βMy partner and I had an excellent stay at this hotel (end of July) The establishment has been refurbished, thanks to the efforts of the owner and staff, and the result is very harmonious and soothing. The bed is extremely comfortable The staff we met were very kind and attentive Special thanks to Romik, who made our stay unique!β
βCan't fault it, clean, tidy, reasonable rates, great location for the surrounding area and fabulous staff who go the extra mile. Only drawback for some might be noise on a Friday or Saturday night but the rooms are over a pub, so no one should be surprised. I would recommend the bar too by the way.β
βWe had a wonderful stay here at The Haymarket and Lairg Hotel. Friendly and informative staff. Our stay was out of season so it was lovely and peaceful which is what we wanted. There was a little hiccup with another guest but after a quick phone call to reception, the manager dealt with the issue quickly and personally and gave us the reassurance we needed. Breakfast was served quickly and fresh. Nice selection of cooked and continental items. Our en suit room was clean and tidy. It was equipped with essentials including an iron and a hairdryer and plenty of storage for our luggage. We also had a brochure detailing the many sights and attractions in and around Edinburgh in our room. We would 100% stay here again and may do so in the near future and bring our children with us. Thank you for a wonderful stay.β
βA lovely, cozy, quaint place to stay! The bar was lovely too! Only gripe: it's a bit misleading for them to say "free parking" when really, they have a couple spots in a narrow alley that are always full and very sketchy to get in, and if those spots are taken, get ready to pay Β£3.10 an hour on the streetβ
βAmazing staff/owners real sense of family could not do enough for you. Food great place looks really different from when last in. Really enjoyed my night here. Get along for Friday Steak night I'm definitely going back just for that! Drink prices really reasonable too. Thanksβ
βPerfect room. Amazing bed. Bathroom spotless. Staff helpful, friendly, and efficient. Breakfast very, very good. Evening meal menu ok, if you lije American-style food, such as brioche buns, sickly bbq sauces, and frozen veg. Fish and chips very nice, pizza is the best value. Don't have any warmed-up desserts, they're blasted in the microwave and either rock hard or the chocolate is burnt. Definitely stay here again, though, the beds are fantastic.β
βGreat experience with our stay! Preeti and Chelsea welcomed us at the reception for the check in with a great and positive attitude. For dinner we found great food at decent pricing and the service was really fast and food was delivered piping hot! At breakfast we had lots of options so there are options for all ages. All the staff and ambiance were great and welcoming, making us feel like we were customers since forever. I definitely recommend as the experience was a definition of hospitality and great service!β
βYou can never go wrong with a Premier Inn! Really enjoyed our stay here for a short get-away with our friends to Edinburgh for the Christmas Market. Rooms excellent as always with friendly, helpful staff. We didn't have food in the hotel restaurant, there's obviously lots of options nearby. Uber Eats / Just Eat have lots of delivery options to the hotel too. Slightly 'out of it' in terms of location, 20 minute walk from Edinburgh Waverley Railway Station and the city centre. Not really a problem though, as we never waited more than 10 minutes for a cab into the city.β
βHi Folks. Weβd just like to thank Ang, Donna, Natalie & fellow staff, for their terrific service during our two night stay. We had quite a deal to organise while packing for our trip back to Australia, after an extended time in the UK. They helped in many ways and weβd like to say how much we appreciated their positive attitude & solutions to several challenges, thanks again, hope the books, gumboots etc prove to be useful !! Thanks again. Scotty & Katy.β
βAbsolutely fine. I highly recommend not waiting at the "wait to be seated" sign at breakfast. The waitress loves customers who do this. Seldom one gets to see adults employed in the service industry exhibit such interesting behaviour. Worth the trip alone ! Hurry up and book your stay before she gets a job she actually likesβ
βOur family celebrated a 90th birthday today in the Library. We could not fault the service we received from the staff. The choices from the menu were all enjoyed and were attractively presented. We highly recommend this venue for a special occasion. Thankyou to allβ
βBrilliant experience staff were friendly and helpful. Rooms are really clean and tidy and modern. A few essentials are missing such has a kettle and hairdryer but that is a nitpick. The access to a gym is really handy as well if you want to start your day with a workout. The location is really good just a few minutes away From Princess Street.β
