“Went in without any expectation, but came out with a very pleasant surprise. The food is delicious, and as a south east asian, I am actually quite impressed by the authentic Thai flavour. We ordered a veg curry, Pad Thai, and Tom Yum Gai, and they all taste great. The restaurant owner is friendly as well. Truly a hidden gem!”

“What a fabulous little place !! We only stopped for a quick drink, late afternoon, so can't comment on evenings here, but we loved the place. Great selection of real ales, which apparently changes on a regular basis. Just sandwiches/light bites for food. Great decor. Friendly bar chap. Tucked away just at the back of the market square, so plenty of town carparks nearby. Will most definitely visit again.”

The chap behind the bar was keen to tell me about all the beers and the ethos of the place which was interesting. Great NE IPA on keg right now. Next I'm in Mansfield I'll drop in.”

“We had a lovely meal here a couple of days ago! The very friendly staff managed to fit our large group in (8 adults plus a high chair) with no bother. The menu has great variety and all of the food was really delicious and plentiful! We’re proper foodies and so weren’t sure what to expect, but everything we ordered (pies, chilli, fish and chips, hunters chicken and puddings) was really top notch.”

“We stopped for dinner at The Bull last night with my elderly and terminally ill greyhound Howard. I told the waitress about Howard and asked if they could bring us a plain sausage for him, fully expecting to pay for this. He loved the sausage. We thoroughly enjoyed our food and the pub quiz in a very relaxed and welcoming environment. At the end of the night I paid the bill and realised they had not charged me for the sausage. This was a lovely caring touch to end what would be Howard’s last night with us. I would personally like to say thank you to the personnel at The Bull for everything. We will definitely be back.”

“This pub is in a good location with a nice setting right in the gateway of the peak district. The Sunday roast and the dessert here was spot on, and the service is good and friendly. From the dining area, there is a pleasant view overlooking the surrounding scenery despite the carpark. Parking here isn't an issue, as the carpark is opposite and has plenty of space. There is also a play area and outdoor seating leading up the stairway to the entrance, with additional benches in the carpark.”

“I recently attended a presentation, which was hosted here, by Chris Potts about his experiences on HMS Glamorgan during 1982. It was a great evening at a lovely venue such as The Cross Keys is. We were served an absolutely gorgeous buffet half way through the evening which was well received. The staff were all very polite and efficient and at end of the evening it was my pleasure to meet the lovely owners, Tony and Hayley who went out of their way to make this a special evening. From another ex-Glamorgan, I too served on that great ship back in 1982, thankyou I will remember the evening with pleasure you are fine hosts!”

“Amazing food! I had the mac n cheese chips and salad, which was so good! My mum had small fry up which she really enjoyed especially finding a nice cafe that does tinned tomatoes and oatcakes is a plus. Staff really friendly and attentive. Will definitely be by go to cafe now.”

“Wow! To be honest this was an impromptu visit on the last night of our stay in the lovely Tideswell, and it’s a gem! Phoned up and Sal fitted us in on a table that was booked from 7:30pm… no problem. We took our own alcohol as advised by him on the phone. I had a Calzone and my wife one of the chicken specials. I finished my calzone which was so so delicious and so rare for me to do so. Two completely clean plates. The atmosphere was lovely and to be honest the sheer openness and friendliness of the front of house was amazing. It’s a shame we found this gem on our last night.”

“Went to castleton for a holiday and was so bored of eating pub food so decided to try 1530. The building was constructed in 1530 hence the name. I went there with my partner to have some quality time. The service, food, wine pairing and atmosphere was just so good. They even have some vegetarian options and that was a win for me! 10/10 would visit again if I’m back in castleton!”

“Lovely village pub at the end of a quiet lane. Although the rooms were fairly small inside, the atmosphere was quiet and not crowded. Service was always very fast and friendly, the food was cooked perfectly! No vegetarian options were on the menu but we contacted them in advance and were able to pre-order from a few options. This place was a great find and I'd definitely return.”

“A nice, small theatre venue with good views from most seats. We visited to watch a show and had no issues with our seats in Row P. The bar prices were reasonable and that staff were friendly when showing us to our seats. I would visit this theatre again if they had a production I wanted to see.”

“This was such an amazing find! My partner found this beauty by mistake when we were looking at going out for food at lunch and it was even better than expected! The food was amazing, choice was good (I'm veggy so always a tiny issue at times) and absolutely delicious. The staff couldn't be more welcoming and could not do enough to help. Plus, the view of the planes and the runway was amazing along with earwigging on the members there which was so interesting. We'll definitely be back!”
