“Went in for lunch today!! Absolutely fantastic food with proper homemade chips! Excellent value! Will definitely return!”
“Great caff. Very airy, big windows, and cool staff. Were always really chill and friendly when I worked in the building. Great to see it forever immortalised in Dept Q (previous annoyances over the caff being closed for filming now forgiven)”
“Cute and cozy theatre. Really friendly and helpful staff!”
“One of Edinburgh's best kept secrets! Situated on Edinburgh College's Milton Road campus, the delicious meals are cooked and served by students of the college. There may be a bit of a wait or occasional mix ups as the young people are mastering their hospitality journal but any misstep is more than made up for by the quality of the food, the local, seasonal ingredients and the happy atmosphere. A very economical way to experience really good food. The views are really nice too.”
“I had a fantastic stay at this hotel in North Queensferry. The room was amazing — spacious, clean, and incredibly comfortable, with a bed that made it hard to get up in the morning. The restaurant was another highlight; the food was truly top-notch and worth every bite. If you can, definitely choose a room with a view of the bridge. It’s absolutely stunning and adds something special to the whole experience. Parking is available, but finding a spot on the weekends can be a bit challenging, so it’s worth keeping that in mind. Aside from that, the staff and service were exactly what you’d expect from a hotel of this brand: professional, attentive, and consistently helpful. Overall, a wonderful stay in a beautiful location.”
“Really great priced. Good choice. Gluten free options - burger was fab, slightly cold as the roll was obviously frozen and not heated enough but i cant even complain was still delicious! 100% will be back”
“The food was absolutely delicious! Both the pasta and the risotto were cooked perfectly and tasted amazing. The dishes came out really fast, and the overall experience was smooth and enjoyable. The service was warm and welcoming — HARIA was especially friendly and attentive. Highly recommend this place!”
“Great aesthetic, combining bright and cheery with Edinburgh’s atmospheric stonework. Okay coffee, although a little small for my liking. Super friendly staff.”
“Made two of our evenings in Edinburgh memorable with great service and a friendly, helpful guidance about beer locality and flavor profiles. Food is not rated because we didn't order food outside of some fries, which were great. Will return as soon as we're back in Edinburgh.”
“Staying at Malmaison was a great experience. Arriving from a red eye at 6:30am, we weren't expecting to be able to get into a room until later that afternoon but they were able to upgrade us when we arrived for only £20! The room was spacious and modern with a moody flair. Would definitely recommend the stay there.”
“Amazing venue with ton of pool tables and other games too, not to mention the the abundance of big screens for the sports did I mentions the drink & food prices are reasonable & the food is on point! Will be back for another visit!”
“We stopped there at Sunday afternoon just for one beer because of historical value. However, Kamil, Craig, Martin, Harri, Archie were so amazing and helpful that we spend there alomst five hours. We had such a great time and experince. We also got a option to try historical skittle alley. It was such a fun. So we highly reccomend to vist this place. Thank you for everything Marika, Zuzana and Kateřina.”
“Dinner out done right Loved this pub to eat at. Vibrant garden on a Saturday night with people enjoying a drink and good time by the looks of it. Inside was very nice and the food was to die for. I had the lamb and was asked how I would like it cooked and this is something you don’t often get in finer dining establishments. Very very impressed. Thank you to Emily and Alex who served us.”
“A group of four of us had lite bites and cocktails here before attending The Military Tattoo, as part of The Drummer tickets. The staff were superb, very welcoming and friendly. The food and cocktails were great. A very relaxing start to the evening, as they even escorted us into the Castle grounds for the performance.”
“Visited for a beer tasting experience, stayed for further food & beer. The beer tasting was excellent, really appreciated the commentary on the beers given by the staff member. Was pleasantly surprised by the high quality of the food. The haggis bites with chippy sauce, cauliflower bites ('KFC') and mac and cheese were all elevated massively from the usual pub grub fare. Really really tasty. Service was friendly and efficient, and the place had a good atmosphere. They sell cask beers from other local breweries as well as their own beer (which these days includes the Inveralmond range e.g. Ossian) Looking forward to returning”
“We had a fantastic experience, the food was outstanding, the wine was at the perfect temperature, the atmosphere was relaxing and the service was attentive but not overbearing. Our first time here as my wife wanted to try it, so I took her for her birthday. Our new special occasion venue.”
