“Will is an exceptional personal trainer who’s transformed my fitness over the past year. His tailored sessions, like legs day, have boosted my strength and pushed my VO2 max to 46—a milestone I never thought possible! He’s patient yet challenging, adapting to my pace while keeping me motivated, even when life gets busy. His knowledge shines through in every workout, and he’s created a space where I feel empowered, not judged. Recently, his encouragement helped me power through a tough session despite mental lows, showing his real care. If you’re seeking a trainer who blends expertise with support, Will’s the one. 5 stars—highly recommend!”
“Great peaceful quiet stay cosy feeling throughout the hotel, very homely feeling great staff who made the stay even better. In particular want to say thank you to Jane who works at reception really nice lady spoke from the heart she is an ambassador for Ramada and she is the definition of customer service.”
“Great service as ever. Sarah H is always so professional and caring. I saw this at first hand with how wonderfully she dealt with a child with ASD in the restaurant, just wonderful. Other staff were great as well. Location is a little noisy but hey you can't have everything for the price!!.”
“Stunning hotel with beautiful preserved features, apparently it used to be a manor house and has been used for a hospital in wartime. You can feel the history when you walk through the door. Staff were welcoming when I arrived very late and everyone I encountered was friendly and helpful. The room was lovely with everything I needed, quality toiletries, a comfortable bed and powerful shower. Location was perfect for me, a short drive from the town centre. I was lucky enough to get free street parking right outside the hotel (6pm-8am, then you get an hour so can actually park until 9am). I would definitely stay again and hopefully for longer next time!”
“Absolutely gorgeous location. Hotel is beautiful, rooms cosy and very clean. Staff friendly and very helpful. Food was delicious. Highly recommend.”
“All in all we had a very pleasant weekend. We stayed from 29th Nov to 1st Dec. The lady who booked us in on Saturday afternoon was welcoming and informed us of times (and booked us in) for dinner in the beautiful glass walled dining room. The Sunday evening meal was much better than the Saturday (Turkey so dry I was served a spoonful of bits). On Sunday all was cooked well. Also I must mention the lady who waited on our table Becky. She was efficient and pleasant.”
“Beautiful hotel. Our room was plain, but had all we needed including a comfortable bed. Our evening meal was lovely and the young waiting staff did a great job. They were all efficient and also pleasant and friendly. The reception staff were also helpful and friendly. Breakfast had everything we could possibly have wanted. Not a single negative. We thoroughly enjoyed our stay.”
“A stayover for a murder mystery in Harrogate. It was a fabulous experience From arriving to leaving. Although a cashless hotel they have items for sale such as jewellery (gorgeous) gloves and handbags on display which were for sale with cash (glad I took cash as I bought some jewellery). The staff were lovely and helpful the food was delicious. The hotel was clean and well kept. I do have 1 small complaint there is a charge of £12 to park there which when booked was not advised of. However just so people are aware I did not see the information on the website (maybe I missed it). The murder mystery dinner was really excellent. Would recommend both the "murder mystery" and the hotel.”
“Fantastic 2 day stay. Hotel in beautiful grounds with plenty of parking. In a residential area within easy walk of town centre. Love an old hotel that has been modernised. Friendly helpful smartly dressed staff. Room was comfortable with all the facilities you require, including a fan. Clean and modern. We were on the back which was quiet. Breakfast had a good choice and was fresh. We had an evening meal, served in a lovely restaurant. Will definitely stay again. No complaints.”
“Trip to Leeds to take part in the Otley Run (of pubs!). The Ascot Grange is perfectly located at the start of the run and everything was spot on. Easy parking, clean and tidy room, Olla (hope thats spelt correctly) on the front desk was a very nice chap and had a great stay. Many thanks! Mike”
“The rooms here are so clean and the beds are amazingly comfortable. In this heat we were happy to see they had a fan in the room. Good shower, TV, everything you need. We asked to have a room away from everyone else because some hotels can be so noisy with people coming in and out their rooms. But here it was completely silent. The staff are also really nice making sure you have everything you need on check in, very accomodating and also making sure we enjoyed our stay when checking out. I think if you have a car it would be good for being a little out of the way of the city centre. There's not much around the hotel but there is a Toby carvery next door, a petrol station and an Asda within walking distance. All in all it was great and exactly what we needed.”
“I had a really pleasant stay here! The staff were very accommodating and took care of everything that I needed. Sometimes went out of their way to ensure we were comfortable. I would stay again!”
“Great place at great value so close to the city centre, which is only around 20 minutes on foot. Yes the furniture in the room was a little dated, and the wallpaper and paint could do with freshening up, but the rooms are clean and tidy and provide all the amenities with a spacious bedroom and en suite. Rooms are always warm, which was more than welcome from the biting cold outside. If I had to make any criticism it would be the mirror in the bathroom, as I am short, fat and hairy, I had to stand on my tiptoes to shave. But the hosts here are great, and always checking to make sure things are ok and that you have a plentiful supply of tea bags and coffee. They also provide off street parking to the rear of the Inn and while I didn’t sit the bar, it looked like a great place to unwind and they offer bar snacks should you get peckish.”
