“Having been staying here for sometime now, I can't fault any of the staff that work here. Everyone is extremely professional and very friendly and have always been helpful to me. Rooms are basic, but very clean. Cleaners are always around and supply clean towels, tea and coffee etc when required. Excellent location”
“A wonderful wkend away with my partner before lockdown, very relaxing. The hosts were amazing and very hospitable. Large en-suite rooms, each with a different theme. Very clean, bar on site, excellent home made meals and live music in evenings. We will definitely be staying again!! Perfect for romantic getaways or just a change of scenery or that special occasion. Genuinely had a blast.”
“I stayed at the Village Hotel Bracknell for a few days and was genuinely surprised by how much I liked it. The room was spotless, modern, and felt warm rather than sterile like many chain hotels. The bed was incredibly comfortable, and the shower had that perfect water pressure you always hope for but rarely get. The staff were one of the best parts — everyone I interacted with was genuinely friendly and helpful, not just polite because they had to be. Check-in was fast, and it felt like they actually cared about making things easy for guests. The bar and restaurant had a great atmosphere in the evening, and the food was really good. Breakfast the next morning was fresh, well stocked, and the coffee was surprisingly great. I also used the gym and pool — both clean, modern, and clearly well maintained. The location made it easy to get around, especially if you’re driving. It’s close to the motorway, has plenty of parking, and isn’t far from places like Windsor or Ascot. Overall, it’s one of those hotels where everything just works the way it should. Comfortable, friendly, and stress-free — I’d definitely stay again. Celine very nice and kind❤️”
“Visited Heckfield Place for the second time this year, and the experience was every bit as impressive, if not more so, than our first stay last year. This place will always hold a special place in my wife and I’s hearts, and even objectively it stands out as one of the top-tier establishments we’ve ever stayed at. From the room quality and finishing to the food and breakfast offerings, every detail is beautifully executed. This time we had the privilege of dining at Hearth Restaurant, which was absolutely outstanding. The service was impeccable from check-in to check-out; there wasn’t a single thing you could fault them for. We also loved walking around the lovely grounds, enjoying the afternoon tea and cake service, and relaxing with drinks in the intimate Moon Bar. Everything felt seamless, from the interiors to the setting to the hospitality. In short, Heckfield Place is exceptional in every sense, and we’re already looking forward to our next visit.”
“Just came back from lovely Japanese dinner. Wine was perfectly paired with meal and food was absolutely delicious! Both Miwa and myself come from Japan and must say we rarely find authentic Japanese food around this area. So we were happy to taste authentic Japanese food and it was a perfect place to feel like back in Japan! Thank you ☺️”
“We had the set lunch at the Pot Kiln....fabulous food and fantastic service...with a competitively priced menu! The Iberian inspired menu is full of flavour and well presented...From the padron peppers to the Catalan fish stew to the Basque cheesecake with macerated berries...the flavours are nicely balanced and cooked to perfection! Moreover, the great selection of wines nicely complemented the amazing food! The countryside of Yattendon is an idyllic setting to enjoy fantastic food and brilliant service at the Pot Kiln!”
“Very nice gammon & mustard sandwich on white bread, with salad and chips. Nice relaxing atmosphere. Nice tables and chairs.”
“Lovely place, lovely rooms, great breakfast and fantastic staff”
“we stayed at the Crazy fox boutique on the evening of the 20th april 2024, the same day we got married close by at Rackleys. The booking process was straight forward and once booked i called the hotel explaining we would be arriving late and was that an issue and would we be able to drop our bag off on the morning of the wedding, Tina was amazing on the phone and helped me sort out the little details, and on the day of i got a text from Emma letting me know she was there and was on hand to show me how to use the keypad and helped me with bringing in the bags to the room. I dont think i have ever had such amazing attentive service from a hotel before ever. The morning after the wedding emma brought us up breakfast to our room along with fresh brewed coffee, again it was these amazing little touches which made the stay for us, i have not mentioned how lovely and clean, spacious and comfy the bed was, it was like sleeping on a pillow. The hotels location was perfect as we went for a walk after breakfast and enjoyed a lovely view from the bridge close to the hotel on our first morning as a married couple. In conclusion the hotel is lovely the service is outstanding and breakfast was incredible, you will not regret booking this fabulous little boutique hotel”
“Really quite exceptional hotel right by Farnborough Airport. I was in many ways taken aback by the quality of the hotel, the staff, the rooms and the food from the brasserie. This hotel has a lovely ‘feel’ to it, I felt welcomed, comfortable and relaxed. It’s clear that whoever is in charge has imbued the staff with a solid customer-focussed ethos. There are lots of ‘little touches’ you’ll love. I won’t spoil the surprise. Book a stay and see for yourself.”