“On 2nd July, my wife and I visited there for our lunch. We wanted to have Steak for Two menu with drink. It was so good! The all staffs were also very good! Looking forward to visiting again soon! Thank you! On 13th April, I visited this restaurant for our lunch with my wife. There was a nice lunch set menu. All staffs were very kind. Very comfortable restaurant, I felt. Looking forward to visiting again soon. Thank you!”
“Maisey and all the girls are amazing. Adam the manager was also fantastic. I came like 4 times in my two week stay and every experience was 10/10. I miss you guys and the food was amazing. Best pub by far in the city centre. Haggis neeps and tatties was better than my grans. (Sorry Gran! RIP!) and the fish and chips were unreal. I’m from Toronto Canada and we have some of the best food and beverage service workers in the world. I was very impressed with all the staff, some of the best in the city . Thanks for everything guys. Adam I’m coming to work for you in May 2026! Pay me in food, no worries lol hopefully see you all before then!!!!! The Canadian Brad Pitt :)”
“Henry was a fab bloke who checked in on all of our scrumptious meals and even gave us discounted desserts. Great atmosphere, lovely staff, good beers. Will come back when I make the trek from Australia again. Cheers!”
“What a great place to grab some pub fare and a drink. Not a very extensive whisky menu, but good beer and wine. Food was great. Haggis bon bons and Camembert were fantastic! We will be back for music and/or quiz night.”
“A great little pub in Marchmont with regular tradition music sessions by musicians who really know what they’re doing. Slow in the afternoon but picks up around 4:30. Nice German beers on tap.”
“Amazing view with delicious food! Tried Nachos, Curly fries. Having a great place to sit inside or outside with a good view to click pictures.”
“I wasn’t aware of this cool bar until I had to Google it to buy a bottle of Lonewolf gin for my work colleague. Stepped in and memersize by the wide selection of beers from the tap shown in the menu board. Bought the bottle and settled in for an Elvis Juice IPA, without knowing what it was. The first sip was wow… tasted like grapefruit, one of my favourite fruits. Taste is very defined and refreshing. Forgotten to take photo. Friendly staff! Brewdog is quite close to Royal Mile. I arrived during dinner time so it was pretty quiet.”
“Amazing Irish pub! Absolutely loved the atmosphere at Finnegan’s Wake — warm, lively, and authentic. Great selection of drinks, friendly staff, and the music added just the right vibe. Whether you’re popping in for a quick pint or staying for the night, it’s a place you’ll want to come back to. A true gem!”
“They had beautiful decorations up so we wanted to pop in for a few pints. We had kids but they were super helpful with explaining the rules and letting us enjoy ourselves. Didn’t eat much more than some bar food, the back of the restaurant looks enjoyable as well.”
“Gluten free fish and chips, that’s basically all I have to say! Friendly staff, food is great. Went back for a second night.”
“For pure haggis taste experiment, here is the place. Steak pie has lack of salt but good anyway. Waiter is amazing, he helped us about picking the dish and adviced some other places. The sticky dessert is edible, but I don't recommend. Restaurant is on the second floor, you can enter from first floor pub.”
“Not been in, in a long time but still a fantastic pub. Good range of drinks & a great team. Hope to make it down this way again sooner rather than later.”
“Went 2/12/25 for another visit after almost 2 years and it was still very good. Lots of delicious beers and decent burgers and fries though so hungry I forgot a picture sorry! The place became very busy for a Wednesday with lots of groups and all you can eat wing night on Wednesdays as well. Enjoyed barley wine and stout and it was becoming pretty loud as it was really busy so left for hanging bat near by. Two sides for £7 was a nice value”
“We were blown away by the food here! Coming from NYC and being a huge foodie I could not have asked for a better first meal here in Edinburgh. Special thanks to Hubert for his kindness and recommendations and to the very kind bartender. If we find ourselves in Edinburgh again we will be coming back and recommending to our friends and family!”
