“As part of my adventure to discover tasty foods around Cardiff, I stumbled across Vivo Amigo and I'm glad I did. After walking by and seeing a table full of mouthwatering food which was Instagram worthy, I decided to venture and for a lunchtime meal. Upon entering and admiring the decor in addition to the admiring the table full of colourful dishes, I was warmly greeted and shown to a table. I ordered the tandoori burrito which I was highly impressed by, not only the presentation but the amount of different flavours the dish had. Overall, I had a pleasant experience and will be returning after they have released their new menu in June.”

“I enjoyed my evening here very much. The grilled chicken was moist and well-seasoned, and the roasted vegetables had a pleasant smoky aroma. The ambiance was warm, with soft lighting that created a relaxing vibe. A solid spot for a quiet dinner after a long day.”

“Booked last minute for an early table on new years eve, before a visit to the glee club in Cardiff - all I can say is WOW the food is incredible!!! first time here but def wont be the last, the BEST tsatsiki ive ever had in the uk - everything was tasty & very well presented - we were even given complimentary baklava which was also delicious! “We visited Wed 22nd for a date night. It was sooo nice. The food was delicious, and the staff were great. One sauce top up was slow- But the staff had a difficult table next and the one girl said she was very new, to us so we appreciated them being under pressure. The table next to us were about 8 elderly people. They demanded quicker service as they were going to the theatre. They left saying they had waited 45 mins- They absolutely hadn’t, we were there before them and within 30 mins had ordered, and had drinks and starters. They ate all the bread (without covering any cost) then caused a scene leaving as their drinks were arriving. The staff dealt with it very well. The bourguignon was the nicest I’ve had, and my hubby demolished the mushroom side….. He doesn’t even like mushrooms! I must admit- If it hadn’t been for the Cardiff Devils discount we likely wouldn’t have visited- But we’ll definitely be back!”

“My friend and I spent a lovely couple of hours here, the service was excellent and the food was fabulous! I had the king prawn pasta and my friend had the gluten free salmon and prawn pasta, she said it was the best gf meal she'd had in a while! We'll definitely be back.”

“A great place to eat with a very good choice of latino food. Great service from staff and also friendly too. Access from the street was easy and no steps to negotiate. I had the burrito for main and the cheesecake for dessert...delicious! I recommend visiting and I will be back. I suggest you book a table in advance.”

“Good food, if you don't mind hair in your food, I am bald and clean shaven, so the 20cm hair that I had to remove from my mouth clearly wasn't mine. The staff didn't apologise, didn't offer replacement food, or reduction of the bill, after I spoke they offered to buy us a round of drinks, 2 of our party were drinking water, having decided that we would leave, we did finish the food in front of us, they the let us have the drinks free. First and last time time at Wagamama.”

“Had a lovely pre-show dinner and really enjoyed the experience. Food and drinks were delicious, particularly enjoyed the Vampiro and the spicy Margarita. The staff were fantastic and made us feel really welcome. Big shout out to our waitress Emily who was friendly and attentive. We will definitely be back when we are next in Cardiff.”

“Absolutely fantastic tacos! I had an amazing experience. I ordered the tacos, and they were absolutely delicious. Very fresh, flavorful, and perfectly seasoned. The tacos were soft but warm to a good temperature, generous fillings, and the toppings added just the right amount of crunch. The server in the black shirt (her name badge said shai) was amazing. Greeted me with a sweet smile and charm, and she was very patient in explaining everything. Excellent customer service. I'm definitely coming back:)”

“Over the years I have stayed at many hotels, each usually with their own restaurant, few are good, some mediocre and many are poor. Out of all the hotels I've stayed at I'm happy to say that the Chefs at this restaurant are why I return and why I'd say it's somewhere within my personal top 3 hotel restaurants I've dined at. The food is always genuinely excellent, a particular favourite is the scotch egg with pea puree and bacon jam... a good reason in itself to return! The pork belly with fennel, cabbage, potato gratin and sage stuffing is another excellent dish, each element is clearly treated with care and skill which absolutely shows in the finished product. Thank you to the chef for making another night away from home a little more tolerable by way of excellent cookery.”

“Special & “an Experience” - there is no other way to describe it except to say good value too. The decor is amazing and the service formal but in a wonderful way. It’s not somewhere to dash in and dash out. Rather it’s somewhere to relax and soak up the experience. Arguably, other places can sell better perhaps but none will rival will rival the range of menu options or the experience. The central bar island is a work of art and the venue loaded with wonderfully tended plants and interesting art. Where else can you have Champagne for breakfast?”