βI had a very pleasant stay at this hotel. The room was well maintained and comfortable, the location was convenient, and the staff were professional and attentive. Overall, the experience met my expectations, and I would be happy to stay here again.β
βA great stay. Rooms are a bit small, but completely functional. Otherwise, the hotel was very clean and nicely decorated. The hotel let us check in super early after arriving from a long day of travel, which was very appreciated. About a 10 minute walk from the tram, and an easy 1 mile walk to the centre of Edinburgh.β
βWe had a fantastic stay at the Holiday Inn Express Edinburgh City Centre! The location was incredibly central, which made it so easy to explore the city on foot. It felt safe and lively, with tons of restaurants, shops, and sights just steps away. Our room was spacious and comfortable, which was such a pleasant surprise for a city hotel. It gave our family plenty of space to relax after busy days out. The breakfast was excellentβplenty of options, both hot and cold, and everything was fresh and well-stocked. It was the perfect way to start our mornings. The staff were so friendly and helpful!! What really made our stay extra special was how the staff helped celebrate our daughterβs birthday. They surprised her with a sweet birthday treat, and it meant so much to herβand to us! Overall, we felt really well taken care of and would absolutely stay here again. Highly recommend for anyone looking for a convenient, comfortable, and family-friendly place to stay in Edinburgh!β
βLovely location for a hotel, just a 10 minutes walk from the castle and the royal mile. Very scenic buildings in the vicinity. Staff very polite and helpful, looked after the bags on the day of checking out so we could make the most out of our last day. Modern, clean room with good temperature control. A very good stay and perfect hotel for a couple.β
βWe stayed here for 3 nights during an event at the Royal Highland Centre. Location couldnβt have been more perfect as the entrance is a mere 3 steps away from the hotel car park. Getting here was easy off the main road as was parking. Just remember to pay for your parking in reception and not using the qr codes in the car park as youβll get it half price. Check-in was a breeze with all staff polite from the moment we arrived to the time we departed. Reception has a small shop area with drinks and snacks and a vending machine with all your holiday essentials that you likely forgot to pack. The airport terminal is only a 15min walk away too but constant shuttles work their way from the hotel if you arent up for a walk. The airport terminal has a tram stop which for Β£10 return takes you straight into the centre of Edinburgh. Our room was 34 on the ground floor. Great size and spotlessly clean. Great to see dove hand wash, body wash and shampoo along with the usual tea and coffee stuff, hairdryer, iron and ironing board. Only complaint is the mattress is well past its shelf life and all its spring has sprung. Very soft and we just kept rolling into the middle but beyond that the room was perfect. Free unlimited breakfast in the morning. Muffins, croissants, pancakes machine, cereals as well as the typical hot choices like sausages, bacon, eggs etc. Overall we were very happy with our stay and would definitely go back.β
βThis hotel was great! Comfy beds and breakfast included was greatly appreciated! Proximity to transit and groceries was also awesome! The staff was great!!! We got lucky and were on the side of the hotel that let us see Edinburgh Castle in the distance. The photo is with the 15x zoom on my phone. The front desk needs to control the AC in your room. The local thermostat really only seems to show you the temp in the room. The only other thing that we knew about but forgot until we checked in was that you have to pay for parking at the hotel. They do give you a voucher code for 50% off parking which helps but itβd be nice if it was included.β
βThis Residence Inn will forever be in our memory as a place run by dedicated and honest people. Maria runs this place with great leadership. One incident really stood out: We lost a pink water bottle of sentimental value (strongly suspecting it was in the hotel) and didnβt realize it until we were out of town. We contacted the hotel and explained to Maria the situation. She promptly looked into it, contacting the housekeeper immediately and got back to us right away. The housekeeper confirmed that she found it. We asked if the bottle could be shipped to us, and Maria was so helpful giving us all the information we needed to arrange for a shipping company to pick it up from the hotel, etc. We got it in the same great condition it was at when it was lost and couldnβt be happier. Mariaβs can-do energy is so refreshing and much appreciated. Maria, thank you for welcoming us when we arrived, for taking the time to explain the hotel details, and for taking immediate action to solve the problem we presented to you after we left. Also, please thank the housekeeper for her conscientiousness, for her honesty, and for her politeness to us when we interacted with her during our stay. We wish you all the best and hope to see you next time weβre in Edinburgh!β
