed in so thank you whoever that was. And thanks Katie on helping me get them back to london to me. I look forward to then next visitβ
βFirst time having a carvery here and it was from a recommendation from my mum, who doesnβt usually like carveryβs. This was the best carvery weβve ever had. Great choice and really generous portions of meat. Friendly staff, good service and lovely atmosphere generally. Will definitely be backβ
βNineteen years ago, we held our wedding reception here, so returned on our anniversary for the night. The Inn has been updated sympathetically, and really enhanced. The room was quirky and well appointed, and the staff couldn't have been any better. Utterly friendly and helpful, and couldn't do enough for us. Supper was delicious, the chap making the cocktails was a delight, and breakfast was spot-on. We won't be leaving it nineteen years till the next visit.β
βHad a flyer through my door with great photo's of their Thai food, so I thought I would try them. I thought my Thai Green curry was pretty good but after having one from their menu I was amazed ! it was stunning, so good I went back the following week and then also with the girlfriend and then the following weekend with 2 friends, we were all very very impressed with the superb menu stunning food and great service, give them a try you will not be disappointed. βIβve been here twice now and the staff are really friendly and clearly a strong team. I had the truffle burger and chips option in the meal deal with the room and it was gorgeous. The burger was cooked just right, the chips crisp and fluffy, the mushroom done just right so it wasnβt leaking juice everywhere. Staff were attentive and genuinely seemed to take pride in the service they offered.β
βWhat a great find , quaint , charming in a beautiful setting , the room was modern with a studio style and the bathroom was wonderful ! We had breakfast on both days which was really cooked well and very good from a budget perspective . I would just like to say a special thank you to Peter the general manager for being a great host , and super helpful . The hotel is in a beautiful village with 3 great pubs , all in walking distance . " We shall be back " Steve and Dawnβ
βFound Ashbrook apartments after a search for a weekend hideaway in a wider area. Could not have been more pleasantly surprised. The village of Blewbury is absolutely idyllic and most probably a well kept secret by its inhabitants. The apartments form part of an old barn conversion and have been created very well. The forecourt/parking area is off the main road and the apartments are consequently quiet and secluded. Everything inside was clean and well thought out and the arrangements for the booking and communication could not have been better. Will definitely return when next in the area.β
βA fantastic place to stay. The staff were incredibly welcoming when we arrived. Had a quick drink whilst waiting for the room (we were early). Great selection of drinks on tap and in bottle. The room was clean and stocked with great facilities (coffee machine, TV, kettle etc etc). We went for a Sunday Roast that night. Although at 1st glance, it may seem expensive, for what you get it is very good value. Truly a huge meal with clearly high quality ingredients (how can you not love roast beef that are basically just 3 very good sized sirloin steaks). The continental breakfast was a lovely treat, showing up in a hamper. A perfect start to the day. There is lots of places nearby to see (we visited Henley-on-Thames and Hambledon Lock). Although the pub is not open Mon/Tues, the staff were more than happy to provide us with recommendations locally to eat. Very highly recommend and look forward to visiting in the future.β
βVery nice. Took about 45 minutes for my food to come out but friends came within 10 minutes. But tasted lovelyβ
βReally great experience.... Loved the food. I never knew I would like boiled baby potatoes like I did. Either I was very, very hungry or the food was just so very good! I am sure it is the latter as my wife confirmed her burger and sweet potato chips were the bomb too! Never knew we would find such a great meal in a place that was totally unknown to us until just a few weeks ago when we were invited to a birthday party in Marlow. Really highly recommend this pub/restaurant.β
βHad Sunday lunch at this attractive inn , great service and atmosphere. The roast beef was amazing and lovely veg. One of us had the Nut roast which was delicious. Good size portions. Would really recommend!β
βWe had a lovely night stay at this lovely hotel. The drive up to the house through the arch way of trees was beautiful. The gardens and views are perfect. The price was fantastic for staying in such a beautiful old historic building. The gardens are wonderful for a stroll after breakfast and thereβs a lovely old church In the grounds. It was quiet and peaceful. Food was good and plentiful. My only negative was the room where breakfast was served was very corporate and wished it could have been in the restaurant we ate in the evening as the views are so beautiful and a shame not to see it in the morning whilst eating our breakfast.β
βMy girlfriend and I loved our stay at The Miller of Manfield, in October. Breakfast was fantastic, the staff were super helpful and friendly, going above and beyond to make us comfortable. We loved the room, the retro-modern decor, the fantastic bathtub and the location, in the village. The pub and restaurant were also great places to come in the evening, with live music one night of our stay and a good atmosphere throughout.β