“Visited with two friends and we all loved our experience! I ordered the bbq burger, a side caesar salad, and shared fries, all of which were delicious. We also had some of the £5 cocktails, which were pretty great for the price. Our server was really attentive as well :)”

“Good food. Been meaning to try for a while. There’s quite a few dishes I wanted to try, so I’ll have to go back! I got the “saliva chicken” because I hadn’t seen it on a menu around here for a while. Delicious! Also opted for the cucumber salad and some plain rice. Salad was nice and fresh and the rice was fluffy and perfectly cooked. Staff were helpful and friendly. Prices are pretty fair in my opinion, too.”

“We got the moussaka, the pastitsio, the saganaki with honey, and the lamb skewer and it was all brilliant! The saganaki and lamb skewer I'd say we're particular standouts but it was all quite good.”

“I'd been a regular customer at the fabulous BC since the 90s, but hadn't visited for a few years after a house move. We came last night as a group of five and I'm happy to say that it's every bit as good as it was, with the same superb standard of food and hospitality as always. To achieve such a consistent level of excellence over such a long period is testament to Mo's dedication and his own personal high standards. He's the heart of the place, but the whole team should be commended for making our visit so enjoyable. There's not much point in mentioning the food, you just need to know that whatever you order, it'll be delicious! I definitely won't be leaving it so long to come back!”

“Stayed here for 3 night from the 28th of July 2025, was made welcome from a lovely guy called CHRIS who assigned us room 103. I've stayed in many 5* hotels in America, Asia and Europe, and although this was a budget hotel CHRIS was by far the best front of house staff we ever encountered. Throughout our stay CHRIS was so helpful for any information we required and couldn't help us enough. We came as guests and left as friends. Thanks CHRIS.”

“Food was lovely. I had the breaded chicken breast with fries, coleslaw, and egg. My mum had a full english breakfast. Didn't like the capers on top though I think it kinda ruined the meal but It's my own fault for forgetting to ask to remove them. Full english breakfast was lovely. They take blue light card which is great if you want a decent discount. It took a very long time for staff to take our order and bring the bill, it was busy though. I'd recommend if its not busy and if you have a blue light card as the price would be worth it for the discount. Suitable for people with food allergies and had no issues with that.”

“Had a great time here. My wife had bought us a beer tasting masterclass. OMG, brilliant. Although there should have been us plus 4 others we were told, the 4 didn't turn up, they missed an amazing 2 hours. Our host was a young guy called Seb, he was absolutely great. Not know what to expect, he went through the plan and explained the beers, what they make on site, what they bring in, how the beers are made, history and you are brought 8 thirds to try in order. Time to discuss each one, the colour, the taste, the origin. He was very knowledgeable and really made a great experience, would recommend this masterclass.”

“We went here as we was totally depressed walking towards The New Theatre with the many chain restaurant options. No thanks. We food this little gem right at the end just across the road from the theatre. Very warm welcome sat down straight away to a table for two. Busy, lively and fun. Service was excellent, fast and attentive. Food was quick to come out but not rushed. Cracking food all round. I personally felt the starters was a bit pricey but was delicious so... Would definitely go again. Clean and tidy through out quick to take plates or empty bottles etc. Excellent meal all round.”

“The hotel is the best location ever! It’s in the city center, a few minutes from the train and bus stations, and close to all the main attractions. The staff was very friendly and nice, and the rooms were clean and comfortable. The price is also very good, I recommend booking directly through them as it’s cheaper than doing so through other platforms! Will definitely stay there again!!”

Everything from the service to the food and the cleanliness of the restaurant was spot on. Especially the service. Food was in filling and big portions, great value for money! “Everything about The Botanist is lovely. The staff, food, atmosphere, and a big emphasis on the drinks. Monday through Friday from 4 to 7pm you can enjoy happy hour, I certainly did. With a nice price and a 2 for 1 deal, you certainly get all the drinks you need. I was there celebrating a family members birthday and they went above and beyond, including a decorative dessert board. The hanging kebab you’ll find no where else, it definitely doesn’t disappoint. This is a perfect place to have some nice photos at your table or the bar with its greenery and low lighting. Be mindful of all the steps (there is an elevator). The staff are also very understanding about arriving a few minutes late to your reservation time. Definitely make a reservation if possible. Earlier in the evening you should necessarily need one, but better safe than sorry to miss out.”

“Just had a wonderful afternoon in the Welsh House, the food was of a very good standard, plenty of choice and well priced. The atmosphere was a cross between restaurant and bar, very relaxing and welcoming. We were attended to by the lovely Isabell who made us feel welcome. “Absolutely amazing I couldn’t be more happy me and my partner stayed here for 1 night wish we had booked more lovely and warm all around rooms are beautiful and tidy ! Customer service is outstanding ! Pool and jacuzzi are insane! Food is lovely cooked to perfection staff are so so friendly cleaners are On it all the time ! Best hotel in Cardiff by far ! Great location you have dominoes across the road ! Wish I could give this more than 5 stars so happy! The prices are great! Well worth the money we will be back soon”
