“Honestly really lovely cosy place! The staff were very nice and dealt with some allergies at our table quite well. The food was so so delicious and very reasonably priced too.”
“Most recently I had their famous "IruBru pulled pork" in a very large and rather spicy burrito. The Scotch Bonnet sauce is not to be ordered lightly! Excellent fire. Lots of other options - last night I had half Scotch Bonnet/Habenero & mango. And finished it for brunch. Always good, and crazy great value for money if you go large or superlarge.”
“We popped into Mum’s Comfort Food for breakfast and it was perfect! Delicious, hearty plates that tasted homemade and fresh. The staff were so friendly, fun, and helpful - they really made the whole experience feel relaxed and welcoming. Such a great spot to start the day in Edinburgh!”
“Great food, great service. For the 4 of us we tried all the starters on the menu and got 4 types of tacos. Favourites: - corn on the cob: I don’t normally like corn very much, but this was juicy! I think they rolled it in sour cream then grated cheese then covered in paprika salt. Delicious. - pork confit taco: the meat was actually crispy, yum - baja cod taco: crispy batter, soft and juicy fish Paid £35 each, including 6 cocktails for the 4 people.”
“I call this fancy gourmet gringo Mexican food. Doesn’t mean it isn’t good, just not authentic and I would not expect authentic Mexican in Scotland anyway. The service is ok. The ambiance is upbeat and good Spanish music. Fairly extensive menu of street tacos, enchiladas, burritos, tostadas, starters. Good variety of tequilas and margaritas. We shared between three of us: grilled prawn tostadas, roasted cauliflower street tacos, charred corn and refried bean quesadillas, chipotle roast vegetables quesadillas. Husband also ordered shredded honey pork tacos. Everything was very flavorful. Nothing spicy though. The Union Mezcal old fashioned margarita was good with mezcal tequila although a bit too sweet. The Tommy margaritas were even sweeter. Overall a very good dinner and I would recommend.”
“The best Mexican restaurant bar none! The staff are fabulous and didn’t try to rush us as we were choosing what we wanted. They answered all the questions we had about the drinks and brought our chosen food and drinks really quickly. We shared a cheese and haggis quesadilla starter, mains were a burrito and enchilada and we rounded it off with some delicious sorbet. It was so nice to talk, eat and drink in such a relaxed atmosphere and we were more than happy to leave a tip as the whole meal was such good value for money. We can’t wait to come back the next time we are in Edinburgh.”
“One of the best food places we tried in Edinburgh. My friend brought me because she’s come here every time she visits Edinburgh. The fresh guacamole made at the table is amazing, the cocktails are great and I loved the prawn tacos.”
“Nice food. Mango and herb is recommended! Nice customer service when there is less customers, and it’s totally understandable when there are more customers because they will get really busy… I enjoyed it :) I had it for 4 years from the 2nd year of my uni n now i finished my postgraduate.”
“Visited for a few drinks while having a mini break in Edinburgh. Managed to get a window seat and looking onto Princess Street. Warm, comfortable and inviting environment. Staff were attentive and friendly. Cocktails were lush. Initially only wanted a couple of drinks but ended up ordering the three small plates from the menu, I am so glad we did! They were all yummy! The beef Wellington tacos were amazing! Will definitely return on our next visit to Edinburgh”
“I have passed this place many times and I have never gone in but I was very impressed. The food was high quality, but simple, which is what I want from a breakfast spot. The prices were ridiculously reasonable, and there were many options for the size of your breakfast; I came with my boyfriend and got the all day veggie, which was great for brunch for me, and he got the ‘biggest veggie’ at a marginally higher price and was more suitable to his needs. The hash browns were crispy and the eggs were perfectly done. My boyfriend is Scottish and he rated the veggie sausages, the haggis and the tattie scones! The staff were really nice while still being efficient. We came on a sunday morning and managed to get a lovely spot by the window, which despite being busy, still felt like it was private and we were able to enjoy our food. The only complaint would perhaps be that I wish there was the option to get filter coffee as only americanos feels slightly fussy and the coffee could be a bit better. Such a minor note though! Go here!!!”
“Had a fantastic meal here. Was pleasantly surprised. Really handy place if you were going to the cinema or bowling across the road. The atmosphere was nice and the staff were all very friendly. Haggis pakora for starter were phenomenal. Best version of it I've had. Cool touch with the Irn Bru hot sauce, too. For the main, i had the butter chicken pie. This was also really very tasty, good quality curry that you could tell had been cooking for a while. I would definitely recommend this place if you are in the area.”
