“Made for having Fun....useful in summer”
“I'm not sure if fishing is allowed as there is no information on the site, I don't fish but I did see people fishing there.”
“Great for short walks, often full of friendly locals walking dogs (including myself sometimes), beautiful to visit in spring and summer with a plethora of wild fruit and herbs if you dare to forage, including but not limited to apples, blackberries, sloes, wild chives and garlic.”
“They provide a nice hardcourt (just a normal wooden basketball or volleyball clue) suitable for indoor frisbee with good air conditioning and heating especially in the winter. The artificial grass and natural grass pitches are well maintained! To finish it off staff are friendly and helpful.”
“A lovely park not too far from beckenham High Street. We went to see the restored bandstand (Bowies bandstand!). It is an incredible restoration job, and it is so nice to see the paving around includes bricks in memory of someone or just for loved ones. This park is also the place where the first airmail service started - 1902 I think! As others say, it would be good to have better toilet facilities, and a coffee kiosk would be good.”
“Relaxing park with a beautiful river next to it. Free gym, outdoor basketball, skatepark and children play area with a historical backdrop of New Tavern Fort to celebrate military excellence. Great spot for walks, meditation, workout, picnics and hangouts”
“Great swimming pool, friendly and helpful staff, welcoming, fantastic facilities. My son and I really enjoyed swimming there and definitely will visit again.”
“My children just finished their half term crash course, with Nathan as a teacher, and it was excellent! I had doubts about the length of the pool for my daughter as she is already a great swimmer but it was absolutely fine and she perfected some aspects of her swimming. Nathan was very engaging and the kids thoroughly enjoyed the week! Thank you.”
“Ray is a brilliant coach, took me from complete beginner to confident swimmer in 8months.”
“They have skilled, trained and patient swim coaches welcoming to all levels of ability. There is a sports hall next to the reception which you can hire for parties. There is an air conditioned gym as well. The changing rooms are renovated and clean.”
“Having heard so much about the wonderful Sunday lunches at the Rose Inn, we decided to try for ourselves and we were certainly not disappointed! The quality was outstanding but be sure that you are very hungry as the portions are huge! We tried each of the meats (except chicken) and they were all scrumptious. The meat was teamed with beautifully cooked fresh vegetables (4 types!!), roast potatoes, a wonderful mash, stuffing, yorkshire puds & yummy gravy. The combination of the amazing food and the very friendly service with a smile made our Sunday afternoon. Thank you and see you again soon!”
“Very beautiful park also historic land”
“Weather is a crucial factor, but this piece of green is just so peaceful with friendly neighbours. Kids are enjoying the playground, wonderful place to walk a dog, and there’s a outdoor gym as well”
“It is a very small park, with a children's playground. It has a large green area and a dedicated basketball square. The flowers around the borders are attractive and seasonal. There are a few varieties of trees too. Good for bark rubbing and trying to spot variants. There are some dedicated benches scattered around the park and a flat area for cycling and walking that does a circuit of the green grass. Handy for Ruislip Manor tube station and the local buses.”
“Been a Gym member here for years. It's very small, but perfect if you want to use good equipment mostly on your own. The staff are all very friendly and on hand if needed. Added Bonus is the Barn for lovely coffee and the girls are great.”
“Such a cute place to go and feed the ducks. It's one of the few ponds around that still have ducks in it and not just seagulls!”
“It was a good place to meet other dog walkers , lots of dog owners, not so much since 2023 ,now yr lucky to meet one or two”
“Fantastic swim school! We have been with swim plus for a year and our daughter has progressed tremendously and learnt to swim independently within few months. Tarkan has been an exceptional instructor. Such personal service from all the team at Swimplus- Kerry and Mark also great and friendly to deal with. Thank you swimplus team!”
“Fantastic teachers both my children attend swimming lessons here and are both progressing very well and enjoy their sessions.”
“This is my go to park, it doesn't have anything for kids but small, steep slide, a walking tightrope for older kids, and a tree house with small ball area but it has a lovely field area for adults to sit and next to various shops in holloway, my child doesn't like noisy or packed parks so it suits him fine.”
“Nice, clean pool and free parking!”
“Free parking. Polite staff and good teaching swimming instructors. My kids loves swimming here @ First Strokes Billericay.”
“This is a small but very peaceful little park area close to the centre of Chesham; about a five minute walk at a gentle pace. It has a pleasant stream running through the middle and benches where you can sit, contemplate nature or just watch the world go by. You can follow the street out of the park area too another and from there into the old part of town near to St Mary’s Church.”
“Beautiful dog walks and great facilities on the lake for the kids. The new cafè at AquaSports is a fantastic addition”
“The Maqam Centre is a fantastic hub for wellness, learning, and community. The swimming facilities are spotless and well-organized, and the swimming lessons are exceptional—professional, patient instructors who build confidence in both kids and adults. The yoga and Pilates classes are outstanding. Each session is led by experienced, attentive instructors who create an inclusive and calming environment for all levels. Whether you're a beginner or more advanced, you’ll leave every class feeling balanced, stretched, and restored. This isn’t just a centre—it’s a sanctuary for body, mind, and spirit. Highly recommended!”
“Beautiful spot for swimming on Hampstead Heath. £4.70 for adults but it’s a unique place to swim so can’t complain too much. Basic areas for changing, two showers and toilets. Not much space for sitting but then this is really about swimming. Surrounded by big trees at the swimming end but people can see you from the bridge at the far end. So you can feel smug and wave. Mixed pool so no nudity. Plenty of space to swim or just chill on a buoy.”
“Our son started swimming lessons at Poolside Manor just over a year ago. He was 3 and a half and had only been in a swimming pool on holiday, splashing around the baby pool or holding us tight in the big pool. When he started I wasn’t sure he would get in to the swimming pool without a parent with him, but the staff were so lovely to him, giving him the confidence to just walk off and he went straight into the pool without us, while we watched from the parents area. His swimming teacher is Francesca and she is absolutely amazing, we can’t thank her enough. She has pushed him (within his ability) and he can actually swim and is doing far better than I ever imagined one year on. Francesca is encouraging and patient and explains everything to the children in a way that makes his lesson engaging and fun. At the end of each term they have a fun swim session with pool toys and floats which he absolutely loves. The whole team, especially Vicky are wonderful and so lovely to the children. We couldn’t be happier with our son’s progress and that’s mainly down to Francesca. Even the reception team are great, Sharon is wonderful and so accommodating when we had to change swim days. They are all so helpful and the clean changing rooms and spacious car park also help to make for a lovely swim session experience. Thank you Poolside Manor, it’s an amazing swim school and has enabled our son to accomplish an excellent life skill.”
