“Lovely little cafe. Staff very welcoming. Food is amazing I had the Nudja eggs, and a pistachio iced latte. Highly recommend a visit.”
“Beautiful location for a short or long walk depending your mood, so much to explore and see, we were here for a good few hours and saw interesting wildlife, bridges, weirs, remains of old buildings, cafe near the playground with public toilets next door”
“Best I've eaten. Everything freshly made to order, potatoes cut up right in front of you. The onion rings are unreal. GF loves the fish. The veggie options are great and George will batter anything you bring in. I'm a regular now.”
“Had a lovely afternoon tea as a birthday treat. The food was beautiful staff were friendly and helpful. A very nice experience and I would highly recommend this place”
“We hired Tickhill Alpacas for our Wedding in August 2025 and they truly made it a special day. Alan and Lenny stole the show and all our guests loved them! If you are looking for something unique and special, I would highly recommend hiring them for your special day. Karen organised every detail we required and Dean was on hand on the day with any questions anyone had about the Alpacas. A great experience all round!”
“Thankyou so much Mick and a big thanks to your son for making my daughters 18th birthday such an amazing one, excellent service, professional and so reliable, the equipment in the party tent was second to none, I cannot fault anything.. Highly recommend your service Andy from edenthorpe”
“Afternoon tea was lovely. Nithing was too much trouble by owner. She does her own bakinf.”
“Wonderful even in the rain, we went down the coal tunnel which was really fun, and we saw the cascade which was interesting and cool. The ground are very big and enjoyable. Lots to see.”
“Lovely day out at xmas. The house is beautifully decorated with all 47 trees. Especially loved the enchanted woodland theme with the fairies this year. The light projection onto the house was beautiful too. Only niggle is the two way route past the rockery for the light trail.”
“A lovely day out . We had spent the weekend in Matlock Bath. A truly lovely place to visit. The tramway village is only approximately 6miles away. It's like stepping back in time . Along with many trams on display, there are some you travel on along a track. An old fashioned sweetshop and pub . There's a cafe serving food . Sadly the country walk got to by the tram was closed due to the bad weather. Tickets are valid for 12 months so hopefully will go back in the summer months”
“This is a site well maintained by volunteers and is an impressive Monument to the industrial revolution . Check the website and plan a visit on a day when it is in action. Quite something”
“Just so peaceful . Loads of stunning walks in every direction and amazing views.”
“Lovely food and great friendly staff.”
“Great community cafe, with a good selection of eats, some gluten free options. Dogs welcome on leads and free dog treats a real bonus for us.”
“Very nice visit despite a little drizzle. Woodlands, a lake walk, more formal gardens. Very pretty and quiet apart from birdsong. Clean toilets, cafe with breakfast and lunch menus, hot and cold food and drink, small museum and room with information about the family, shop.”
“First time that we went today, we were there 2 & a half hours, the kids (7 & 8) had a fantastic time and already want us to plan our return visit. Great environment for risky open ended play, my kids found activities that they liked doing and pushed themselves to try new things”
“Brilliant service, got greeted as soon as we walked in. Didn't get force sold anything, had a nice chat and laugh with staff. Food was served quickly, you can see it all being cooked in front of you. Seating is limited to only 4 tables but we found space easily! Would recommend and will be going back!”
“First time visit cafe only one table free, good energy over heard other customers complimenting the staff for the food and service and had to do the same after my full English breakfast . Will definately be back soon”
“Great place. Wonderful food. Pricey? Not so much given the amount. 1 large fish, 1 regular chips, 1 small mushy peas easily enough for 2. Very happy!!”
“Beautiful place! Very easy walk. All dogs should be on leads but quite a few people were not following this rule.”
“This was a long awaited visit. Booking is restricted, but on the day we had freedom to explore the house for as long as we wished. This is an amazing time capsule, I recommend it to anyone interested in social history. The greenhouse was a particular treat.”
“Beautiful Hidden Gem in the Peak District! Absolutely stunning walk with magical scenery. The Lumsdale Waterfall trail feels like stepping into a fairytale – peaceful, atmospheric, and full of history. The walk takes you past ruins of old mills and cascading waterfalls, all tucked away in a quiet, green valley. The path is fairly easy to follow, though there are a few steep and uneven spots – good footwear is a must, especially after rain. It’s not a long walk, but there’s plenty to take in and enjoy. Great for a peaceful nature escape, photography, or a short family adventure. Parking is limited nearby, and the area is privately owned in parts, so it’s important to stick to the marked public footpaths. Would definitely recommend it to anyone visiting the Matlock area!”
“Beautiful bridge with good views. There are nice slots in the bridge that allow you to look at the view without getting in other people's way too.”
“We found this place completely by accident while looking for a coffee shop and it looked so cool we had to go in and have a look! If you like old tools or trains this place is definitely worth a visit. The old workshop looks as if everyone downed tools one day and never went back”
“Stayed at the annexe and also had food and drink at the tea room. Room is lovely and perfect base for exploring the area. Tea Room has great food and drink and really welcoming atmosphere. Highly recommend both!”
“Went to see the horizon sculptures in the parkland, apart from parking cost(£5.00)it is free. Well worth a visit.”
“Absolutely wondeful pub. The friendliest staff, so welcoming and friendly to us and our dog. The food was incredible and great selection on the menu and specials. Such a great place to spend the evening, can't wait to return!”
“Our first visit on Sunday and it won't be our last. Easy parking. Attentive service from the moment we walked through the door. Great menu selection! Our food was delicious! It's so refreshing to enjoy good food in such pleasant surroundings. First rate staff who answered all our questions and were courteous and friendly. Would highly recommend.”
“Stumbled upon this place and was pleasantly surprised, the roast pork sarnies was amazing. Nice little hidden gem and will return”
“Lovely walk through the tree by the side of the river Don”