“In with my work supporting adults with autism which if you’ve ever worked in the industry they pay for you to eat with the individuals unlike what another reviewer suggests. Staff were very aware of our situation and were very attentive and polite. I would ignore reviews from people who only give 1 star reviews as some passive aggressive way of dealing with their own problems. Food was top quality and would recommend to anyone that can appreciate the good things in life.”
“Great food , quick delivery. We've had a few different things from the menu and all were perfect.”
“Very tasty and generous portion sizes for the tacos. Good drinks list too. Will be back!”
“It was a great experience. I loved the decor and the place. It was small but organized. We ordered the Chicken Tikka Goodness, it was very delicious, everything was fresh and balanced. This won't be the last time. I will come back again. I recommend you try it. Don't miss it.”
“The Beach House is such a lovely spot right on Portobello Beach. Perfect for a relaxed brunch or coffee with a view — the atmosphere is warm and welcoming, and the big windows looking out over the sea make it extra special (outdoor seating also available). The menu has something for everyone, from fresh baked goods and excellent coffee to hearty breakfast and lunch options. Everything we tried was fresh and flavorful, and the service was friendly without being rushed. A perfect seaside café — well worth a visit whether you’re a local or just passing through. Dog friendly as well which is always a plus.”
“Amazing place! Service was particularly phenomenal, especially from our waiter Ross. He provided a very welcoming atmosphere and provided us with excellent recommendations of what food to order, on top of this he showed genuine interest and when I told him about my love of rugby he showed me the Fresh Mex rugby ball! 10/10 experience, great value for money would highly recommend!”
“This place was truly beautiful, the food was absolutely amazing and Ro was such a lovely server who made sure everything was okay and went above and beyond. Love this place, best meal in Edinburgh Ive had and the prices were amazing on the set winter menu x”
“This is an excellent place to eat at. The staff were all incredibly friendly. The food was incredibly delicious. I got the Full Scottish Breakfast; first time trying the haggis and it was great!! It was seasoned well and tasted great along with the other items. My family also enjoyed their meals.”
“Has everything fantastic food, great choice of drinks and cocktails. Amazing staff!!! Cosy inside tables outside bar outside seating in 2 areas and a pavilion sure to tick all the boxes for everyone!!”
“Loved the quality and quantity of their food. Must visit once, price can be bit lower but still loved it.”
“Lovely restaurant and bar below The Brunswick Hotel. Service was very friendly and the recommended dinner (Chicken Parmgiano) was a perfect fit. Quite wide drink menu and Fever Tree as house tonic that paired lovely with the Gin. Thank you for a pleasent evening.”
“Always make banging burritos, staff are always super nice, good music in store, fresh yummy food!”
“I and a few friends visited Kasbah Takeaway a couple of times last two weeks. It deserves the 5 star rating for many reasons including how friendly the staff was, large portion of the food, very reasonable price for the quality and quantity provided, clean place although there are not a lot of tables because I believe they do more take away. We mainly tried several dishes such as kabsah, karahi, more and we have also taken away a few delicious dishes to ho but will try other things next time. I highly recommend this restaurant for a visit.”
“My favourite restaurant, hands down. Delicious food, great service. They've improved the tacos since I last visited, more sauce now which is great. The wings are amazing, as are the tacos and street corn. I don't even like margaritas but their frozen margs are delicious. Highly recommend.”
“Hand on heart one of the best meals out we've had in a while, and by far the nicest Chiquitos we've been to. Excellent food cooked and served by excellent staff for whom nothing was too much trouble. Niall in particular was very funny, friendly, and attentive. The online booking system was quick and easy to use, and our request on the booking that we were given a booth was honoured by the staff upon our arrival. The food itself was all really delicious and cooked perfectly. We were also impressed by how Covid safe they were. All staff wore their masks properly and the doors into the toilets had a mechanism that allowed you to pull them open using your foot. Would definitely return. 10/10”
“Great food, very courteous servers and incredible location right in the heart of Edinburgh. Highly recommended.”
“Local pub with good value meals. Tasty food, lovely staff. Very accommodating for allergies / intolerances too. James is an absolute star - always brightening up the atmosphere, thanks for great service.”
“It has amazing price and food. Also has a bus stop infrastructure of the hotel so it's very easy to get to Edinburgh.”
“A real gem of a place too stop and and have a coffee and cake, and watch the world go by. It was my first time visiting Portobello beach. And I’m glad that I found this place too! Staff are really friendly and noting is too much trouble for them. Coffee and cake were amazing.”
