“This is an amazing place. Placed a in lovely location just outside York. The Glamping pod we had was very clean and tidy, nicely presented. All facilities were great, easily accessible. I only graded the service low, as we never saw any staff members on arrival, or departure, but I received lots of clear communication via email to direct us during our stay. We would definitely visit this place again.”

“Went for a meal with friends who live in the village on a Saturday night (29th November). What was on the menu sounded lovely and 3 of us ordered the Steak and Ale pie. Food arrived quickly thanks to Ben and his young assistant and was excellent, tasty, special mention to Marek the chef and good value for money. The hosts Ben and Keeley were great, witty and very friendly and who made our visit good fun. My husband and I entered as strangers and felt like we left as locals thanks to you. Hope to see you again next year.”

“We have had a delightful stay. A lovely independent hotel where every one tried their best to make sure we had everything we needed. The bedrooms were themed to plants. Ours was Papaya, and it was clean and very comfortable. A top class breakfast cooked to order. I can recommend the full English and Eggs Benedict. If we had stayed another day, I would have tried the salmon and scrambled eggs.”

“I recently stayed at The Inn at Cheltenham Parade in Harrogate and had such a wonderful experience. The hotel rooms were beautifully decorated, spotlessly clean, and surprisingly spacious plenty of room to relax and unwind after exploring the town. The highlight, though, was the food. The restaurant serves absolutely delicious dishes, beautifully presented and full of flavour. Each meal felt special, whether it was breakfast, dinner, or a little something in between. The staff were warm, welcoming, and attentive, which made the whole stay feel extra inviting. If you’re looking for somewhere in Harrogate that combines comfort, style, and fantastic food, I couldn’t recommend The Inn at Cheltenham Parade more highly.”

“Fab food and beer. Staff were all friendly and attentive. Offering great service and value for money. I did not put a rating on the rooms as we did not stay there but I would imagine they were of as high a standard as the rest of the pub. We will definitely visit again 10/10.”

“We had an amazing stay at Catgill Glamping Pods! From the moment we arrived, everything was clearly signed and beautifully presented, with a modern, welcoming reception. The pods are perfectly placed on a hillside overlooking the stunning Bolton Abbey village – the views are incredible. The pods themselves were spotless, stylish, and fully equipped with everything we needed. The hot tub was a real highlight – preheated and ready to go, with logs provided. We booked the over-50s deal and were pleasantly surprised with a free bottle of bubbly and a warm breakfast (fresh pain au chocolat and coffee) delivered right to our pod in the morning – such a lovely touch! The location is ideal for walks into Bolton Abbey and there are great cafes nearby. We highly recommend Catgill and will definitely be returning”

“We have stayed here for 2 nights and thoroughly enjoyed the location, being in the town centre and the advantage of their own off street car park. We were looked after well at check-in by Wayne. He was working again at our 1st breakfast, and he shared the pubs' best ghost stories when we asked. Drea was working on our 2nd breakfast service and made time to chat with us at checkout. She is running a superb pub with rooms and we won't hesitate to stay there again next time we visit Skipton.”

“I had a great stay at this modern and stylish hotel. My double room was well equipped with a Nespresso machine (with four pods), plenty of coffee sachets, and a good selection of teas. The bed and pillows were extremely comfortable, and I loved the clever touch of the TV hidden behind a sliding piece of artwork. The large windows let in loads of natural light, and the room controls made it easy to adjust the temperature and fan settings. The shower was another highlight — a spacious, low-level shower enclosure with both a rainfall and handheld shower. Water pressure and temperature were excellent. The separate sink and worktop merged just to the side of the bed area was a nice feature. Breakfast was stacked full of self serve continental options as well as orderabke cooked options including a full English, priced at £25 for adults, but it was included with my stay, which made it great value — and it was absolutely delicious. All the staff were friendly and very helpful throughout my stay. The hotel overall is clean, bright, and modern, with a welcoming bar area that’s perfect for relaxing. A great stay”

“Wonderful, friendly staff and a lovely, quirky environment. We stayed in one of their family rooms which was perfect for our needs. You could be forgiven for thinking things might be a bit basic, but actually we were better catered for than many hotels I've stayed at, with plenty of toiletries provided and surprisingly comfy beds - far more comfortable than certain 'budget' chain hotels. Definitely recommend.”

