“First time visiting since re-opening and was really impressed. Reasonably priced hot drinks, soft drinks, snacks and sandwiches/hot food. Lovely and knowledgeable staff, lots of information about the Chesterfield Canal, local walks and boat trips available. My Mum and I had afternoon tea here too (new venture for them) and it was fantastic. Vegan and vegetarian options were appreciated.”

“First Breakfast visit , WOW , what a fantastic welcome from every single member of staff on duty 1/11/25 , we came into contact with including chef , it was very obvious it’s a lovely place to work , everyone presented as enjoying work , very friendly, informative , helpful and engaging , the restaurant was lovely and clean , what a lovely cooked breakfast, I had 2 today , the continental choice was lovely and the choice of drinks available puts any other chain to shame . We will definitely be back and we are letting all our friends know we loved our visit. I do hope we won’t be disappointed in future visits, but somehow I don’t think so , well done everyone”

“Great location for family, brilliant water feature play area. Climbing frames, swings open space for picnics. Toilets, cafe and ice cream parlour, lovely walk arond the lake, fishing, lovely scenery. Free parking, well maintained paths, this place is great for all ages, and short or longer stays and relaxkng days.”

“Sherwood Forest is a well-preserved and accessible destination, suitable for visitors of all ages. Throughout the forest, there are comfortable sitting areas, along with a wealth of fascinating information about trees, animals, and nature conservation efforts.”

“Lovely place, nice walk, and smooth paths for Granddaughter to roller skate. Food van cobs excellent, Sausage, and Ham, reasonable prices !”

“❤️ Lovely walk, clean and quiet. There is a fishing pond for those who fish, lots of little paths through woodland areas. Great place for a stroll, very scenic to say its in Barnsley town centre. Enjoyable for dog walkers, there are paths for when its wet, but gets muddy off the beacon track if you dont mind muddy feet. There are picnic benches around the pond, but the downside to this gorgeous place no rest room facilities along the way. There is also a skateboard park and plenty of parking.”

“We had a lovely stay here! The location is superb- a short walk into Bakewell town and a short drive (most likely bus too) to Chatsworth. The family room has a cool little balcony with lovely views and the staff we met were lovely. Highly recommend and will certainly be back!”

“Great place to stay. The staff were really helpful, friendly and seemed to genuinely enjoy their job. We turned up a group of 5 blokes on motorbikes and were made to feel welcome. Very clean rooms and fantastic facilities. Always loads of hot water and the breakfast was great.”

“Ordered through JustEat, took less than half an hour to be delivered and they were still red hot. The batter on the fish was nice and crispy, lovely white fish, just the right amount of chips without being over faced. The gravy was amazing. Highly recommend to anyone who can get their hands on this takeaway.”

“Found this hidden gem on a recent trip to the Yorkshire Wildlife Park.. so good we visited twice! We stopped in for lunch and were spoilt for choice between the fabulous fresh sandwiches and the delicious homemade salads. Kids also delighted to find pizza as an option for their lunch box! The cafe is spotlessly clean and the AC was very welcome on a hot day. Staff were warm and welcoming, definitely service with a smile. The excellent customer service didn’t stop there. I arrived home to Scotland and realised my glasses had fallen out my bag while in the cafe! After exchanging a few messages on social media, my glasses were posted home to me! Now that really is going the extra mile. Highly recommend popping in for a visit, once of the best independent coffee shops/cafes we have visited in a long time.”

“Stayed at HEX on a coach trip from Cornwall. This is a fantastic hotel the concept of the hotel is fantastic. Rooms modern very clean well equipped. A separate resutrant and bar fantastic to be seperate from rooms. Great to have wildlife park on the complex no travelling. Also a complex of shops places to eat and coffee shops. The staff are wonderful so friendly can't do enough for you it's all the extra care to detail to make your stay great I have stayed in a lot of hotels Hex is first class. Highly recommended. Thanks to all staff see you again.”

“We only had drinks. There is plenty of inside and outside space and seating. Service was fast. Card payments are accepted. It's very clean, including the toilets. I would definitely go again. My friends had non alcoholic drinks, which were a bit overpriced. Parking behind the building has a lot of space but is on a slope, so not really accessible for people with disabilities.”

“Always pop in when I’m in the area, staff are always polite and knowledgeable on the products. Great value and always really clean and tidy, a proper local pub!”

“Be prepared if you are walking dogs. Poo bins are in the car park so, you will need to carry those bags for a while.”

“I went today with a couple of friends and I can't praise it enough. The menu was extensive with lots of choice. Fabulous home cooked food at very reasonable prices with a lovely atmosphere and very tasteful decor. I would highly recommend, we loved it so much we have booked in for a Christmas meal...”
