“After not planning on a place to eat we wandered into this wonderful local establishment 2 minutes from the gig venue we were attending. As soon as we walked in it was although we had been several times. The staff were incredibly helpful, as although we hadn't booked (although I will definitely book in advance next time) they invited us to take a seat. The service was warm, quick and felt like nothing would be a problem. The menu was filled with a varied amount of dishes, each sounding better than the last. The time between ordering and receiving our starters was minimal and when the food arrived it looked as good as the menu described and tasted sublime. The staff were polite and efficient but not pushy and the food from the kitchen was well presented and tasted better than many meals I've eaten at other establishments. 5 Stars are hard to earn but absolutely deserved.”

The service and atmosphere was also top class. Not sure why they would redo the receipt and add 25p because i requested 1 container to take away some food, was it even worth the hassle”

“Took the wife for breakfast and we thoroughly enjoyed the poached eggs, smoked salmon and avocado on toast, I enjoyed mines that much I ended up having another (the wife taxed me for a bite) with our pastel de nata for after washed down with an excellent coffee. It's a free for all with the seating so recommend either trying to reserve table or getting there sharp.”

Don’t miss the gin tasting experience—crafted with their own botanicals—and the shop, where you can buy their delicious honey (from their own hives), gin, and other local goodies. “have ordered here a few times and they have banging service and food everytime, only takes around 15-20 minutes of waiting for salt and chili chicken + chips, though very dry its nothing that water or cola cant fix. they're also very sweet and have memorized my order and ask me if i want it everytime i come in with my scooter i think one of them accidently called me ma'am once by mistake cause my high voice but watever i dont blame them, good food = good review babaaayyyy. highly recommend!”

“This is a tardis of nostalgic childhood memories. From the outside it would be easy to think it's just a shop but it's not. Once through the first room, there are loads of other rooms over many levels. They have a lift if you can't manage the stairs. In each room you hear.... "oooo I remember...." To be honest, from the inside first bit I hadn't expected much, but how wrong was I ! It was brilliant. Definitely worth a visit and definitely worth contributing to keep it open.”

“fantastic large open park with closed area for children to play on swings etc. access to the woods behind the park leads into a wonderful "almost" unspoiled wooded area. great to explore with a dog or kids. old quarry area with extremelly high cliff edge. need to be extra careful at this point as not closed off properly, but there are minimal warning signs. My dog and I love coming here was it is still a bit wild although it is a small area”

“Princes Street Gardens is a large public area, which sits along the south side of Princes Street, beneath Edinburgh Castle. The park is a peaceful haven right in the city centre. The gardens are actually made up of two adjacent parks, East Princes Street Gardens and West Princes Street Gardens. East Princes Street Gardens has always been a public park, while West Princes Street Gardens was privately owned until 1876. The Gardens lie in the valley between Edinburgh's Old Town and New Town, on the former site of the Nor Loch. This polluted loch or lake was drained in the 1760s and work began on the gardens around ten years later. Today, Princes Street Gardens are popular with tourists and local residents as a place to walk and picnic. There's a lot to see over 37 actes of parkland, including many monuments and statues. Several annual events are held in the gardens too. Princes Street Gardens is one of the most important urban parks situated in the heart of Edinburgh. It separates the Old Town from the New Town. The gardens are over 37 acres (150.000 m²) and are divided into two parts by The Mound, an artificial hill that connects Edinburgh’s New Town and Old Town and where the Scottish National Gallery is located. Garden History Princes Street Gardens was created by draining Edinburgh’s largest loch, the Nor Loch. Nor Loch, which was first a marshland on the north side of Edinburgh had initially been used as a natural Medieval defence along with Edinburgh Castle. With the north and west parts of the town protected, Edinburgh only needed a fortification on the east and south sides of the city. From the Middle Ages until the nineteenth century, it is believed that the Nor Loch was where “witch ducking” would take place (this was a way of discovering if a suspect was guilty of witchcraft), an ideal place to make dead bodies disappear, where water waste was thrown out and some historians believe that despite this many citizens would even go to the Loch for fresh water. Princes Street Gardens were designed first in the 1770s but were inaugurated in 1820 when the lake was completely drained. Beautiful All Year Round The Gardens are beautiful all year round. It is where many locals meet up, especially at the Ross Fountain, the park's most important monument. This cast iron structure was installed in 1872 after having been an exhibit at the Great Exhibition of 1862 in London. Every year at Christmas, part of the Gardens is transformed into the “Winter Wonderland” with a Christmas Market, an ice rink and many other fun attractions, including a Ferris wheel that stands 108 ft (33m) tall, often called The Edinburgh Eye.”

“I thought this was the best of all the hostels in the old town. Walk outside and you are in the grassmarket square, directly underneath the imposing Edinburgh Castle. The shower and bathroom were good, with plenty of individual bathrooms. The bed was a type of pod with enough room to sleep, hang up my shirts and sweatshirt, blanket, pillow, and convenient shelf for my belongings and to write my postcards. USB and charging port. There is a regular light and also a cool color changing light for fun! There is a sliding gate or curtain that gives you privacy, however I woke up in a pool of sweat on a cool day, so I felt I needed to keep it open a smidge so I don't suffocate. There is a vent, but a small fan would have been "cool." Felt very safe, locker for belongings. The staff, AMAZING! while they joked that they were not well taken care of by management, they took great pride in their work, and made every effort to accommodate any and all requests as I saw it. Extremely helpful and friendly when I asked directions or had questions. Available at all hours. Thank you guys for a memorable time in Edinburgh!”

“Great guest house with nice comfy and quiet rooms with en suite bathroom (note that you need to turn on the power to the shower in the bedroom using the red switch). Breakfast cooked to order and delicious. Perfect location, 200m from haymarket railway station, close to bus stop to either go into town or on line 100 to the airport.”

“We stayed for 2 nights and had a lovely time. You can take a nature path walk to dowtown (took us about 25 min). We also walked to a pub by the sea in about 15. The room was clean and quiet, and the breakfast was full of plenty to snack on. The view of the skyline was beautiful. So cool to stay in a home like this.”

“Are you looking for sushi?! Then look no further! This place was a great find and even convinced my friend who doesn't like sushi!! The menu is large with many options. I had the combo platter which was about £25 for 20 pieces. The fish was so fresh and tasty I wanted more! The servers were really attentive, asked about dietary requirements too. The restaurant was clean and calming, no loud music just great to get out of the busy taffic of Edinburgh. Next time in in the city I'll be coming back for more!”
