    Crewe Arms Hotel

    ★★★☆☆ 3.7
    Open

“Lovely staff, lovely rooms, not super modern, but have everything. Stairs are a bit dated, but it totally suits the building, superbly clean. We would definitely stay here again, especially for the price. Ample car free parking. If you're a train enthusiast, this is a must! It's opposite the train station. We visited Stoke on Trent and Nantwich, and both 20 minutes drive away. There were many more places about it, but we only stayed 2 days. Near Tesco express, macdonalds and loads of food delivery places.”

    Palace Hotel Buxton

    ★★★☆☆ 3.4
    Open

“Brilliant location. Right in the centre of Buxton which is a short walk to get too. The hotel is on a hill and may be too steep for those with mobility issues. There is plenty of parking which cost £5 for 24hr. The hotel is very large but very clean. We didn't see dust, marks ect. Check in was friendly and easy. The staff are so warm and welcoming. The lobby is very large and grand and plenty of seating. The building is very old, however the decor and furniture is not. The price of a night stay with half board was excellent. Couldn't fault the hotel. The location is excellent. Just note the hotel is on hill.”

    George Hotel, Burslem, Stoke-on-Trent

    ★★☆☆☆ 2.6
    Open

“Stayed here last weekend in a family room. 2 adults 2 children. Had booked another hotel up the road that turned out to be a nightmare. Arrived at the hotel, plenty of room to park, yes it is on street but lots of space. Door was closed when we arrived didn't find this a problem, lady who was working reception answered really quickly and welcomed us in. Check in was smooth and easy. The receptionist was amazing, made us feel at home. (Wish I knew her name but she has red hair) hotel felt really secure, door closed most of the time to stop just anyone walking in off the street. The stair way upto room was very clean, there is a patch of damage to the decor on the way up but really not a problem and probably to be expected in a building of such age. Landing corridor to room all really beautiful with some lots of character, (chandelier, balcony) room was really nice, so clean so big for a family of 4. No issue in room with any facilities or cleanliness. Staff happy to help and really couldn't be nicer. Location is brilliant too, nice restaurant across the road, local shops near by and water park and money forest just a few mins away. Overall had a really nice time staying here and would definitely stay again. Thank you”

“Had a great stay here. Room was very spacious indeed. Great value for money. No tea or coffee in room, not an issue as they had it availible free downstairs. Also no food served here but lots of places near by that do. My shower did not work but the friendly guy at reception fixed this within 10 minutes by changing the shower head.”

    Greensnips Farm Bed & Breakfast

    ★★★★★ 5
    Closed

“Short version: Fantastic B&B to which we'd happily return. Our hosts were exceptionally welcoming and personable and were very happy to help us out wherever they could; in my case, using the warm, dry, shed to replace a tubless bicycle tyre which had given up on the idea of retaining air inside it. The room was great and everything felt 'just so'. It's unashamedly at the more premium feeling end of the market and worth every penny of our stay there. Special mention must be made of the breakfasts which were spectacular. The continental breakfast was vast and included fruit juice, cereal, croissants, fresh fruit and toast. There is also the (additional charge) option of a Full English which is fabulous, although it may mean you don't eat very much until rather later in the day...there isn't a huge amount of plate showing between the food. Bonus points must also be awarded to the choice of putting peppercorns on the mushrooms. Pro tip 1: if you're after a cooked breakfast (and I'd urge you to at least try it once), it's a good idea to let someone know the night before so they can be prepared. Pro tip 2: Steve and Andy's local knowledge is excellent, both in terms of the eateries, but also the small roads to avoid so I'd recommend taking advantage. I did a Google check on one of them and it'd be ... interesting ... to take a car down there, especially as you're highly likely to meet a tractor coming the other way.”

    Wheeldon Trees Cottages

    ★★★★★ 5

“We had a wonderful experience at Wheeldon Trees Cottages. We stayed for 2 nights at Elliott Cottage. It was a good size for 4 people - the living area, bathroom, and kitchen was spacious but the rooms were a little tight. We received a lovely welcome basket and the owners had fantastic attention to detail, leaving headtorches for night walks, maps of nearby walking trails, and an honesty shop stocked with essentials. I would highly recommend staying here if you want a quiet getaway with lovely scenery but I would be careful on the drive up as being so remote, the roads are a little tricky to navigate.”

    Ashleigh Buxton

“I recently had the pleasure of staying at the newly restored Ashleigh Buxton in Buxton, and I must say, it was a truly delightful experience. The self-catering hotel is set in a charming building in the heart of the historic town, and the attention to detail in the renovation is apparent from the moment you walk through the door. The interior décor is a wonderful blend of modern amenities and traditional charm, with elegant furnishings and stylish accents throughout. The self-catering apartments are spacious, well-equipped, and beautifully decorated, providing a comfortable and inviting atmosphere for guests. The staff at Ashleigh Buxton were friendly and accommodating, and went above and beyond to ensure that our stay was enjoyable. From the moment we arrived, we were greeted with warm hospitality and excellent service. The location of Ashleigh Buxton is also a major selling point. Situated in the heart of Buxton, the hotel is just a short walk from the town's shops, restaurants, and attractions, making it the perfect base for exploring everything that the area has to offer. Overall, I would highly recommend Ashleigh Buxton to anyone looking for a beautifully restored self-catering hotel in Buxton. “We used an EHUP hard standing pitch. You don’t need to ask for a quiet location as the whole site was beautifully quiet, relaxed and had families staying too. The facilities were certainly 5 star, the extras such as pizza and ice cream were a good value welcome treat! The showers and toilets were spotless - we would love to return. Rose and Philip were exceptional hosts, friendly yet not hovering over you!”

Crewe and Harpur | Longnor | Peak District

“Fabulous family weekend spent in the converted pub. Our second visit. Its been revamped since we last stayed. Downstairs was great, Really well stocked kitchen. Comfy lounge, great bar area. Fantastic family area. Bedrooms, lack a little luxury. No full length mirror. No hooks for towels anywhere. Bathrooms tiny and unpleasant drain smell due to saniflow I suspect. However perfectly usable and great power shower if not compact in size! Loads of cobwebs and spiders in our room so the corners and windows in room and bathroom had definitely been missed. Bed super comfy and bedlinen lovely. There was only one side table by the bed even though room for two and our TV wouldn't work. We spent limited time in the room so it didn't matter. We would 100% return again.”

“We stayed at the Lamb Guest Inn as part of a wedding party. It was my husband, one year old daughter, and I. The hosts were more than genuine and accommodating. They went out of their way to make sure we not only had everything us adults needed, but our daughter as well. They provided a pack n’ play for her to sleep in, a high chair at breakfast, and even provided special lacto free milk for her. Everything was clean and immaculate. The breakfast was homemade to order. Some of the best food we had during our whole stay in London. The location is an easy, safe walk to all the downtown bars, restaurants, supermarket, etc. It honestly felt like we were at my grandparents house the way they took care of us. I would definitely highly recommend and look forward to hopefully staying here again.”
