“Beautiful food and cakes. Had the special salad that day and it was first class. Then a paradise cake with great coffee.”
“Close to the centre, only 3 miles and a £13 cab ride will get you there. Nice clean rooms with a breakfast that sets you up for the day. The couple that run the guest house are friendly and approachable, what more could you want.”
“Absolutely spot on coffee and amazing service! Highly recommended.”
“Beautiful guest house, better than a lot of hotels I have stayed in. Lovely family hosts”
“Surprisingly large room with plenty of space and amenities. Incredible value with faultless service from the host who was continually attentive to all of our needs. Free parking right outside and easy access to public transport into the centre. A comfortable and clean room in an establishment that I will 100% recommend to anyone travelling to Edinburgh.”
“We had a fantastic time ! Our bedroom was lovely and very comfy. The house is not in the city centre but there's a bus stop just outside the door. The breakfast buffet was amazing and the hostess super helpful. Definitely will stay there again!”
“What a lovely Guest House. Our stay was great, as the rooms was lovely and gives you that home away from home feeling. It is good value for money and the personalised service provided by the owner is second to none. The breakfast is also lovely and great value for money. If you looking for a quiet place to stay, this is definitely worth a try.”
“I first came across this tea at a cafe in Doune and told the waitress how much I enjoyed it. I asked which brand it was and she went and checked. I have since ordered 2 boxes direct and am delighted with the product. My old Typhoo(floor scrapings) went straight in the bin!”
“Beautiful bright space with a lovely mix of greens, blues, and yellows. Had a lovely cortado and a great bacon and brie sandwich. Had a great selection of food and drinks as well!”
“Very cosy place to have a coffee and cake. I loved the snuggled tables inside and one of the best scones I ever had.”
“We've often seen a show here for the Fringe but not prepared to pay over the odds for a room. However, we did have a meal here this week which was excellent. It's a small, relaxed bar area. Staff were very welcoming and attentive. Prices surprisingly reasonable too, especially during the Fringe. Will definitely return for a meal on our next visit”
“We were in Bathgate to collect something and we were starving. We were going to walk past, but decided to go in. What a gem of a place. 2 double rolls and 2 cappuccinos later we were satisfied. That staff were so cheerful, nothing was too much trouble and table service too. We always support local businesses wherever we go. May I say that 1 of the previous reviews said that it is expensive for a coffee, no it's not, to be able to sit at a table, have your order taken, your order brought out to your table and all for under £15, I would rather pay that than stand in a queue, be treated like cattle and have my coffee from a paper cup, just to save a few pennies. I would highly recommend The Coffee Club in Bathgate. Thank you guys for a great brunch.”
“Had the chicken curry with rice. Lots of rice, lots of crispy juicy chicken. Friendly staff. Had the lunch deal, do only 9£ for the meal. Drinks included”
“I've been buying from Forth Coffee Roasters for the past 18 months and am delighted with the quality and freshness of the coffee beans, the delivery speed and the price.”
“Great selection of half decent gelato and cappuccino with friendly staff at very reasonable prices.”
“Really enjoyed my evening here. Starters & mains were excellent. A great relaxing atmosphere with very nice staff. Was great to pop next door to Krafty fine drinks for some beers. The only negative was the desserts which were underwhelming. Overall an excellent wee spot in Kirkcaldy and I highly recommend.”
“I honestly don’t write reviews much, but had to say something about Vinay at Starbucks. He’s just one of those people who makes your day better without even trying. Every time I come in, he’s super friendly and somehow remembers my order (even when I forget it myself lol). There’s always a good vibe when he’s around — like he actually enjoys talking to people, not just doing the job. The drink he made today was perfect, and he even took the time to ask how my day was going. Small things like that really stand out.”
“Such a cute little place. We came as a family, curious to try the coffee and enjoy the coffee art, and it didn’t disappoint. The menu offers delicious and varied options, from fresh salads to toasties, bagels and pouched eggs. The staff were lovely too. And the coffee truly tastes like real coffee, especially compared to many other places in Edinburgh. Highly recommended!”
“The coffee was a nice roast and the breakfast was made with quality ingredients.”
“If I lived in the Old Town, I'd be here every day. I had a Scottish Full Breakfast and a Cappuccino, which were perfect. With the added bonus of being welcome by friendly, efficient staff.”
“Great space with a great menu! Perfect study spot if you like a bit of background noise and a nice cuppa. The team is very hospitable.”
“Lovely place to grab some quick breakfast and coffee. Sad we waited until our last day in Edinburgh to try it or we world have gone more often! Lovely environment and super friendly staff that were quick to serve. Highly recommend!”
“Lovely, clean and calming. I had made a rather lengthy walking journey with my baby in his pram to the new bakery up the road to find it was closed, despite saying it was open online. Tired, achey and in need of a cold refreshment, I came across this cafe ‘coffee angel’. Sounded perfect!! The lady who served me was lovely and calming. The location is perfect and quiet as it’s off the beaten track. Seats are a-plenty and my coffee was presented beautifully! Thank you!”
“Last August I spent a week at Emmaus House. It is a place of great hospitality. Janet and Andrew are very welcoming and hospitable. I felt very much at home. They are always there for every guest. Both helped me with the information I needed and the language. Our breakfast was a wonderful time, every day there were different people from different countries, so there were many experiences shared. It felt like a family. I had the opportunity to share other’s experiences and joy. It was a brilliant time. On my last day there, Janet cooked a delicious supper for us. I made friends there and I would like to go back and spend some days with them. I greatly recommend Emmaus House. Rosemeire Dos Reis”
“The Beach House is such a lovely spot right on Portobello Beach. Perfect for a relaxed brunch or coffee with a view — the atmosphere is warm and welcoming, and the big windows looking out over the sea make it extra special (outdoor seating also available). The menu has something for everyone, from fresh baked goods and excellent coffee to hearty breakfast and lunch options. Everything we tried was fresh and flavorful, and the service was friendly without being rushed. A perfect seaside café — well worth a visit whether you’re a local or just passing through. Dog friendly as well which is always a plus.”
“It was a truly great experience. The nightly music created such a vibrant atmosphere, and the staff were absolutely amazing — warm, attentive, and full of positive energy.”
“I was there in 1999 & 2001 with my family, we were really happy being there. Small but confortable rooms , well done and delicious Scottish breakfast included.. I hope for July 2023 it will be available to receive me and 2 friends.. it will be an awesome experience and grateful MEMORIES .”
“Great location- about 20 minutes walk to Edinburgh centre or less than 5 minutes walk to the nearest bus stop. The Guest house was lovely. We stayed on the top floor which had a nice view. The room was good for two people. Free WiFi in the room and even just outside the front door. The manager was really helpful in everything we needed. It was in a quiet neighbourhood that felt quite safe. There were many dining and coffee places nearby as well as supermarkets. I would definitely like to stay there if in Edinburgh again!”
“Limited parking, but perfect place to get bus service”
“I feel like Blackwood Coffee is something of an underrated wee gem. It's been here unchanged for years now, but the coffee is good and although it's small, the wood panelling is like no other coffee shop in Edinburgh. But the real reason to come is if you need a chocolate hit: the chocolate tiffin is the best, rich and dark. No-one else has tiffin this good.”
