“The Conwy has recently been taken over, it is still set out as a lovely little family restaurant. Prices are pretty standard, staff very attentive and friendly, well presented, food really tasty and fresh veg used, lovely atmosphere. Lovely Sunday lunch. I will be going again when next in Cardiff, you should give it a try, I don't think you will be disappointed.”

“Amazing food! So good that we came 2 days in a row. I only wish we tries it on the first day we could but alas, we stumbled upon it on the second last and last day of being in Cardiff. The lovely batista person behind the till had asked if we wanted a loyalty card and we explained we were on holiday. When we went back the next day he asked us if we were certain and we said we were sadly driving off after our breakfast. I noticed after paying for some sandwiches etc. for the road, that they had peanut butter, dark chocolate and sea salt cookies and asked my husband to get me one and the batista person gave me it on the house for returning, and wished us a safe journey. This genuinely made my whole day! Please go here, its soo good. I recommend the rose and jasmine tea, and honestly anything with poached eggs because the food was outstanding.”

We booked at short notice and the staff were so accommodating even giving us a private area for our party of 17, where we were also able to watch the football. “The Cross Inn is a hidden gem in Cardiff! Stopped by recently and was really impressed. The pub has a great traditional feel with a modern touch – cosy, clean, and full of character. The staff were friendly and attentive, creating a relaxed and welcoming atmosphere from the get-go. The drinks selection is solid too, with well-kept beers and a good variety behind the bar. Plenty of seating inside and out, and a lovely spot to catch up with friends or enjoy a quiet pint. Definitely one of the better pubs around – will be back soon!”

“This may seem a strange occasion for leaving a review, but we had the post-funeral wake for my mum at the Ridgeway recently and they looked after us as well as we could have asked. We booked the cold buffet and this was excellent. A range of well filled sandwiches and rolls (we asked for veg and non-veg), quiches, salad, and some delicious delicacies, and then cakes to follow. It was more than enough for the numbers we ordered, even with many going back for more. The service was excellent. A very busy bar was looked after very efficiently by the staff, who were friendly and helpful through the afternoon and evening. No one wants to plan for a wake, but the team at the Ridgeway looked after us beautifully.”

“Me and my partner visited today (4th of October). We enjoyed so much, girl servicing was so nice, polite and helpful. Food was outstanding!!!! I've had steak which was exactly as I like it, there was no trouble when we asked for my chips to be cooked a bit more, Dave had mix grill, everything was cooked to perfection!!!! Beer was nice too. We will highly recommend this pub to everyone. Thank you very much.”

“The staff at the duke have been absolutely fantastic on my visit. Warm and welcoming, nothing to much for them and it seems to be a very well oiled machine. On top of this the food was outstanding for pub grub, I went for the tuna jacket, very impressed with the presentation, and the taste was fantastic. My partner loves burgers so went for the cowboy burger, and he demolished it. I’ll certainly be back to the Duke, thanks again to the welcoming staff.”

“Amazing prices, great beers. Very clean and fabulous black sparkly bar surface, generally a very nice atmosphere. Unfortunately some of the people using this pub do not appreciate the fantastic value for money as this place is better than even Wetherspoons on beer, lager and cider prices, no one comes close to the Bristol house and yet despite being provided a great space outside with ashtrays to smoke and vape, they chuck their fag ends all over the place and it really is a mess. Staff are very hard working and on the rare occasions some people get loud they control situations well and it always feels safe.”

“What a cracking visit! Rob was an absolute legend – his witty banter had us laughing from the moment we walked in. Friendly, sharp, and full of charm, he brings real character to the place. The pints were top-tier – perfectly poured and ice-cold. You can tell they care about quality here. And the food? Absolutely fantastic – piping hot, full of flavour, and hit the spot perfectly. Great atmosphere, excellent service, and a real credit to Rob for making it such a memorable experience. We’ll definitely be back!”

“We visited on Meat Free Monday (1st December), arriving in the pouring rain, and were immediately greeted with a warm smile and a cosy fire - the perfect welcome. We ordered the vegetable lasagne (both the vegetarian and vegan options) with chunky chips, and everything was delicious and such good value. The team were genuinely lovely, attentive without being intrusive, and made us feel right at home. It’s wonderfully dog-friendly too - they came straight over with a bowl of water for our girl, which we really appreciated. A great experience from start to finish, and we’ll definitely be back.”
