Pub in Stoke

“Popped in for a traditional pint of ale while over from Australia visiting my father in hospital. The old style interior added a rustic charm, typical of what you hope to find in an English pub. Didn't eat while I was there but the menu on the table looked like a good selection of pub classics at reasonable prices. Next time I'm in the area I'm definitely going back to the Windmill.”

“Perfect little pub. Served by Donna and Lucy, excellent service. Food was on point, atmosphere was quiet but for a Monday night was expected.”

“Excellent holiday home. Very comfortable surroundings and the owners are lovely too. Be aware, the track to the farm is unpaved for quite a way, and a standard car may hit the road in places if not taken at a very slow pace?”

“We had such a lovely meal here. The food was fresh, tasty, and came out piping hot. The staff were warm and welcoming from the moment we walked in, which made the whole experience even better. Our server really went above and beyond to make sure my family felt comfortable and enjoyed ourselves. It’s the kind of place that makes you want to come back again.”

“Can’t fault this place dawn and her staff are all so very welcoming it’s like your at home ,service is spot on staff remember you from past visits and food presented to a high standard, it’s such a sad shame it is closing we had heard wispers it was and asked in the hope it was just a rumour but no ,a lot of local people like myself will not find another place like this . “Stayed here last weekend in a family room. 2 adults 2 children. Had booked another hotel up the road that turned out to be a nightmare. Arrived at the hotel, plenty of room to park, yes it is on street but lots of space. Door was closed when we arrived didn't find this a problem, lady who was working reception answered really quickly and welcomed us in. Check in was smooth and easy. The receptionist was amazing, made us feel at home. (Wish I knew her name but she has red hair) hotel felt really secure, door closed most of the time to stop just anyone walking in off the street. The stair way upto room was very clean, there is a patch of damage to the decor on the way up but really not a problem and probably to be expected in a building of such age. Landing corridor to room all really beautiful with some lots of character, (chandelier, balcony) room was really nice, so clean so big for a family of 4. No issue in room with any facilities or cleanliness. Staff happy to help and really couldn't be nicer. Location is brilliant too, nice restaurant across the road, local shops near by and water park and money forest just a few mins away. Overall had a really nice time staying here and would definitely stay again. Thank you”

“Visiting Whitchurch for the first time we tried to book in advance but was fully booked. On the evening we arrived we were called and advised that they’d had a cancellation and could fit us in . What a treat , fabulous food, wine and service , highly recommended, but to be sure, book well in advance!”

“It was my husband who discovered this place for our dinner with friends. Great vibes and love the fact it is a community pub. My starter of the Korean cauliflower was absolutely amazing and I could have very happily eaten a larger portion as a main. For my main however, I went for the pesto bread and butter pudding and again this was delicious. My husband and friends enjoyed their meals. I was too full for pudding but as I wasn't driving, I enjoyed the special cocktail, whiskey sour, before we headed home. Good vegetarian options.”

“We came for the 12 wines of Christmas on Saturday and had a great time! Rachel who ran the event was knowledgeable and friendly plus the drinks were obviously great! If it hadn’t cost us as much as the event in taxi fees we would be there regularly! Can’t wait to visit the pub in Audlem next given it’s much closer!”

“Spent a superb long weekend here, the cottages were cosy, clean and very well stocked in games and puzzles with full amenities for home cooked meals. Beautiful location with easy access for great hiking trails. Would definitely recommend!!”

“We stayed at the Lamb Guest Inn as part of a wedding party. It was my husband, one year old daughter, and I. The hosts were more than genuine and accommodating. They went out of their way to make sure we not only had everything us adults needed, but our daughter as well. They provided a pack n’ play for her to sleep in, a high chair at breakfast, and even provided special lacto free milk for her. Everything was clean and immaculate. The breakfast was homemade to order. Some of the best food we had during our whole stay in London. The location is an easy, safe walk to all the downtown bars, restaurants, supermarket, etc. It honestly felt like we were at my grandparents house the way they took care of us. I would definitely highly recommend and look forward to hopefully staying here again.”

“Really enjoyed our meal at The Queens. There is a good selection of hearty food and deserts. Service was excellent. I loved the Beef and Merlot Pie and my wife really enjoyed the Chicken Leonardo Pasta. The portions are generous so bring an appetite. If we ever come back to the area this will be high on our list of places to revisit.”

“It was a wild and windy night. Fabulous welcome entering the pub with 2 fires burning and excellent staff. The food offered was a good mix of traditional fare with some modern twists. Everything was homemade and tasty. Because of this, it is not a hurried experience. So enjoy.”

“As they say a sweet shop for grown ups. Excellent selection and choice of drinks, outstanding service. Ever changing line both behind the bar, on the shelves and in the chillers. Great place to hunt down some hard to find beers, particularly for Lambic and Sour connoisseurs.”

“Lovely welcome. Spent 2 nights there as a gift. Lovely friendly staff. Beautiful rooms. Fabulous food ...probably some of the best we have had, both set lunch and breakfasts. The lovely Hodnet Hall just across the road...do not pass that by and the beautiful village church. Would def return to the Bear Inn and recommend to others and I can't say that about many places for food tbh or accommodation in the Midlands. Alison and Sandra particularly lovely at breakfasts and hats off to all the team members behind the scenes... excellent!”