βClean and tidy rooms with tea and coffee making facilities. The room was lacking some storage space apart from a tiny rack with a bit of space above for a few tops. Needs a cupboard or chest of drawers!! Staff friendly and very helpful and it's position in the centre made all of the tourist attractions easily to reach...β
βCairn was the perfect hotel for our stay! The room was a bit small but had a spacious bathroom and big bed, plus, how long do you really spend in the room anyway? All services worked and the location was a short walk to city center! Helen was a gracious staff member and really helped us out when we needed it. Thanks again!β
βI stayed here for 2 nights and had a great time in Edinburgh! the location was amazing - scenic 30min walk to the castle/Old Town area, or buses/trams/train right outside. the room was very clean and warm, on a beautiful street with lots of cafes nearby. the staff are also really welcoming and helpful. i'd love to stay here againβ
βVery handy location just off M8. Rooms are clean, food in restaurant for dinner and breakfast is great at good price. Very friendly staff. WiFi is terrible and staff donβt care, I assume they want you to buy the premium WiFi but in this day and age thereβs no excuse for poor WiFi. Small detail. Bring and extension cord, there is no power by the bed to plug your phone charger inβ
βI really enjoyed my stay here. The hotel is about 20 minutes walking from the center of town and is easy accessible from the street. The building is tidy and we'll maintained, both inside and out. The rooms are clean and fubctional. The car park is conveniently located at the back of the hotel and is accessible from both biuldings. The service is warm and welcoming.β
βCushy dwelling suited for the savvy traveller. Cheap, cosy rooms (Β£50 for a single Saturday night with breakfast). My room was in the basement and had a modern en suite shower. There was an endless dull noise from the stairs of a morning but that was my only complaint. Service is casual. I like casual. Casual is normal. I'd stay here again.β
βFor what you pay it's great value. Campus grounds are nice, Reception staff great. The bedroom is basic but the bed is very comfortable. The shared bathroom is clean but basic. Breakfast is fab. If you're on a budget or want something a little different I'd highly recommend it.β
βFrom the very beginning, we were warmly welcomed by the hotel owner β a very kind and friendly person. We had a pleasant conversation, which set a positive tone for our entire stay. The room was spotlessly clean, nicely decorated, and very cozy. We spent a lovely and relaxing time there. Later, we went for dinner and really enjoyed it β the food was delicious, and the staff in the restaurant were very friendly and attentive. In the morning, we had breakfast β a classic English breakfast served buffet-style, so we could help ourselves. Some hot dishes were brought to us by a kind lady, including tasty eggs, bacon, sausages, and other delicious items. Although we stayed only one night, we had a truly enjoyable experience. Five stars from us for the hospitality, cleanliness, comfort, and food. We definitely recommend this hotel to everyone!β
βThis has to be the most loviest hotel Iβve stayed at. It felt like home and I have a heavy heart leaving here tomorrow, I donβt want to go. The staff are absolutely amazing the food 10 out of 10 the chips are to die for! The bedβ¦ best sleep ever altho I was here for work it felt like I was on holiday and nothing was to much for the staff very kind helpful and chatty. Like I say I do not want to go but all good things have to come to an end. But bank on it I will be back FACT β¦ left a mark on my heart β€οΈβ
βI regularly go here for lunch or dinner with friends and family. There's nothing on the menu that I could criticise as I have enjoyed everything I have tried. The set menu has lots to choose from and is so reasonably priced. The staff are lovely and welcoming. Cant comment on the hotel itself as I haven't stayed. Thanks guys xβ
βI had read reviews before booking and was slightly concerned as there were a few negative reviews about staff and location . My experience was fantastic from the moment we arrived as we were recieved by a lovely welcoming receptionist who sorted the booking in an instant and was very sweet and informative. The room was clean and very comfortable and I felt the hotel had a warm atmosphere. My son and I chose to have a meal in the restaurant and were given great service by the bar and waiting staff.Food was really good and the Manageress was excellent running around and ensuring customers were happy and attended to there every need.Top marks to the staff and for the excellent service. I would recommend this hotel .As far as location and complaints about the distance from Edinburgh city centre these people obviously got on the no. 1 bus instead of the 26 which only take 15 /20 minutes to take you into the centre of Edinburgh. No complaints from me and would book again.β
