“An ideal place for an afternoon of dog walking”

“Great little local park with an excellent cafe. Play stuff for kids. Pond for ducks etc. Play croquet or have a beer at Barringtons next door. There are events during summer and it has a very interesting history. Steam train passes by at the bottom. Whitworth Centre has all sorts of stuff and it also has a very interesting history. Blimey l sound like Steve Davies.”

“Great woodland with plenty of seating to enjoy the scenery and sounds of nature. Plenty of rough terrain so not suited to those who prefer smoother paths. Although there are some easier spots if you stay at the bottom. A lot of the best views are uphill though. Great place to explore, relax or have a picnic.”

“Popular with our granddaughters ; a lake to walk round, ducks and geese to feed. An exciting playground for toddlers to 10 year olds. A bridge for pooh sticks, chatty fishermen; a lovely afternoon.”

“Beautiful grounds! You could easily spend all day here in glorious weather. I’ll certainly be returning with a book and picnic basket. Please be aware it is £3 to park, whether you are a Blue Badge holder or not. Plenty of parking spaces. Highly recommended park to visit.”

“Great place to walk dogs, picnic and relax. Has a park and water splash area for children to enjoy. No dogs allowed in the park area. Water area only open seasonally and specific times. My daughter absolutely loved it here, great for young children.”

“Fantastic place to be in! Looks small on the outside but perfect planning/space management on the inside. Maybe an extractor is needed in the cafeteria area as it can be too smell clustered sometimes but other than that? Fantastic. I also love that it has women only gym, and the equipment in there are fab! Specifically targets areas we ladies might need help toning.”

“The country park is beautiful. Sadly the cafe is unbelievably banal and lacking in healthy & tasty food, plus closes early whilst the park is still active which is a massive missed opportunity, but maybe one day we can have both! All the nature on and around the water is really wonderful.”

“Great location for family, brilliant water feature play area. Climbing frames, swings open space for picnics. Toilets, cafe and ice cream parlour, lovely walk arond the lake, fishing, lovely scenery. Free parking, well maintained paths, this place is great for all ages, and short or longer stays and relaxkng days.”

“❤️ Lovely walk, clean and quiet. There is a fishing pond for those who fish, lots of little paths through woodland areas. Great place for a stroll, very scenic to say its in Barnsley town centre. Enjoyable for dog walkers, there are paths for when its wet, but gets muddy off the beacon track if you dont mind muddy feet. There are picnic benches around the pond, but the downside to this gorgeous place no rest room facilities along the way. There is also a skateboard park and plenty of parking.”

“We went to Ulley Country Park today, it rained slightly on and off but it was still very warm. The wildlife was fascinating, despite the weather making it seem hopeless. Today we saw Northern Lapwings and Chinese Geese (I believe) for the first time, alongside several kestrels (three of which got fairly close), moorhens, coots, great crested grebes, mallards, swans, greylag geese, canada geese, a little egret, what we believed was a gadwall and a potential terrapin on the edge of the water. We didn’t see a heron on this occasion, but we most likely will on our next visit. The parking closed a bit earlier than we planned to stay due to us arriving after the school run, but we ended up finding a near enough parking spot. The trail around was slightly difficult due to the trail moving away from the reservoir at one point due to private land, but we managed to see it all by going a different way to get to the other side. Overall, this is a great place for birdwatching or just an overall walk in nature.”

“Working near the reservoir. So see the Hawks and Buzzards. The geese are in full voice all day. Regular flyovers. Diog central... Wearing my cuddle hands out.”

“Good size park. Car parks were in good order. Some of the paths were in a state. Very very muddy. Area to let dogs off leads. A couple of parks. Lake that can be fished. Parking was free.”

“Love walking at Poulter. Loads of paths to choose from and some beautiful views. Usually really quiet and so peaceful”

“New member at Ravenfield ponds and very impressed. Nice people down there, very secluded and some fantastic condition fish. Had multiple Tench, Bream, Roach and a nice crucian all from."new pond" Can't wait to get down again!”

“What an absolutely amazing place Swim 4 Paws is and made all the more special with the care and attention from Alison and Nigel who go above and beyond to make it a great experience. Our 3 Spaniels love every minute and its packed full of fun and chaos. Whoever said you can't tire a spaniel out is wrong haha.”