“Celebrated our Mum's 80th birthday with a family afternoon tea in the Floyd suite balcony, it was lovely the room the food and service were excellent. Would love to thank all the staff at Stirrups for their assistance with everything.”
“Travelled for work, fantastic quiet spot just outside of reading. Old characterful building. Rooms pleasantly modernised, particularly new/modern bathroom. Room spotless/clean. WiFi fast for working if required. Lady who served breakfast provides a friendly start to the day, all staff in fact very welcoming and helpful. Food in restaurant is good, flavourful and a varied selection. Tea/coffee/water in rooms restocked daily. If in the area I would definitely stay again.”
“Welcomed by member of staff and taken straight to table. Drinks offered immediately. Food very well presented and where applicable piping hot. Sausage and Mash and Fish and Chips both delicious. Seasonal vegetables well cooked. Prices seemed very reasonable for the Reading/Basingstoke area. Overall a very enjoyable lunchtime experience.”
“Even if you’re not a rower, this is a remarkable find – wonderful location, gorgeous old club, very spacious, comfortable, and bright room. And if you are a rower, the memorabilia is amazing and a drink on the deck watching the crews go by is a blast. It’s like being invited to stay at the Vatican for an evening.”
“This hotel is lovely, sited in the middle of the lovely small town of Henley. We stayed two nights and the staff were fabulous. Special thanks to Daniella and Sahara for looking after us so well. The hotel room was large, with load of hangers in the wardrobe, great bedside tables and a super comfy armchair. The bathroom was clean and large, with lots of surfaces for us to unpack our toiletries to. Henley itself is great. We strolled up the street from the hotel”
“Another excellent stay at this welcoming and good value pub. As always we were very well fed and watered! An ideal stop off location for cyclists and walkers (King Alfred’s Way is close at hand). Lyn, Pat and team are excellent hosts and go that extra mile. The garden and terrace provide a great spot for an evening sundowner.”
“We spent an amazing birthday weekend here, and it truly exceeded expectations. The location is stunning—an old mansion surrounded by a huge estate that’s perfect for peaceful walks and quiet, relaxing days. The building itself is full of history and incredibly spacious, with each room offering its own charm. It’s the kind of place you want to return to again and again, just to experience staying in every room. The staff deserve special mention—they were wonderfully helpful and friendly. When we realized our Standard room was close to the wedding venue and a bit noisy, they quickly helped us move to a quieter room, making our stay even more enjoyable. Overall, it was a memorable stay in a beautiful setting. Highly recommended for anyone looking for a mix of history, tranquility, and genuine hospitality.”
“This place is incredible, it has a fantastic mixture of dinning and drinking. The food is amazing from the starters to the deserts. I’ve been many of times and I am never afraid to change my order as every single food on the menu is just cooked to perfection. My kids also loved their food but more importantly they loved the staff, the staff are very friendly and warming, Leo the gentleman that runs it is one of the nicest guys I’ve met and he was the reason I started going there. He worked at another restaurant a few years ago and because of his great service he provided, me and my wife had to follow him on his new ventures. Honestly if you need a good affordable lunch, date night, family dinner or even a drink this place is a must. Thank you Leo and the team for being amazing!”
