“We had a fantastic 2 night stay at Sonas! We loved the clean and quiet room with lots of amenities, free parking, and walkable distance to downtown. Lots of delicious restaurants close by also! Thank you for the fantastic hospitality!”
“Had lovely fruit pastry and tea and coffee with my brother sitting outside in the sun looking at the beautiful nature that surrounds this gem of a place . See you again soon”
“Beautiful sitting. Delicious scones. Exceptional service. I went to enjoy tea and a scone. I asked for extra warm tea, which they kindly provided. They kindly replaced my half eaten scone after it fell, without asking or charge. I hope to visit again and fully recommend a visit to whoever is in the city.”
“The food was a solid 10/10 ⭐️ everything tasted so authentic and full of flavour. The kaya toast was definitely my favourite, perfectly done and so comforting. The service was great too friendly and efficient. Loved the vibe overall. Would definitely visit again!!!”

“Really awesome experience! Food and drinks were amazing! I went there with 4 friends and we were really happy and pleased with our food! Also the people were really friendly! And the best about this place -> non-human animals don't get exploited for the food and drinks there!”
“Super great vibe here! Staff is extremely friendly and helpful with allergies as they have a bunch of gluten free options. Seating is a bit limited but people are happy to share tables!”
“Second time to this shop near Waverly station. We love their coffee and this time we came for a morning bite. Lovely place, people and coffee. Definitely a place to try if you haven't tried it yet.”
“Absolutely lovely place. Got a delicious brie & cranberry panini. Highly recommended.”
“First ever time going here, lovely little cosy shop, hot chocolates were amazing! A little wait on food however it all taste amazing, would definitely reccomend and will definitely be back here”
“Dene Guest House was wonderful. Besides the place being immaculate, Hamish and his amazing Spanish wife were extremely friendly and accommodating. We stayed 5 nights and enjoyed the quiet and tranquility of the neighborhood. The shared bathroom was never a problem - we almost never had to wait. As budget travelers, we highly appreciated the free cereal, coffee and fridge available to us. Would definitely return.”
“This place is set in a gorgeous little garden and quite hidden out the way. The food was amazing and the place very busy so bear that in mind for a last minute drop in. The gardens are also dog friendly with the staff being very attentive to both you and your dogs needs. The chocolate brownies and “The Usual Suspect” (bacon roll) are highly recommended.”
“Underrated hotel! The room was huge, had a big bathtub, a double bed, a bunk bed, and even a couch — all for just £100. Super good value. The staff were super friendly and helpful. The location’s great too, just a short walk to the tram station and about 25 minutes to the city center. Also loved having my own fridge and access to a 24-hour kitchen. Would definitely stay again.”
“Lovely place the toys outside for the kids to play with the dogs and being able to sit outside with my family was so relaxing and the staff where very friendly and the coffee and treats where great too will definitely come back.”
“Lovely cafe set in a beautiful garden. The food is always freshly prepared and delicious.”
“This bakery is absolutely fantastic! They have so many choices, from fresh breads to amazing cakes that taste as good as they look. The coffee is excellent and pairs perfectly with their pastries. The staff are always so kind, welcoming, and attentive, which makes every visit such a pleasure. It’s the perfect spot whether you want to grab a quick coffee or sit and enjoy a sweet treat. Highly recommend!”
“My partner Mic and I absolutely loved this little cafe. It’s got the best food and the couple that run it are so lovely and welcoming you feel like your locals and friends the second you enter the shop. If you’re staying in the South Bridfe area, definitely stop in for a coffee or a delectable croissant, or even just a friendly chat with the owners.”
“Cute little coffee shop. Locals popping in & then jumping on the train. Flat white was strong & delicious.”
“Lovely warm & cosy place with rustic wood deco. The seating is bar style & booth. Service was fast & staff were friendly. Had the croissant, warmed. It was flaky & tasty. The fruit scone with butter & jam was also good. Had the jam been homemade & runny, it would have been better. Latte was also good.”
“Great coffee and incredible sandwiches. Staff is super friendly and the Cafe itself is very cozy!”
“A brilliant, busy, friendly cafe. Both coffee and breakfast were delicious, and the staff very polite and professional. Highly recommended.”
“We enjoyed a wonderful tea in the bistro today following my mother's funeral. We received so many comments on the generosity of portions and lovely fresh food on offer from everyone who attended the tea. The food was delicious and obviously lovingly prepared and the serving staff were very attentive and very friendly. Well done to all!!!”
“A small, hidden gem near Linlithgow Palace. The food was amazing & I highly recommend the Scottish Breakfast!”
“Happened upon this by chance. Small and so welcoming. We had homemade soup (tomato n herbs) with bread. Beautifully served and very tasty. As far as I'm aware everything is homemade. Not a large menu but well thought out choices. Great coffee - one of the best macchiatos I've had in a long time. Great service and very patient, friendly staff. Will definitely go back.”
“April 24’ Saturday morning Come here early, it will be packed easily. Family friendly and bookable tables. Flat white has nice balance of coffee taste and milk, tastes fresh and nice.”
“The Lodge Coffee House – A Caffeinated Trip into the Surreal Nestled in the caffeinated underbelly of Edinburgh lies The Lodge Coffee House, a stone sanctum where time sips itself backwards and espresso machines hum ancient jazz riffs. Upon entering, we were greeted by Mick, a man forged from equal parts kindness, bacon, and 80's nostalgia. Like a caffeinated Gandalf, he emerged from the steam with eyes full of welcome and hands full of bacon barms. He threw them at us, not aggressively, but like a benevolent goblin flinging gifts at chosen mortals. The coffee.... the coffee. Brewed by a barista who may have once been a shaman, the flat white shared secrets. The atmosphere, like being hugged by a velvet bear in a log cabin built by monks who understand everything. We had a chat with Mick about life, meat, and the nature of gravy. At one point, he levitated slightly while describing his sausage procurement strategy. The location is prime, trees bowed politely as we sipped. In short, The Lodge is not just a coffee house. It’s a mystical experience wrapped in cured meat and friendliness. Five out of five cosmic beans. Would definitely go again.”
“Great experience, the cafe is very ricked away, and to its benefit, the whole place has a calm ans casual atmosphere that can be a bit hard to get in Edinburgh during the Fringe. I loved everything I got, and my dog enjoyed his pup cup and treats, as well as the calm atmosphere... Which he broke for a momment with a single high pitched bark for attention... Sorry about that!”
“Delicious mocha, calm atmosphere, very friendly staff at this family business. Great for a leisurely coffee while exploring the area.”
“Very helpful staff who knows about coffee beans. Tell what kind of taste you like and they will suggest the best origin. The interior decoration is very nice. In my opinion, the best coffee shop in the UK.”
