“A wonderful experience! We opted for the 10 course summer menu with wines and were so pleased we did! A very warm welcome and with our 4.45pm slot the place was virtually empty on arrival so we were able to choose a lovely spot to sit before being guided through the menu by our friendly, knowledgeable server who was wonderful throughout and keen to chat with us about each course and wine and seemed genuinely interesting in our thoughts throughout. We opted for some delicious apperitifs as well. The menu itself was fantastic, I particularly enjoyed the melon gazpacho to start... a great start to a summer menu (and on such a hot day). I also really enjoyed the Mussels and Fregola dish. My husband loved the pork dish. We were both pleased to be proved completely wrong about what we thought our "top picks" would be. Wines were paired well and we enjoyed all of them; I was very surprised again by what I thought my favourite wine would be Vs what it actually was. I noticed the goats cheese dish was prepared/served very differently to what I've seen on their own social media but I can only imagine this is part of the development of these dishes/menus and it was absolutely stunning so not a complaint by any means! We got married on the first so travelled up to Scotland to visit some family for a "mini moon" and wanted to treat ourselves to a memorable evening out. This absolutely delivered and we felt was great value for money. If I was to find any minor criticism it would be that the music at points really didn't seem fitting for the setting... a wild playlist that rapidly fluctuated between "bangers" to more chilled music. That being said we actually found it quite funny but may not suit all diners!”

I had the soup of the day (Chicken), spaghetti bolognese (partner had the steak) and vanilla fudge sundae (my partner had the sticky toffee pudding) 9/10 look forward to coming back soon.”

“Came for Valentine's night, the staff are so friendly and welcoming. Food was delicious, we shared a starter of nachos which were tasty, my husband had the fillet steak he said the steak was magic but the peppercorn sauce let it down, it was just like a gravy with peppercorns in it. But he still enjoyed the meal. My hunters chicken was delicious can't fault it at all, too full for dessert, please consider putting cheesecake on your dessert menu lol. We will definitely be back, you are a credit to Hamilton”

“Unassuming and brilliant restaurant. It's a great place to try some Scottish classic dishes like haggis, neeps and tatties or a creamy smoked haddock chowder. The salad with whipped Goat's cheese was delightful. Fabulous food and very friendly service!”

“Came here sat 1st November. Ordered burger with handcut chips which were lovely. Had half pizza and pasta which was great. Food nice portions and piping hot. Staff are nice and very efficient hard working will come again. Thanks.”

“Loved every single thing at Porter and Rye! Initially, we were running late due to traffic and the person on the phone offered to change our booking time to allow us to still go & have enough time for our meal. Me and my friend got the Friday deal and got one of the starters. My friend doesn’t have alcohol & they were happy to change the drink for a non-alcoholic one. The steak tartare starter was unreal!! Then the steak & sides arrived, a fantastic portion for a deal and everything cooked to perfection. Everything we had was so flavorful and the high quality. It was my birthday and the restaurant offered me a birthday sweet & prosecco along with desert that we ordered which you could tell was made fresh. The service was excellent, Rachel and the team took the best care of us & really felt spoiled. The atmosphere was also perfect, felt very intimate & calm. If we could give more stars we would. “The best steak pie I’ve ever eaten in my life. Katherine assisted me with our order and she could not be more pleasant to work with. Even the delivery driver was exactly on time and delightful funny and engaging. Strangely, the grill offers chicken enchiladas. This was as tasty as food I’ve eaten in Mexico and the heat level and Mexican spices were outstanding. We will order again from there tomorrow due to delicious food and charming staff.”

“Went here on recommendation from a friend & wasn't disappointed. Emailed prior to reserve a table & received a friendly reply. There is a smallish car park at the back & some space at the side & on the road. Friendly staff greeted us & despite the turnover of tables being busy, the staff were attentive at checking we were all ok. The menu has a good range of choices & our food was delicious. It was also a reasonable price. Will definitely go again when visiting Stirling”

“La Casa is a bit off the beaten track but it's well worth seeking out because they serve great food. The restaurant is spacious and well appointed with very friendly staff. The lunch menu is great value and has plenty to choose from including daily specials like roast beef in red wine sauce with red cabbage. Excellent! It has plenty of free parking too. Go round the back if it's busy.”

“Great for big groups or intimate dining. Extensive menu for all tastes as well as vegan veggie gluten free. Staff extremely efficient. Orders spot on and attentive to empty glasses and water jugs. There was a birthday party and a baby shower but discrete areas prevented disruption to private dining. Great private parking. Give registration to restaurant on arrival”

“I’m a big curry lover, and I drive from Hamilton to here to get a curry! It’s that good! That Thali was wonderful, and the Chasni sauce is fabulous. And the chef made me Lassi, even though it isn’t on the menu! My partner got the sea bass, said it was the best ever, and generous portions, can’t recommend this friendly eatery enough. Did I mention that the prices are very reasonable? You won’t be disappointed!”

Attention to detail about the quality of everything is clearly on the agenda here at Alessio's. Flavours are gutsy and pack a punch. Superb value. Service excellent. Amazing place if you like punchy flavours, your sandwiches packed full to bursting and quality of ingredients top notch. I'd come back to Kirkintilloch simply to visit here. Bravo.”

“Yes we went into Gost with some high expectations, but what we didn't know is how strong their seafood game was in comparison to their exceptionally strong steak one. Yes both the steaks we tried were premium with a capital P, but those plates of seafood absolutely floored us down to the seabed. This place maybe be pricey; but, given that this is in the heart of Glasgow city centre, and in light of the quality of their ingredients, the talent of the chefs, and the ambience of the restaurant itself, we can ensure you that every penny will be well spent. Needless to say, there's going to be a number of food and drink items here that'll most likely be shortlisted for our end of year awards in December. In the meantime, we'd strongly encourage Gost being somewhere close towards the top of your list of restaurants to visit when in Glasgow.