“We took a party of 47 oldies and volunteers for a day trip to Henley on 11 June - a river boat trip along the Henley regatta course and on to the Baskerville Arms in Shiplake for a wonderful lunch and a relaxing afternoon in their beautiful pub garden before the coach trip back home to Farnham. Graham and Gill were so helpful in advance of our visit - creating a special menu and endeavouring to meet specific needs. And on the day all food was served in good time and efficiently by a team of happy and willing staff with everybody getting what they had advanced ordered. So many positive comments from our oldies - they want to go back next year!! Graham also ensured that the coach could park right outside the pub making life so much easier for everyone. Thank you for a ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️++ service and meal.”
“We went for an open day. Viewing the facilities which include a gym, swimming pool, croquet lawn, restaurants - it’s a fabulous setting in the river. The open day gives you a chance to see what you can have for a yearly membership. You can also book the venue for weddings and/or parties . It’s a beautiful venue”
“Brilliant little find on the way back up north from the coast; lovley menu with items you won't find in the average pub. Food was fantastic, the pork rolled roast being a total hit with me .. this would be our regular if we weren't 3hrs away ..”
“5star is a minimum I can give to the staff and to the hotel in all aspects. We have a wonderful stay! The staff are incredibly welcoming and helpful, and the hotel's location is perfect for exploring the city. Our room is clean and comfortable, with everything we needed. The breakfast is delicious and good value, though we wish we could stay along time here . We'll definitely stay longe as needed !".”
“Great room, friendly staff/owner in attendance, good parking, convenient location. Will use again. No road noise in room.”
“Great hotel with brilliant service! Arrived at the check-in time and getting into the rooms was easy and having free water and biscuits was a nice touch. Stephan also went above and beyond in accepting our request for late checkout which made our stay even better! Location is brilliant (only about 3mins from the centre and restaurants). For the price paid absolutely brilliant hotel!”
“We have stayed here twice now. Once in 2021 and now in 2025, and it's still as great as ever before. Staff soo professional and helpful. So many facilities on site and most beautiful gardens to explore. Would recommend and so easily accessible from london! Thank you to everyone who made our stay memorable”
“Date of stay: Sat 13 - Sun 14 Dec 2025. Great experience from booking to departure. Loads of parking space, staff helpful, polite & prompt on our arrival and booking us in. Room very clean, comfortable and well-appointed and at dinner and breakfast there was a great choice. Again, staff very attentive - orders taken shortly after being seated and food came quickly after that. No complaint whatsoever - a great stay/experience & we'll definitely be booking again. Only suggestion: would it be possible for some Electric Vehicle charging points to be installed please.”
“So sad to leave ....Wonderful stay from start to finish. Room was lovely and very comfortable. Every single member of staff we encountered were professional and very welcoming. Breakfast and evening meal cooked to perfection. I cannot recommd this hotel enough, we will definately return.”
“Alice was amazing — great service from start to finish. This was our second visit, and the Hinds Head is now our go-to for any special occasion. Alice was especially great with my ADHD, making the whole experience even more comfortable. Highly recommend! Family of 7 Amelia my 2 yr old daughter loved the experience also .”
“Im not from Reading, so 1st visit. It is in a beautiful location and the pub was a proper traditional pub. Really nice crowd of people, different from London as people on different tables chatting away. The staff where great from arrival until leaving. Lots of dogs, and we had 2 dogs and the staff were very patient. Had the roast which was big and all the ingredients very fresh. I had the Guinness brownie too which was lovely. As an add on, on the Tuesday I realised I had left my sunglasses, speaking to Katie who works there they had been handed in so thank you whoever that was. And thanks Katie on helping me get them back to london to me. I look forward to then next visit”
“We had a lovely weekend stay as a family of four — myself, my husband, and our two children. The hotel was perfect for us! The rooms were very clean and comfortable, and the service was excellent throughout our stay. A special thank you to Zara at reception — she was incredibly welcoming, helpful, and professional. Her warm attitude really made a difference. We would definitely recommend this hotel to families looking for a relaxing and well-managed place to stay.”
