“We had a really nice time the food was very good as well which was nice. The penguins were very cute. Probably can spend a few hours there.”
“Friendly staff and nice that they check up on you about your medication.”
“Fantastic all round. We asked for a nice table if possible with it being our anniversary and we got a great spot in the corner, which was appreciated. The staff were great, friendly and efficient. The food was absolutely excellent. Great experience and a fantastic choice of ales too! Thanks to all the staff, chefs and management.”
“Great place for a drink and some lovely Thai food, bar staff were really friendly and the waiter in the Thai restaurant was also great. Worth a visit if you’re nearby and need some food. This isn’t your usual ‘next to the stadium pub’”
“We recently had our wedding reception at Archive. In the build-up Jay was always on hand to answer queries and offer help and advice. On the day the staff were incredibly helpful and friendly ensuring we had the best day ever! In fact, it was so good, we might get married all over again! Would certainly recommend as a venue for wedding/party etc. Thanks for helping to make it a great day.”
“Great pub! The food was really good, and the service was friendly and efficient. A nice place to relax and enjoy a meal or a drink.”
“I stayed at the Halfway House B&B while working in Leeds, its a lovely pub with great ales, friendly welcoming staff and locals alike. The girl behind the bar even recommended places to get an evening meal. The bar itself was very clean and decorated nicely with large tv screens, pool table and darts board. The room I stayed in was what seemed to be in a converted house joined onto the pub. The room was very modern, spotlessly clean with comfortable furnishings and bed. The following morning I had a lovely cooked breakfast (i had veggie option but there was a great choice to suit all) with toast, Juice and tea, served in the bar area of the pub by a friendly lady who couldn't do enough for you. I would definitely stay there again next time I'm working up there.”
“My favourite park. I live not far. Great place for a walk, cycling and running and many other events. Beautiful view around. Little lakes and garden. Massive space for walkers or people who do sports. House is great too. Farm _ great for kids and children. I just love it each time of the year.”
“This museum is fantastic. Downstairs they've built a Victorian street with shops you can wander around, with so many little details to see. There's a dress up shop, too! Upstairs, there are several galleries with old toys and even old game machines that you can play with old pennies, so bring some coins to exchange! Lots of fun, so much hands on stuff, several play areas for children, overall a brilliant museum well worth the small entry price.”
“Delivers on every level. It was our second visit & we sat upstairs and it was full of charm & artifacts from time gone by. Our server was brilliant & the food tasted fantastic. Come hungry the Sunday roasts were huge.”
“New to the area and had gone by on the bus a couple times, the beer garden always looked so inviting. So we booked in a Sunday roast - can do online or over the phone. Were originally booked in around 4, but were in the area earlier and decided to pop in and see if we could eat 2 hours earlier (annoying I know but we just wanted to see if there was space on the off chance). They were super understanding and accommodating. The food was amazing, came quickly and tasted amazing! The portions were huge!!! The staff were so lovely and attentive. Honestly couldn’t ask for more. After an amazing roast we had one more drink outside in the beer garden which was clean, beautifully put together and there were quite a few friendly dogs out there too, which is always lovely. Will be back!”
“Beautiful hotel, very close to train station and a short walk from the main shopping area of York. We had a lovely visit, and most of the staff were very courteous, welcoming and friendly. The room was well presented and we had a very comfortable bed. It is a higher priced hotel and you could see the attention to detail and little touches that made it special. We were slightly disappointed that we didn't receive the same warm level of greeting as other guests. It was a stay we'd saved for and had looked forward to very much. It was obvious they had regulars, which is fantastic and means the hotel gets it right as a general rule. But it would have been nice if we'd had a little conversation with the check-in member. The couple being checked in next to us were being asked very general questions like where they'd travelled from, creating a little conversation, but we didn't get the same; just a hello and asked about what card we wanted to put on file for incidentals and then silence. I did attempt to make a little polite conversation with the receptionist but it was clear that they were not interested. It made us feel a little awkward. Asking simple customer service questions makes guests feel welcome and at ease, which we didn't experience at that point. On checking out it was better; we were asked if we'd enjoyed our visit to York, where we were going back to, etc. It made us feel more welcome, even though we were checking out. All in all though, our check in experience hasn't put us off booking in again at some point. Chances are it was an exception to their usual level of service.”
