“This place was great. The food was delicious, especially the steak I had! The steak and ale pie my partner had, was one of the best ones I've tried! The atmosphere was calm, it was dog friendly (our girl was offered a doggy roast dinner!) The staff were all so friendly. It has incredible views, and is very spacious. I recommend this place 100%”

“We attended a community BBQ laid on by The White Horse, my local pub. This pub is one of the finest eateries in Yorkshire. Their Sunday lunch is to die for. The young staff are polite, friendly and helpful. Tonight, the pub organised a community BBQ. It was simply brilliant. Children were dancing about with wonderful face paintings. Unlike many country pubs that I have visited, there was a wonderful diversity of patrons, all having a ball! As an Irishman, I am very particular about my Guinness. As someone who has pulled pints of Guinness in Ireland and has been drinking it for 50 years, I can honestly say that a pint of Guinness in The White Horse is as good as many I have experienced in Dublin. This BBQ, tonight, brought people from many backgrounds together with stunning live music. I am so lucky to have such an amazing pub in our village of Church Fenton.”

“We have just eaten our Christmas Dinner delivered to our house for 5 of us and it was absolutely beautiful. The prawn cocktail starter was delicious with lots of prawns and a tasty salad. The main course, we all had Christmas dinner and it could have fed 10 of us. So much meat and beautiful veg and all the trimmings. Desserts were gorgeous. “Had my 40th birthday lunch here with 25 members of my family. Excellent food, fantastic service, all with a smile. It was the perfect venue to look after such a big party and they did exceptionally well, comes highly recommended and I shall definitely be going back. “Always been a fan of the Turkish/Greek sort of grills and what a little gem this place is in the middle of, out of all places, Pontefract (no offense to anyone from Pontefract). It's a pretty cosy establishment, about 26 covers max, but any place of that size and a focused menu set, typically means they can focus on the quality of the dishes, and boy, tonight's meal was a joy. For anyone going for the first time, I'd definitely recommend the mixed grill as it has a full range of lamb kebab, lamb chop, adana (which btw was awesome, right lamb mince consistency with the delicate balance of herbs and spices), chicken kebab and chicken wing. Rice was flavourful and the salad refreshing with the appropriate amount of dressing. Other half has the chicken Marmanis, which was indeed tasty, white wine sauce with the mushrooms just right without being too salty or sharp. Only a slight blip was a tough tendon in her piece of chicken - something that can be easily corrected I'm sure. Baklava for dessert is home made rather than shop bought so that's a massive positive for me. All washed down with a Turkish apple tea to cleanse the pallette to end a surprising but delightful evening meal. Service was excellent and attentive, the team there are super friendly and welcoming. Will definitely be back and is an establishment we will bring friends and family to. A must visit. 5*. If the team are reading this? teşekkür ederim”

“I was travelling on business, and after a long day all I wanted was a good meal. Oh my goodness—what a pleasant surprise. The staff were super attentive and genuinely kind. A special shout‑out to **Pheobe**, who did an excellent job serving my order. The food arrived warm, fresh, and absolutely delicious. Exactly what I needed after a long day. Highly recommended!”

“This is one of my favourite pubs in Wakefield. It has a superb location and a large selection of seating from outside on the lawn and the pub garden to inside the pub or it's conservatory. The pub itself is very old and worth visiting purely for this reason. It's full of character and is worth seeing. As for the food - the pies here are next level. The staff are always friendly. So yes definitely one to visit.”

“An unexpected stop for breakfast this morning turned out to be a lovely little find! The décor inside is really nice, and the staff gave us such a warm welcome. We sat upstairs and ordered a full English breakfast and a full vegetarian breakfast — both were freshly cooked and delicious. Service was quick and friendly, and we didn’t have to wait long at all. I’d definitely recommend this charming spot!”

“Stopped by for dinner to enjoy a bit of Americana, and we were welcomed with open arms. Wonderful staff and service, I had the ribs which were incredible, we also enjoyed several cocktails including the old fashioned and the snow-ito which were both delicious. Upon learning my partner is from north america, the chef excitedly gave us a kitchen tour, adding to the friendly and welcoming feel of the place. We ended up spending way too much as what we meant to be a quick dinner turned into a 3 course meal. Would visit again!”

“Surprised with joy. After a drive through the beautiful countryside my wife and I stopped here for a drink. Warmly welcomed we took a gander at the menu and decided to order food as well. We were not disappointed. The star of the starter menu is the Fish Cocktail, ample in size and great quality. You might want to just order this as a mains! Portions are excellent. I decided on the Steak and Ale Pie. Good choice, not one of those mince and gravy jobs. This was full of braised steak, tasty pastry and solid chips. Just love the red cabbage side. Jack Daniels Chicken also a good choice. The staff were very friendly from the getgo. Happy to chat and definitely interested in checking everything was ok. Parking ample, including disabled parking. Glad to recommend this venue as a place worth stopping at for food, especially if you are hungry. We'll definitely be returning.”
