“First of all, the location is fantastic. It's right across from St. Giles Cathedral and is always crowded. As a woman, walking alone at night or early in the morning wasn't a problem. The rooms and restrooms are very clean. The bunk beds have curtains, like capsules, which is great for privacy. All the staff are very sweet and friendly. As a woman traveling alone, I felt very comfortable and safe. However, it's an expensive hostel. Not so budget-friendly. The cafe/restaurant part isn't exactly a common area, so you can't comfortably eat or drink what you buy from outside.”

“Gladstone house is in a fanstatic location to the city. The acvomodation and breakfast were exceptional but yhd best part where the brilliant couple who run Galdstone very welcoming and friendly . Thanks for making out stay so good ,will defonately book again”

“We had a lovely 3-night stay at Sonder Royal Garden. Smooth check in, great location, and very happy with our “superior two bedroom” room — it was clean and well-stocked. As mentioned in some of the reviews, the hotel does not have AC; however, the windows open and the hotel provided a box fan for each bedroom (which effectively cooled our rooms down and served as a sound machine for the street outside). Excellent hotel for independent/self-sufficient travelers.”

“Stopped in for lunch on the off chance. Highly recommended. The service was great, the food was amazing. If only I could have squeezed in a dessert... Perfect for a post walk rest. If you're within visiting distance, you won't regret it.”

“The Owner was friendly and the Lady who was looking after the caravan park whilst I stayed was very friendly and helpful. (It’s terrible but after two and a bit months I’ve forgotten her name). The shower and toilet block were very new looking and clean. The kitchen was well set-up and modern also. The wifi was great in the kitchen.”

“This hostel was a very friendly cheery place with a very kind staff. The hostel had a good location and good security as well. The rooms and bathrooms were clean and the kitchen was well stocked. The lounge area was welcoming and made it easy to meet people. Really enjoyed the stay here!”

“(Solo female traveller) This was my first experience using a hostel and it was great. The staff are very friendly and the beds are comfortable. The bathrooms were very clean and it was convenient to have secure lockers in the rooms to store items that I didn't want to carry around all day. The curtain fits well around the bottom of the bed and I felt no issues with personal safety etc. The only negative I can think of would be that the keypads beep when you use them - helpful during the day, annoying at night. However, I am a light sleeper, even with earplugs. I decided to book here again on the return leg of my journey, so it really wasn't that much of an issue!”

Think some of these so called top Edinburgh restaurants need to have a look at how to look after people like this. Well done all !”

“What an absolutely cracking little cafe. This is the perfect location to go and have a coffee and a cake. Take the dog in. I just get a really good feel from this place, and keep going back.”

“Good facility - staff seem friendly and engaged with dogs. Very polite woof van driver and owner Danielle always happy to answer any queries. They take dogs of all sizes it seems, but keep them separated by size/age/temperament. The area where the dogs are is secure and there’s loads of space for them to run around. My puppy really enjoys it. He goes straight to sleep when he’s back home! The only minus is the location if you’re not driving, as getting there by public transport is a mission. They do offer pick up van service though, but you have to book in advance and via email.”

“Our dachshund Seve has been staying with Catrina several times a year for the last 11 years. He absolutely loves his time with Catrina & Kobe. He is treated like one of the family & he has so much fun when he’s there. We’re always happy to leave Seve as we never have to worry about him when we’re away.