“Great place for food especially on a Sunday, gets busy so booking is a good idea”
“All the staff we met was absolutely great, friendly and helpful. We never eat here other then breakfast which was delicious and a fair choice and we actually got to see the kitchen area and it was spotlessly clean and the breakfast service spot on. The room we had was clean and comfortable which is all you really need only niggle I had was TV in the room was tiny for the distance it's mounted to the top of the bed where you sit to watch it's not the best, but thats just for us.”
“Quirky and fun! The decor is all kinds of classic English history with a hearty splash of irreverence, split across a couple buildings that feel like homes rather than a hotel. The room itself was small, but that suited me perfectly — great for a solo traveller. Only thing to note is I’m somewhat tall for a woman and on that bed I just about could touch my toes to the window sill while my head was by the headboard. I thought it was quite fun but taller people might want to take note. Everything was neat and clean, and the bed was comfortable. The walls are a little thin, like in any old house, so you can hear some bustling in the morning, but I personally found that endearing. The staff were very kind and friendly, and even introduced me to the hotel cat, Teddy! The location is great, just a 10-15 minute walk to the centre of town. I come through York frequently so I can say with certainty and delight that I’ll be staying here again! Thanks again to the staff for a lovely experience.”
“Value. The Merchant Adventurers Hall has to be a must-see location for York. From the condition of the building, to the layout of what you see to the shop and cafe to the admission price it's the top tourist attraction for the price. I highly recommend the food in the cafe and suggest you plan on eating there after visiting. I think my favorite thing was the amazing run of years of continuous use and care provided for this magnificent building.”
“We stayed one night and it was such a peaceful place — amazing views of the Minster. The staff were kind and helped us find good vegan breakfast spots”
“Stayed at the inn for the weekend. Rooms are nice and clean. Right next to the pub, but you can't hear it, even the live music. Pub is lovely. Maybe the menu is lacking choice, but the pizzas are really delicious. Parking doesn't have number plate recognition anymore so no issues with it. There's no breakfast, but café across the road is serving sandwiches and cakes.”
“We decided to drop in here for our evening meal on the off chance and I am so glad we did, such a Beautiful little restaurant. Staff were so friendly. We had food from the specials boards which was Devine. Priced very reasonable too. Service was quick and efficient.”
“Home from home and will be back! Lovely, friendly, helpful, genuine staff that work hard and are a credit to The Minster. Rooms clean and more than sufficient. Very happy with the bed and had an excellent sleep! Breakfast plentiful with prompt and friendly service. The location is a 10 min walk from train station and 5 min walk to the Shambles. Loved it!”
“A great place, a smaller theatre, is sometimes the best. Especially when you see your bro's play.”
“Very lovely little pub with amazing staff on bar. Great place to have so local!”

“National Trust so have to be a member or pay to see the house and some of the grounds but lots of the grounds are free to walk around. Pay to park though! House is really nice to look round and there’s a kids adventure playground is in the ‘pay grounds’ too. Nice courtyard with tables.and cafe for food. Give a a visit.”
“Nostell Priory in Wakefield is a peaceful mix of history and nature. The grand house and calm parkland are beautiful to explore, and we even saw cows grazing nearby, which made it feel extra serene. A lovely place for a quiet walk and fresh air.”
“Got my season ticket for next season”
“Myself and a couple of friends went there for the first time, open mike night. Wow, it's so tastefully decorated, clean and modern, we felt very welcome, had a brilliant night. We'll definitely be going again, we've joined and became members to support the place although non members are welcome.”
“Lovely real ale pub. Nice atmosphere, friendly staff. Great beer garden. Best Sunday lunch ever and delicious pizzas”
