“Who thought you could ever get excited by onion rings! Really! They're different to any I've had before. Not to mention a Chicken Burger that was so fresh and tasty, double cooked chips and the best pint of Bass real ale you'll find in the area. The staff were friendly, efficient but not over fussy and the Boss opened the restaurant part for us as the rest of the pub was full - on a Wednesday!”

“Beautiful pub. Huge car park. Alpaca area is great if you have kids. Sunday roast is very nice. Locals are really friendly too and the pub in general is so welcoming to all.”

“Made a last minute reservation for 5pm on New Year's Eve. For visit since it reopened as restaurant within The Red Lion. Lively deco , very clean , excellent welcome. Great menu with interesting Indian dishes as well as British and Italian food. We just had a starter and main course with side dishes and it was delicious. Full of delicate spices and not too hot , just right. A thoroughly delightful meal. The staff were attentive but not overbearing and served each dish with a broad smile , making us feel almost at home. The restaurant was fully booked from 7pm but they let us finish our drinks in the bar/ restaurant area up until we left at 7pm. What seemed like a boringly quite evening turned out to be just what we wanted. A return , with friends will be booked very soon. Highly recommended.”

“Best Sunday dinner that we’ve eaten at a pub/ restaurant in a long time. Food was high quality and beautifully cooked. Two of our party are chefs so they know what they’re talking about! Will definitely return. Only niggle was we couldn’t park in the car park as it was a busy Sunday lunchtime”

“Absolutely excellent, friendly service. Lovely setting in the heart of Cardiff. An easy place to find that serves Welsh food. Never having had Welsh rarebit before, I was eager to try it but I have nothing to compare it to so perhaps that is what it was supposed to taste like. The cheddar was not in any way sharp so perhaps the other ingredients overwhelmed the taste (?). It was effectively toast with a slightly cheesy taste with very little flavor. Bland would the word. The croquets had the right texture. Crispy on the outside, creamy in the middle. But again, it felt under seasoned - although maybe that is what it is supposed to taste like? All in all, worth a visit but if Welsh food is supposed to be bland, then it is certainly that.”

“What a great boozer. Popped in for a quick pint but ended staying for a couple as the atmosphere was so warm. Wished I had time to stay longer. Old school style pub and mean that in the most positive of ways. I'll be going back for sure!”

“Been here numerous times over the years and seen landlords try to release the potential. Whoever has taken the reins has eventually achieved it. This might just be the best pub in Weston at the moment. Atmosphere and food were amazing but what really made our evening was the bar staff. Attentive and charming young crew, keep it up guys. “Quaint little pub that unless you knew it was there you wouldn't know about it. Shame there's no food served there however a great selections of beers and ales. Friendly service and good atmosphere. Saw that they advertised live bands, which is on a Saturday night but unfortunately I was there kn a Friday!!!”
