“Wonderful tasty food. Service was second to none - Peter and his colleagues were top class professionals, friendly, polite and without doubt a key part of the relaxed ambience here. We had dishes from the lunch menu, and aside of there being plenty of lovely food, was also excellent value. If you've not been here, booking a table is recommended! The whole experience was so enjoyable, and despite us living in Glasgow, we intend to visit again. Well done to all the staff.”
“Went here for dinner and was not disappointed.... there were 3 of us and we all thoroughly enjoyed our meal. Steak and Ale pie was beautiful, full of tasty, tender chunks of meat , l had the cheeseburger which was one of the tastiest burgers l have ever had, the other person in our party had the Italian chicken.... also very well cooked and tasty... attentive staff but not overly so and reasonably priced. And of course you have the view of the bridges... we were there at night time so they were lit up making it more special... l would definitely recommend this place and will most certainly return one day...”
“Stumbled across this little place and immediately knew I wanted to have dinner there so we went the next day. Food was outstanding, scallops were delicious and the flavours were so vibrant. Maple chicken for the main and equally as delicious. Staff were super friendly and inviting, lovely atmosphere will definitely be back.”
“Lovely meal at Breizh, excellent food, superb service! We had a generous portion of mussels for starters. Inspired by the other reviews, we decided to give the unique savoury crêpes a try. They were simply delicious, and overflowing with cheese. Our other main, the lamb chops with mushroom risotto was absolutely divine! We finished off with the banana crepe with Jack Daniels sauce, which was also lovely! Would definitely return to try out other menu items at Breizh!!!”
“We had a wonderful stay at The Bridge Inn in Ratho this past September. This charming canal-side inn is a hidden gem just outside Edinburgh and near the airport, offering the perfect blend of peaceful countryside atmosphere and excellent hospitality. Our room was comfortable and nicely decorated with lovely views of the Union Canal. The inn has that cozy, traditional Scottish pub feel that makes you instantly feel comfortable and at home. The location right on the canal made for a truly serene setting, especially waking up to the peaceful waterside views. One of the highlights of our stay was our leisurely walk along the Union Canal towpath. The canal walk from Ratho is absolutely beautiful, with tranquil waters reflecting the sky and lush greenery lining the path. We strolled for miles, enjoying the peaceful countryside, watching narrowboats glide by, and spotting ducks and swans along the way. It was the perfect way to unwind and escape the bustle of the city while still being so close to Edinburgh. Dinner at The Bridge Inn's restaurant was fantastic! The menu featured delicious Scottish fare with a modern twist, all made with fresh, quality ingredients. We enjoyed Steak pie and Fish & Chips. The atmosphere in the restaurant was warm and inviting, with attentive service from the friendly staff who made excellent recommendations. The combination of comfortable accommodation, stunning canal-side location, wonderful walks, and excellent dining made our stay at The Bridge Inn truly memorable. It's an ideal spot for anyone looking to experience the Scottish countryside while staying close to Edinburgh and to the airport.”
“Excel in Dessert and Side potato Very spacious table and seats Nice atmosphere, just that the table is too big a bit hard to talk and listen if come in as group.”
“Hello, I am Thailand I came to try your food. It was very delicious and I am sorry that I came when the restaurant was about to close. Although the food took a while to wait and the price may be a bit expensive. For THB currency converted to GBP currency, all the staff were very nice and provided good service. It was the first time I ate French food and loved it very much. Next time I will come back to eat again.”
“We popped into Mum’s Comfort Food for breakfast and it was perfect! Delicious, hearty plates that tasted homemade and fresh. The staff were so friendly, fun, and helpful - they really made the whole experience feel relaxed and welcoming. Such a great spot to start the day in Edinburgh!”
“Really good food and great value for money for a 3-course lunch! The French onion soup with the steak frites and chocolate mouse dessert is so delicious, I could literally eat everyday if I had the money lol The atmosphere is so nice with the dimmed lighting and the aesthetic they have going on is really nice. Best spot hands down! Been over 10 times now I’m addicted and have never been disappointed only more impressed every time!”
“I bought a nice sourdough loaf and two fruit tarts. The service was very pleasant, we had nice chat.”
“Delicious food with a view of the castle. We ordered three tapas per person. The coffee here is excellent and some of the best we've had in Edinburgh. Service was very attentive.”
