“Came back here as I remember really liking the place as a child and was still amazed with how good the restaurant still is. Me and my partner came into the restaurant at 19:30 on a Friday and greeted by the staff which were super friendly. The restaurant was very quiet as well which was very nice to see so we had no problem being seen when we needed to by the staff. Great selection on the menu and we chose the Seafood platter which we both really liked the look of as well as some extra garlic bread. We both really enjoyed the food. Although we would suggest avoiding the garlic bread as it was £4.70 and we only got two small pieces which we didn’t think was too great. Although we thought the seafood platter was really good for the price. We both really enjoyed all the food and would definitely come again.”

“Unusual selection of branded goods and unusual items at super cheap prices. Love their bacon packs, excellent quality and doesn't shrink when cooked. Really interesting items which you might not see elsewhere.”

“Incredible vets. Always very clean and tidy! Jen is absolutely amazing. She is extremely patient and helpful with both dogs, especially the male who has aggressive tendencies. Jen shows so much care and passion, she’s a star.”

“We are always very pleased when Mabel is picked up after Abby has groomed her as she looks and smells gorgeous and comes out feeling pampered. We have been taking Mabel since she was a puppy as they offer a settling in package which gets them used to going to the groomers gently so Mabel is happy to go on a regular basis. I ask for specific cuts to be done sometimes and they are always done as I have requested. I would highly recommend this groomers.”

“Had an amazing roast dinner today! The beef was so good and my wife had the belly pork which was also amazing! The kid’s roast was great too with lots on the plate! Great staff and friendly service as always! Highly recommend!”

“Stayed overnight whilst in the area for a friend’s birthday party. Lovely, clean room with spacious bathroom - shower looked like it had been installed days ago. The best breakfast I’ve had for a long time - freshly cooked eggs royal. Really extensive breakfast menu and very reasonably priced. All cooked to order. Beautiful presentation. Delightful staff.”

“We needed somewhere close to the waterways museum and this was the perfect spot. The staff in the hotel and the restaurant were great, happy, smiling nothing too much trouble and the meal we had was excellent. Our room on the 3rd floor gave us great views over the canals and museum. I would highly recommend. The only potential problem is what appears to be limited parking, although there was a wedding on when we were there which may have been the cause of the problem.”

“Nicely laid out site next to station. Nice easy walks to local farm shop, Chinese Resturant, pubs and Delamere Lake & Forest. Lovely cafe at Delamere Station. Great for exploring Northwich, Chester & Manchester.”

“Stayed for a night as visiting family and very happy with everything. Check in was easy and smooth just as check out. Room was lovely and clean and fresh and even better that we loved it but so did our 2 dogs and it's unusual for them to settle and relax and they did just that. Great location easy to find and get to and from. Looking forward to staying again soon and would highly recommend.”

“I didnr stay at this hotel but went for dinner with friends and I just wanted to say that having eaten several times at this hotel this was the very best. The main thing was the service. We had a delightful young woman that looked after us she was efficient, knowledgeable,well presented and took our orders with minimum effort. Why cant all waiting on staff be like her. She even listened to my suggestion of a large print menu or magnifier to assist people with poor sight to remain independent whilst out. Having spoken in favour of our waiting on staff I should also say the food was lovely too.”

“I would like to express my sincere appreciation for the exceptional service provided by the gentleman who worked night shift on the 27th November 2025. From the moment we arrived, his kindness and warm hospitality made us feel truly welcome. My husband just lost his mam that night and we both were devastated. My husband forgot to register our car but the gentleman offered his help and sorted it out for us. He even offered his condolences which is very kind and heartwarming. Unfortunately we forgot to ask his name. He wears glasses and worked night shift on 27 November 2025. He consistently went above and beyond to ensure every detail was taken care of, always greeting us with a friendly smile and a genuine willingness to help. We only stayed for 1 night but we've already decided to book this hotel again every time we're in the area.”

“Myself and my partner got our 2 kittens and registered with The Gatehouse, on our very first arrival to the vets we were greeted with the most warm welcome I think I've ever experienced. The waiting area was spacious and clean. We have had the very same experienced every time we have been there and even when we have spoken to the reception on the phone. Unfortunately myself and my partner don't have a car and inevitably had to register somewhere where a lot closer to us. I would always recommend this vets to anyone especially if you have the means to get there. You won't regret it they also provide the pet plan which I always think is worth the money in the long run. I don't have anything bad to say at all the only thing that's difficult is that the actual surgery is located in Rossett. However if you can drive this most likely won't be a problem. We were so gutted to have to leave them and even with this in mind they were so lovely about the whole thing. You won't find a better vets.”

“Lovely welcome and easy check in. Our room was gorgeous. Modern, great layout and beautifully cleaned . Large bathroom, big bed, tea, hot chocolate and a cafetiere with proper ground coffee! A comfortable and quiet sleep and a fabulous breakfast included the next morning. Great free parking on site. Set on the river with easy access to river, town and walls. Perfect!”

“Great for younger children. Animals are obviously well cared for (although lots of caged birds and ducks some people may not like). Reasonably priced entry with lots of opportunities to pet and feed the animals. 3 members of staff actively stopped to talk to us about the animals they were caring for which was nice. Wide variety of animals including a Barn owl, ferrets, pigs, sheep, goats, alpacas, canaries, donkeys, hens, peacocks and (rescued) parrots. 2 good playgrounds and a small indoor soft play. The food in the cafe was OK. Menu catered well for dietary requirements. No picnics allowed FYI. We were there for 4 hours including food and feeding the lambs so all in all a good day out.”

“Service was great! As soon as we walked in we were approached by a nice young gentleman with menus ready in hand. The food was excellent we ordered the tuna sandwich and a fish and chips. The tuna sandwich had enough filling on to feed a family it was great! The chips were chip shop style and they were the best chippy chips I’ve ever had. The fish was just to die for. Definitely recommend!!”

“Great friendly pub for games, Pool, Darts etc. or just a drink. Good atmosphere and friendly staff. Rooms are clean and comfy, with all you need for a good night sleep.”

“I booked 13 rooms at The Pied Bull in Chester for myself and a group of work colleagues, and the experience was exceptional from start to finish. The welcome on arrival was warm and genuine, and every member of staff we interacted with was friendly, helpful, and incredibly accommodating (special thanks to the ladies working when I checked in on the evening of the 26/11) The rooms were consistently clean, comfortable, and spacious, with excellent beds and generously sized showers. Everyone in our group commented on how well they slept and how well-maintained the rooms were. The blend of historic character with modern comfort added a special charm that really sets The Pied Bull apart. Breakfast was another standout: high-quality, hearty, and freshly prepared, exactly what we needed to start a busy day. For the standard of accommodation, service, and the central location, the value for money was genuinely impressive. Speaking of location, you couldn’t ask for more and a few of the group said they’d return here if they visit Chester again. Jason”

“Had a couple of drinks in here. Very reasonable in price and friendly service. I'm not a big heavy rock fan but when we went in the music wasn't deafening so quite enjoyed it.”

“Staff were absolutely lovely, the lady could see that we had lots of stuff because we were getting loads of things for uni so she helped us pack it all up and offered for us to leave it in the back and pick it to later with the car.