“Tucked away in a charming little village just off the main road, The Pickled Pheasant is a quintessentially British eatery that offers not only a warm welcome but also a truly memorable experience. The journey there was half the joy – winding over a scenic hill reminiscent of classic England WRC rally routes, with breathtaking views that set the tone perfectly. Upon arrival, we found a convenient and tidy car park just across the road. The building itself is wonderfully traditional, brimming with character and charm. Inside, the atmosphere was relaxed and inviting, with a distinctly English feel that made us feel right at home. Service was absolutely top-notch – friendly, attentive, and genuinely warm. Every member of staff was polite and accommodating, making our group of eight feel very well looked after. It’s also worth noting that the venue appeared to be pet-friendly, with several locals enjoying their meals alongside their furry companions. We arrived in time for breakfast, which is served until noon – a lovely touch for those who enjoy a leisurely start to the day. We all opted for the classic Full English breakfast with sunny side up eggs, and it did not disappoint. The food arrived promptly, was piping hot, and every element of the dish was cooked to perfection. From the sausages to the mushrooms, everything was flavourful and satisfying. In short, The Pickled Pheasant is a delightful find – a place that combines traditional British hospitality with quality food and a picturesque setting. Highly recommended, 100%.”

“I had the most incredible experience at Hazelwood Castle Hotel and Spa — everything was simply amazing! From the moment I arrived, the team made me feel so welcome and cared for. Emma’s communication throughout was excellent, keeping everything smooth and stress-free. Steve and Amanda were incredibly approachable and friendly, always ready with a smile and helpful advice. Max truly stole the show — his professionalism, understanding, and ability to accommodate every need was outstanding. He went above and beyond to make sure my stay was perfect, and most importantly, he made my proposal come to life in the most magical way. I couldn’t have asked for a better setting or support for such a special moment. A huge thank you to Max and the rest of the wonderful team at Hazelwood Castle. You made my visit unforgettable, and I can’t wait to return!”

“I stayed here for 5 nights. I thoroughly enjoyed it. The room was small, but comfortable and clean. It was more than adequate for my needs. The staff at the motel were really kind and polite. Food at the Motel was not the best I've had, but it was tasty, filling and fairly priced. There is a bar which is nice to use on the hot summer days. Jane, Alex and all the other girls made my stay.....they are all winners.”

“Attended the Ringtons Tea retirees’ Christmas bash at the Novotel in York and it was exceptional from beginning to end. The hotel itself is in a cracking location just a short walk from the river and the city centre, and it has that modern, clean, relaxed feel that makes you settle in straight away. The event was handled brilliantly. The staff were outstanding – friendly, organised, and genuinely attentive without ever feeling intrusive. Nothing was too much trouble for them, and they kept everything running smoothly all evening, which really helped set the tone. The food was superb. Every course was well presented, piping hot and full of flavour. Christmas meals at large gatherings can be hit-and-miss, but this was one of the best I’ve had at a group event. Plates were cleared promptly, drinks topped up efficiently, and the timing between courses was spot on. The atmosphere was fantastic too – warm, festive and full of energy. The room was set up beautifully, plenty of space, great lighting, and everything felt well thought through. It made the whole celebration feel special, and it was lovely to see so many familiar faces from Ringtons enjoying themselves. Overall, Novotel York delivered an excellent evening: great service, brilliant food, a lovely festive setting, and staff who genuinely helped make the night memorable. Couldn’t have asked for more. Highly recommended.”