“My wife and I had lunch here during a visit to Dalkieth Country Park. The restaurant has glass walls so the view to the park is great. The staff are friendly and pleasantly attentive. The menu has a good level of choice. Our meals were hot and freshly prepared. We sat and enjoyed our food and the views before heading off for a long walk through the park. Great”
“5 stars for the food and service. Haddock and chips lovely, chicken burger top notch. The chicken was unadulterated, didn't come covered in a million and one spices or topped with some chilli relish rubbish, it was great, just what I wanted. Nice piece of chicken, mayonnaise, salad and gerkins. The menu said fries and we were expecting the usual skinny things you tend to get when it says that but what we received was really good chips. Nice pot of tea, very friendly and helpful service. Looking forward to returning soon.”
“We visited La Vita Viva as a family of 21 to celebrate my husband’s 60th Birthday and the food was absolutely outstanding — five-star quality from start to finish. Every dish was full of authentic Italian flavor, beautifully presented, and cooked to perfection. What made it even better was the service we received being a big party not an easy task but we were really well looked after. I would highly recommend and we will be back”
“Confortable place to enjoy time with family, friends or colleagues. Take a drink and a bite. I'll be back for a sticky toffee pudding.”
“Lovely owners, very friendly and love a wee chat! Food made to order and waiting time great! We had chicken fried rice and beef fried rice with free prawn crackers on the side. Both were delicious and would highly recommend this place”
“I like to know that my haggis is cooked properly and I've never had a bad breakfast. Very happy”
“Lovely hotel. Perfect location. Stunning views. Cosy bar/ restaurant serving delicious food. We've had a wonderful stay. Thank you”
“I had 4 days in Edinburgh in late September 2025, and this was my favorite breakfast place. My sandwich -- eggs benedict on top of a double-decker avocado toast with black pudding, hash browns and bacon -- was delicious and filling. Coffee was good, and service was friendly.”
“The place has an amazing ambience! The food was really tasty. The lunch menu is very fair-priced. Location is great, and the staff couldn’t be nicer or kinder! I really recommend it!”
“I had breakfast here with colleagues today, and I have to say, the service was first class. We really felt looked after. The food was delicious too and came quickly. We had the full monty and the quality was exceptional. I would highly recommend if you're local, it's even worth travelling for. An easy 5/5 review.”
“Lovely restaurant and bar below The Brunswick Hotel. Service was very friendly and the recommended dinner (Chicken Parmgiano) was a perfect fit. Quite wide drink menu and Fever Tree as house tonic that paired lovely with the Gin. Thank you for a pleasent evening.”
“Amazing food and really accommodating. We booked a table quite late on a quiet Thursday night, and our friends ended up running half an hour late. The waiter was incredibly kind about it and showed no sign of irritation at us keeping him at work longer than expected. Food and wine were exceptional and we are already planning the next visit.”
“Amazing food and staff. Hannah was lovely and attentive. Restaurant and hotel are beautiful. We took lots of pics. Thank you for such an enjoyable evening”
“We had a dinner here and we enjoyed our time. Service was great and quick. We were next to the window so it was quite nice. Will go back there. Food quality was good, but the price could have been a bit lower. Overall, we had a nice experience.”
“Hand on heart one of the best meals out we've had in a while, and by far the nicest Chiquitos we've been to. Excellent food cooked and served by excellent staff for whom nothing was too much trouble. Niall in particular was very funny, friendly, and attentive. The online booking system was quick and easy to use, and our request on the booking that we were given a booth was honoured by the staff upon our arrival. The food itself was all really delicious and cooked perfectly. We were also impressed by how Covid safe they were. All staff wore their masks properly and the doors into the toilets had a mechanism that allowed you to pull them open using your foot. Would definitely return. 10/10”
“Had the most delicious food tonight and generous portions too. The staff were lovely and friendly. Will definitely be returning. Such a lovely place and great experience tonight xx”
“Gorgeous meal. We dropped in on our way back to Edinburgh for a late lunch. The owner/chef was very attentive and our pastas (seafood and carbonara) were superbly cooked. Al dente and flavourful, with a generous enough portion for us to take some home for dinner! Premises were sparkling clean and there was a kids' special menu as well.”
“Food amazing!! Staff also very friendly. We ordered starter and mains but we had extra break with salsa at the beginning, then extra shot of alocohol at the end. Nice small restaurant with good atmosphere.”
“Best quality meal ever!! All dishes, the crab tartlet, Cod, Venison, dessert were expertly and tastefully prepared and presented with care. One of us was dairy- and gluten-free, so plates for that person were customized. The wait staff were perfectly attentive, friendly, and knowledgeable about the dishes and libation options! And the view is incomparable!”
