“It was such a delight to dine here. The food was delicious. The smoked half chicken was absolutely juicy despite it being smoked which is usually isn't the case and the reaper was absolutely spicy as hell but the patty was delicious. The scoop doo was immaculate. And Joseph was so attentive and constantly checking in to make sure we didn't die of the spiciness and made sure we were comfortable. Loved being here!”

“Great apartment. Perfect for a couple of days away! Clean and well presented. Bed was really comfortable. Walking distance to York center. Only slight negative was it does get hot on the warmer days with not much option to ventilate. Easily fixed by going out and enjoying York in the sun. We will be re booking again definitely.”

“Found this little gem of a place by default, a couple leaving said it was amazing food so we decided to nip in, and so very glad we did. We only had bar snacks (Yorkshire pudding with pulled beef and dirty fries). Both absolutely delicious, very good cask ales and nice selection of gins too, in a chilled, non pretentious atmosphere with friendly staff! We will be back!”

“April 2025 update - new landlords look like they have a plan ... which sound great. Early days but she is crystal clear and the staff are great. March 2024 update - still pretty darn good. Dec 2023 and new management. 1st visit was a big success. Ales were kept perfectly and all staff very friendly. High hopes going forward. Glad to see it both open and busy.”

“Stopped at this little pub during a daytrip to York and were very happy. Staff was very friendly and got around to us quickly during rush hour. Pints were good, but food was also quite good. Chips and Cheese were delicious, with the chips clearly home made. Decor was quite nice too! Proximity to train station is also a good bonus. Would recommend a visit.”

“Just had a meal here. Food was excellent,maybe the best we have had on our visit to York.I had the homemade steak&ale pie and my wife lasagne.Plenty to eat on the plate. Staff friendly and cheerful. Might go back tomorrow evening. Would recommend to all.”

“Weekday lunch after a 7m walk. The bar staff rearranged the table so we had more room and booked us into the tap room as we had a dog (I mistakenly booked the restaurant). Easy online booking, good menu choice and all the food was delicious and decently cooked. We were informed that the food would take about 25m which it did. Easily recommended. Great views across Otley Chevin”

“I would highly recommend Judges Lodgjngs as this hotel is ideally located within easy reach of all the historic sites, the walls, shops, café, restaurants, bars, etc. Also, the rooms are very comfortable, and all the staff are friendly and always willing to help. Jackalyn, on Reception, was always very friendly and helpful throughout our stay. She advised us that she had only recently started at The Judges Lodgings, but this was never evident, and it was lovely chatting to her throughout our stay.”

“Lovely meal at olive tree. Friendly service with a warm welcome into a nicely decorated dining area.Special thanks to rumel and safa.. Busy on a saturday evening. We were a group of 6 peoples.We ordered starters and main both.. For the main, 3 of our party had the Steak and each opted for a different sauce option. I chose peppercorn and would recommend this. Steak was juicy and cooked well to a medium rare. Fries were thin and crispy. For dessert I had the Tiramisu . This was the best tiramisu. I tried. I also had a glass of the Merlot this was nice. The toilets were well decorated and flushed effectively. Everything was spot on.. Surely,Would definitely back again..”

“Had an absolutely amazing stay here over the weekend. Staff couldn't do enough to make you feel welcome, spacious room with a FANTASTIC shower, right in the centre of town as well which was perfect for us. Breakfast was included in the coatvof the room and was massive and so tasty! Would definitely stay again.”

“Absolutely amazing stay. Beautiful cozy bedroom with the comfiest of beds, slept brilliantly on both nights. The spa was fantastic. Treatments were the best and staff amazing at what they do. Definitely worth a mention. Gary who works front desk at spa makes the place. He is a huge asset. Very welcoming and friendly. He deserves the best review. Hope he gets to see this. We are going through a lot at the moment and Gary went above and beyond for us. He is funny and attentive. Made us laugh and smile and we felt very relaxed and can’t thank him enough.”

“I honestly don't know how they can produce such high quality food as a buffet, with so many available dishes. All the meat was tender, even the beef. They had some unusual dishes to try, like eel sushi, which was delicious and apples cooked in wine, which was the star of the show, in my opinion. Very friendly staff too.