“Absolutely amazing hotel with the kindest and most helpful staff. I had an extraordinary situation and the staff have gone out of their way to help me. I am absolutely amazed by their kindness. The rooms are very clean and nice!”
“We have stayed in this hotel 3-4 times a year for 6 years and we love it. Great location, clean rooms, great staff, you have everything you need and the breakfast is amazing! I arranged this trip as a suprise for my husband for Christmas and posted some decorations to add to the festive magic! See you next time!”
“Superb, professional staff: my car ran into engine problems, so I parked it on the car park. The reception staff came out to offer assistance and cold drinks on sweltering 30C day. This was heaven sent with the air conditioned reception offering a welcome respite for my wife young daughter, nephew, and mum, while I waited for breakdown assistance. It's refreshingly pleasant to know first rate customer service is still out there. Thank you sincerely from myself and family.”
“Had a lovely 3 night stay here with my daughter. The hotel is clean and comfortable and the staff are genuinely friendly and take time to engage with their guests - we really felt welcomed. The buffet breakfast selection was good and items regularly replenished. The location is very central - it's an easy walk from the station, and public transport is good. Also lots of cafes, bars and eating places nearby. We took local buses to the Yorkshire Sculpture Park and to Sandal Castle, and hopped on Wakefield's free bus to get to and from the Hepworth Gallery. Would definitely stay here again.”
“Had a nice stay at this hotel ,the room was nice and the breakfast probably the best I've had at ihg hotel for many years Natalie was so professional and helpful at check in nothing was a problem to her such a credit to the hotel The manager on duty at the time Ash served with a smile on her face as did colleague April Will definitely stay here again”
“Can't fault this hotel, rooms lovely, clean and tidy, central location and right next to the train station (V quiet trains!). Hotel was recently bought after the pandemic (Like many out there) so no restaurant or bar - there is a Weatherspoons in walking distance so it's no issue at all Darren the owner is very accommodating and friendly, I will certainly stay again if I am in this town :-)”
“I like the rooms and reception. Good customer service. Affordable and make sense”
“Perfect stop over. Considering that it’s so near the motorway I was surprised how quiet it was in the room. Room was spacious. Well equipped. Very clean and comfortable The staff exceptionally helpful, polite and cheerful”
“Large comfortable rooms and really helpful staff. As they didn't have an evening chef, they gave us 24hrs warning and booked us into a lovely pub just a few minutes drive away. Breakfast was great though. Great location for breaking a long journey.”
“I had a great experience at my visit to the darrington on Thursday. All of the food was enjoyable and a special mention to the assistant manager Molly who who went above and beyond to make sure everything was perfect. She was extremely friendly and welcoming and provided an excellent service. We will definitely be returning.”
“Good location!!!Hotel in the heart of the city centre!!! Parking though was about 8-10 away from hotel ( market st)but quite reasonably priced considering the time spent and discounted ( 2 nights). Breakfast was very good with vegan sausages, scrambled eggs, beans etc etc. Room was adequate enough even though I ended up with a two single beds accommodation!!! Shower lovely and hot-great!!! Front desk and staff at the hotel very very welcoming especially manager( Denise) ,I think that was her name and male sidekick !!! All and all a good stay and will be returning again!!!! Thank you Travelodge Vicar Lane , Leeds - Great service!!!! Recommended _kg1production.”
“Really beautiful old hotel. Room was spacious, clean and bathroom well stocked. Staff were really friendly. We were a walkin and ended up staying an extra night. Location is great for the town and of course the paking was a real bonus because of prices of street parking in the other hotels. Highly recommend.”
“Beautiful hotel with a lot of history. Staff are friendly , approachable , well presented and charismatic with plenty of knowledge especially the bar and carters restaurant. Nothing was too much trouble and you can see this with presentation and professionalism. We Didn’t mind staying over despite a large wedding in the afternoon/ evening. After all it is an events Hotel. Great work from all the team and the food is sublime. Few photos to view- spa was stunning and much needed !! Helpful staff and loved to glimpse a sneak peak of the wedding arrangements.”
“For a hotel in its price range it's quite nice. A note for foreigners like myself, an "English breakfast" is a tea, not a continental breakfast which is my bad for misunderstanding. Really good if you want to got to the royal armoury museum!”
“I didn't stay at the hotel so I could t comment on any of the rooms. However I did have my wedding reception in the bar. Nathan was the bar staff and wow how great is he. Lots of conversation lovely and kind. Stuck to covid rules and guidelines but still made sure our evening was as wonderful as it could be. Was attentive and made sure we had everything needed. Allowed us to control what music we had and didn't complain at us once. The bar was lovely was decorated perfectly for us before hand. Let us take our own buffet and just made our evening the best experience. If you're just wanting a quiet casual drink or somewhere to go on a night out, are having a function and just want a nice drink I would highly recommend this place. Nathan is great and will do his best tk meet your needs honestly the best time I've had and not just because it was our wedding but because of wnathan and the George thank you so much!!”
