“We'd not been to The Bistro since Covid & it was lovely to be back. The restaurant has been redecorated & looks good. The staff as always were very friendly , welcoming & helpful. The menu was pretty much as it has always been with plenty of choice for all tastes. The food comes well presented is very tasty , well cooked & plentiful. Just a shame that they do not offer their special mid week offers any more which would maybe tempt us to visit more often. We brought 2 friends with us who had never been here before & they too were very impressed & pleased with their meals. We look forward to our next visit.”

“Highly recommended. One of the most delicious food i ever had. My husband order meatballs which he loved it so much ( he said never had anything like it), I ordered chicken liver and garlic bread. The chicken liver took a bit long time to cook. But the restaurant gave us complimentary lovely sausages as an apology which i felt very appreciated because it was my fault ordered chicken liver. Staffs are very friendly and helpful. Love it and will definitely go back again. ( Sorry, i forgot to take a photo of the complimentary sausages! )”

“Loved my visit to Bacaro. The black pudding with chicken liver was the highlight - so rich and flavourful. Goats’ cheese pearls were excellent too. Great vibe and friendly service - would definitely recommend.”

“Lovely little restaurant with friendly staff, great service and good food. We went for dinner as part of a little pre Christmas trip to Chester. The small plates were delightful. We had the focaccia, meatball and fried lasagna. Every item was lovely… and I’ve definitely been inspired to deep fry my lasagna in future! We had the onglet, bhaji burger and broccoli tagliatelle for mains. The onglet was delightful, but I didn’t regret my choice (the tagliatelle). The mango ketchup that came with the bhaji burger was too sweet for us, but I’m sure it would have suit those who have a sweeter palate. If we had extra stomach space, I would have loved to try the lasagna (because the fried version was so nice!) Nothing wrong with the dessert per se, but they were the weakest course… which was a little odd. The chocolate crème brûlée was fine but nothing to write home about … while the sticky toffee pudding was not the right texture for me. The coffees were delightful though!! Overall, this was a good find! I’d love to go back during the day and try their brunch - the Malaysian in me is intrigued by the chai tow kway & paratha (the description is that for chai tow kway so not sure where the paratha comes in, but I wanna try it!!)”

“I visited SW with 2 girlfriends this week. They have a new Chef - Luke and a new menu. The best restaurant meal I have had in Chester it was delicious. Great menu - I started with steak tartare followed by the monkfish in lobster sauce. All beautifully prepared and presented the flavours were perfection. The staff were wonderful. Attentive without being intrusive. We had a fantastic evening. Would highly recommend.”

“This was our first visit for my birthday. It's a lovely stone cottage on Heswall main street, yet set back off the road. There are outside tables too, though, for when the weather is nice. The staff were welcoming and helpful and we could see the chefs in action and all was calm and clean in there. The food was well presented, different and very tasty. The portions were a nice size - not too big, which I can't stand. I want to enjoy, not gorge.”

“Ellingtons what a hidden gem! Food is fabulous fillets that melt in your mouth and the Madeira sauce is out of this world. I can honestly say that my husband and I have never had even a mediocre meal here, it’s always a full on treat. I know that you only do 3 nights a week now but please don’t stop as you are our favourite restaurant in Merseyside. Thank you Cathy and Tony and your brother the best chef around”

“As a first time visitor on Bank Holiday lunchtime, I have no complaints. Everything, and I mean everything was faultless. Lunchtime table for two as a walk in, staff welcoming, waiters and waitresses very polite, attentive. The service was fantastic. The food was superb. A starter, two mains, two desserts and a drink for less than £35 pp. Absolute spot on. We will return for a nice evening meal and a few glasses of wine without a doubt”

“Absolutely loved my experience at Mowgli Street Food! The decor inside is beautiful—warm string lights, cozy seating, and even some swing-style seats that give the place a unique and inviting vibe. The service was fast, and the staff were incredibly polite and welcoming. The food was delicious with generous portions and great quality. A perfect spot for a relaxed meal with a great atmosphere. “Had dinner here a couple nights ago on 13/08/25, was served by Dorrie who was absolutely wonderful. I wanted to try some local beer that was on tap so I asked for her recommendations, she told us they have some beer on rotations that are not on the menu and brought us a small glass to try. The food was great as well, we had the Scotch eggs and pork knuckles which we couldn't even finish. Overall great service and great food.”

“Our first visit here last night and definitely not the last! A beautiful, comfortable restaurant with very friendly and attentive staff. The menu has a great choice offering the usual dishes you'd expect as well as their chefs specials , I highly recommend you try these! I ordered the lamb chops for a starter and they were the best I've had in an Indian restaurant, very juicy and flavoursome. Not over charred as I often find in some places. For mains we tried the Chicken Bombay and garlic chilli chicken , both were extra tasty! We had the garlic fried rice and their ' Khans rice ' - this isn't on the menu so you need to ask for it! It was amazing. And a keena naan - delicious. They don't serve alcohol but you are welcome to bring your own , there is a shop next door which will sort you out ! Presentation of the dishes was lovely too! Pram, wheelchair and family friendly . 100 recommend”

“It was our first visit (a Birthday celebration) and its certainly won't be our last. The entire dining experience was faultless. We received a warm welcome, enjoyed stunning oer d'oeuvres and fizz, before moving into the restaurant for the exquisite 7 course tasting menu which was accompanied by superb well thought out drinks pairing. A social mention to Sommelier Boris, whose knowledge and passion shone through and made sure that we had a memorable experience. Hats off to Chef Elliot and team. Chester should be proud! “Great New Years evening with delicious food and amazing atmosphere We came soon after the first lockdown and had to sit outside as inside was closed but still enjoyed our food and the atmosphere. We wanted to return and NYE was the best excuse, and not the last time either. The food was hot and tasty just as stated on the menu. I had asked for a couple of changes and this was done with no fuss to allow me to have the dish the way I wanted. All the staff were working hard but in a relaxed Manor which came across as a friendly place to sit back, relax and enjoy the evening. 100% chilled vibes and top notch food.”