“This is our own experience with this business, and we know different clients will have different experiences — but we always leave reviews based on the service we received when we ordered or visited. Review for: Moxy York – Black Horse Lane, York First Impressions Moxy York immediately stood out with its fun, urban, and modern vibe. The downstairs area is full of character, decorated with eye-catching urban art, hanging pod chairs, plenty of selfie spots, and even a photobooth complete with dress-up hats and caps. The luggage carts by the entrance were incredibly helpful when we arrived with multiple suitcases. The overall first impression was stylish, energetic, and welcoming. Cleanliness & Safety Concerns The hotel was clean throughout — from the reception area to the lifts and guest rooms. The lifts are secure and won’t operate until you scan your room key, which we appreciated as an added safety feature. CCTV inside the lifts added an extra layer of reassurance. The bathrooms, both in the public areas and our room, were spotless, and the baby-changing facilities downstairs were spacious with a wide sliding door that easily accommodates a pram. Food Quality Breakfast was excellent, with plenty of hot and cold options, good coffee, cereals, pastries, fresh fruit, and a variety of juices. Gluten-free options were clearly available, and we loved the sign that mentioned vegetarian sausages cooked to order—just ask a staff member. Everything was well stocked and fresh. The bar also served well-priced soft drinks, and we appreciated the free pints of cold ice water when requested. Ambience & Surroundings The ambience at Moxy York is playful and modern, with thoughtful design details such as bright pink filler used deliberately to highlight cracks in the concrete floor—turning something ordinary into part of the décor. There’s a beer garden, a pool table, books, board games, magazines like Empire, and even a free retro Street Fighter arcade machine. Everywhere you look, there’s something creative or fun. The hotel feels lively yet relaxing, perfect for groups, couples, families, and students alike. Service & Atmosphere Every member of staff we interacted with was polite, friendly, and eager to help. The front-desk team created such a welcoming environment. We loved the gesture of a free cocktail or mocktail each on arrival. They even had special offers like a 20% student discount and a free mimosa for graduates on the day we visited. Dog owners will appreciate the custom stand at reception with water bowls for both large and small dogs. Small touches like free cucumber water at the bar and umbrellas available to rent added to the sense that Moxy pays attention to guest comfort. Facilities The hotel offers lots of thoughtful amenities: A well-equipped workout room directly opposite the lifts Fast, clean lifts with fun selfie-style Instagram templates inside Monthly event notices and clear signposting throughout the hotel A first-floor ironing room accessible with your room key Modern, comfortable guest rooms with sensor lights under the bed (perfect for late-night bathroom trips), air conditioning, USB ports, a European plug socket, a wing-backed chair, a kettle with tea/coffee and Biscoff biscuits, and secure locking feature. Bathroom amenities including shampoo, conditioner, hand wash, and body wash The room was quiet with no banging or noise from other floors, leading to a very peaceful night’s sleep — something not all hotels manage successfully. Although there is no on-site car park, there is a Q-Park nearby and several other parking options within walking distance via parking apps. Signing up for Marriott Bonvoy is worthwhile too, as it makes Wi-Fi sign-in quicker and lets you collect points. Overall We wouldn’t hesitate to recommend this hotel and look forward to staying at The Moxy in York again on our next visit. I hope this honest review helps others make an informed decision.”

“We only visited for a meal (Sunday lunch) using a cheap Groupon voucher, but left with a really good impression of the place - so much so we decided we'd be happy to return and pay for a meal at full price. If we had to suggest / say anything about the food, the roast potatoes would be even better with caramelised bits from meat juices, but they were perfectly good just as they were, lovely and crisp.”

“Stayed here for 2 nights during a friend's wedding and it was amazing. Such a great accommodation for larger groups with lots of beds available across 5 bedrooms and a very spacious social area with Pool table and a comfy TV area with plenty of Dvds and a TV with YouTube and Netflix on. ( There is WiFi) There was a really well stocked kitchen with all the plates, cutely and cooking things you'd need for a large group. The place was really clean and tidy, all the beds were made up and the bathrooms were great. All stagg/owners that we spoke to were lovely and we would highly recommend booking a stay here if you are a large group.”
