“Honestly, we stumbled upon a gem of a place last night. If you're ever craving proper, authentic food, you have to try Gurkha 1816. We kept it simple and ordered the Chowmin, Veg Momos, and Machurian. Let me tell you, it was incredible. The taste wasn't just "good," it was the real deal. With the first bite of the momos, I was instantly reminded of the street food stalls back home in Surat. It’s that specific, heartwarming flavour you miss when you're away. Absolutely spot on. And the people working there? So lovely. They weren't just polite; they had this genuine, natural smile for everyone who walked in. You could feel the good vibe in the whole room, everyone around us was just... happy, digging into their food with big smiles. A heads-up: this place is no secret, so you have to book a table. It's worth the two-minute phone call, I promise. I called them and it was quick and easy, no waiting on hold or anything. Seriously, just go. You won't regret it. We're already planning our next visit to try more of the menu”

“We celebrated our daughter’s 18th birthday at The Lounge and i have to say the place was amazing. The staff and management were fantastic and catered for all our needs. The food was absolutely amazing and probably the best I’ve had for a wedding or party. All of our guests have sent messages stating they were so impressed with the food. Your amazing Chef and Service Staff definitely need a pay rise for all their hard work. If anyone requires similar set up like the pictures below please don’t hesitate ask the team to get in touch.”

“I have been to this restaurant 4 times in the last month. It is amazing. Service is second to none. Even though its always very busy, including birthday parties, the food quality is perfect and so is the service. The drink service is very efficient too. Even if you want a drink/cocktail not on the menu they still do it for you.”

“We have visited here a few times now and each time we have left it until the last minute to go. They always do their best to get us a table. The guys are so friendly and helpful, knowledgable about the food and will happily recommend and adapt to suit you. They will happily chat and tell you the history of the dish. The food is amazing. It is NOT your standard curries that you get everywhere. They actually taste homemade and authentic and you can see the whole spices in them. The food is beautifully presented. “Been a few weeks since I visited this delightful little restaurant and only got round to writing a review. Sorry it took so long. What can I say... amazing authentic Japanese, Thai, Korean Chinese food made fresh to order with fresh ingredients and bursting with flavours.  Not many of these halal options around and for the ones I've tried its hands down one of the best I've been to in Birmingham. Now has seating and is beautifully done up in side. To top it off its complimented with a welcoming team and excellent friendly customer service. “Tried this takeaway for the first time tonight. OMG, the food is delicious. The chicken pakora was amazing. My only criticism if I had one is that the Naan could have been bigger, but the food is delicious, the staff were friendly and welcoming. Would definitely recommend this takeaway and will DEFINITELY be using it again.”

“Went on a wintry Monday so it was unsurprisingly empty but we got a great feed and a warm welcome. The tasting menu was generous to a fault but all of the elements were delicious. The tandoori was used masterfully giving everything a comforting smokiness whilst letting the unique flavours and textures of the meat shine through. The prawns were especially plump, juicy and delicious. The butter chicken was had great depth and really let the tomatoes do the work of providing this, so often it's just a creamy bland effort but this has really pronounced flavour. All of the other curries met this high standard. Brilliant. Well done.”

“A superb experience from booking to paying! Lovely warm welcome and handshake from a proud owner, superb decor and a very good clean atmosphere. The dry ice display was a new experience for me and was welcomed. The food was in my top five Indians ever. The price point was perfect. The Staff were all amazing and I really enjoyed myself. “Good portions and absolutely tasty food. Nice blend of spices which you can feel everytime you have a bite. There is also a small Shisha place around the back where we spend most of our time with mint tea and Baklava which is must try. Good customer service and definitely go back again.”

“Excellent pub about 12 minutes walk from Tamworth Railway Station. Seven cask beers on handpump when I visited including two stouts. Lots of outdoor seating some of it covered. The lovely C16/part Tudor building is home to Tamworth Brewing Company and its tap. The cosy upstairs rooms have Tudor features and the historic courtyard beer terrace to the rear offers striking views of Tamworth Castle. The Tamworth Tap won the Campaign for Real Ale (CAMRA) National Pub of the Year in both 2022 and 2023!”

“Excellent hotel, very friendly staff. However the breakfast service was slow and we only just had time to eat our breakfast as we had to catch a train. The staff were apologetic but we had to rush our food and this meant we didn't enjoy the experience. Next time we will have cereal.”

The Bacon and mushroom sandwich the Ladies served, was one of the best I have ever eaten, this coming from a chef of 40 years. Bacon perfectly cooked and so many delicious fresh button mushrooms.
