“Went there 1st time it was first class food excellent staff very welcoming. Looking forward for another visit soon. You won't be disappointed.”
“I dine out a lot when away with work and this is one of the best meals I’ve had. An unassuming little gastropub / restaurant which is tastefully decorated and offers a superbly warm and friendly welcome and seriously delicious food. Can whole heartedly recommend the delicate cauliflower Pakora starter with equally delicious dips elegantly placed on the plate. The Bay Tree Rossini (fillet steak on a pate croute with rich mushroom sauce), was amazing. For £26 I was expecting it to be good but this - for a little eatery in an off-the-beaten-track Midlands village - was superb. The service was genuine but unobtrusive and even the chef came out to see if the dinner was enjoyable. Highly recommended.”
“Food alone doesn't make a restaurant; the welcome and service goes a long way too. Hilal and the team at the Ameena were charming. Advising us on veggie options and taking seriously our nut allergy dining options. The paneer was sublime in our balti and the stuffed pepper and onion bhaji starters were delicious. Our new local - where we were welcomed like old friends.”
“Food was delicious Service was great Atmosphere was lovely”
“Second time eating here in the past month and both times the food has been amazing. Staff are polite and helpful and the venue has been tastefully refurbished. Our new favourite place to eat. Tha you all.”
“What an amazing place! The staff are lovely and the atmosphere is so peaceful. The food was delicious which we enjoyed thoroughly.Cooked and served beautifully, with many options on the menu there’s something for everyone. Great portion sizes; they even have a little dress up area of kimonos.”
“Had a lovely Christmas Day lunch. Everyone enjoyed their meal, it was very well organised and staff were extremely attentive even though they were clearly busy. We arrived as they opened at 12.30, were served drinks upon arrival. Service was swift but not rushed, we were on a reasonably tight schedule anyway due to having to be away by 2.30.”
“I don't bother to review unless the experience is extremely unsatisfactory or highly pleasing. Happy to say this fell into the latter. Been craving for some burger, decided to go on a Thursday night to find the place totally empty. Still sceptical, was looking at the menu, when a friendly chap greeted us. There are good options for non-veg(beef/chicken) and veg burgers and wraps. We decided on a avo-chicken and a farm house veg burger for my partner. With little expectations we waited for our food, but pleasantly surprised when it arrived in huge portions. The chicken was perfectly grilled with good flavours of parsley and herbs which I enjoyed, seemed to be a Turkish/mid eastern take on chicken patty. The veg burger was also delectable with fried cheese. The chips were super crispy and batter fried with proper seasonings. While waiting, there were quite a few takeaways, so wasn't that empy after all. In all we had a very satisfied meal, very much recommended.”
“Nothing too much trouble for the staff. Food very good ,service prompt.”
“After trying many different Indian restaurants in the area this for me is by far the best. The food is always fresh and piping hot and it all tastes amazing. And you get a nice little discount if you collect”
“I ordered oxtail with rice and veggies from this Jamaican/Caribbean takeaway, and honestly, it hit the spot. The oxtail was the star of the plate — juicy, rich, and full of flavour. I couldn’t help myself! Big shoutout to Mel, because I’m sure she was the one behind the pot. She really did her thing with the cooking. After a long and tiring day at work, that food brought me back to life. It lifted my mood, gave me energy, and turned my Sunday into a proper good one. I genuinely appreciate the beautiful food they make here. Definitely worth it.”
“Wow! What a gem on the Hagley Road! My partner and I had a late breakfast here on a Saturday, and what a joy it was. My partner ordered the Saganaki omelette and I ordered the Feta omelette. We also got two black americanos. The food arrived quickly, and was sublime. Both omelettes came with a lime wedge, a pickled pepper, raw onion, fresh mint, fresh basil and fresh flat leaf parsley. I greatly appreciated the herbs as I love them all, and I personally seasoned my omelette liberally with them. The omelettes also came with sesame flatbread, which we used to mop our plates clean! The coffees were great as well, with my only very minor note being that it would have been nice to have them in a glass with a handle, as they were too hot to handle for about 10 minutes. There is a single loo, which is accessible and well-maintained. Bonus points for a lovely sink basin. I'm including photos of the menu, which we were told has been recently updated. I think the prices are very reasonable for such good quality food. The cafe is decorated very nicely, and my only note about the general ambience was that the music was a very slight bit too loud for my taste. The staff were friendly and helpful, and created a friendly atmosphere. We will be back soon for a lunch and / or dinner - thank you Cafe Rumi!”
“Great customer service, I don't go in that often but they always remember I don't like vinegar! Great value for money and portion sizes, and their chips aren't as oily and are so much better than other chip places around. Their balti and chips is amazing. Packaging is a box and is so much better than paper, even if you just buy chips. 5/5”
“First time we had ordered from here, had the set meal for 2.The for was amazing, fed 2 of us for 2 days. Can't wait to study the menu for our next order.”
“Nice tea rooms in old manor with new additions. Good range if breakfast food served until 11:30am Lunch menu varied with many baked potato dishes. Prices are very teasingly and staff are very friendly. Small tea garden if weather is good:) Nice place to come anytime they are open!”
“Lovely meal out for a birthday celebration. Excellent food, great service, (attentive but not pushy)....nothing too much trouble. They made a big fuss of our dog too. We've been several times previously and the food and service are consistently excellent. ......which seems to be quite unusual these days! Thank you.”
“What can I say, the food was absolutely delicious, and we are fussy, for instance I hate sweet and sour sauce that has tomato sauce in it, this one was perfect, no tomato sauce in sight. All cooked fresh and very quick service. The staff were amazing, very attentive and friendly. Definitely be going back....10 out of 10!”
“First time coming here tonight and what an experience. The staff was so welcoming and lovely. Was seated and asked for drinks and recommendations were made. I asked for suggestions for food as there was so much choice I was struggling to pick and the waitress Mariam was so helpful and friendly. The food arrived and what can I say wow. The food was so tasty and full of flavours. They checked back on food and asked for desserts. They accommodated my dessert to a cold brownie with extra strawberries. The best dessert I’ve had anywhere. Thank you to all the team for making my dad’s Father’s Day meal so lovely. Thank you mariam.”
“My favourite breakfast spot in Bham. It has a really nice decor. I always come back for the saffron tea because I just can’t find it anywhere! We had the breakfast meze and it was such a feast! We chose the baba ghanoush, Shakshouka, damascena fuul and falafels. Had a party in my mouth dipping flatbreads in the different dips. The falafels were beautifully crunchy on the outside and soft on the inside. And it’s also not heavy on the pocket.”
“Absolutely fantastic experience from start to finish! This is without doubt the best Kurdish food in Birmingham. I’ve eaten in so many restaurants over the years, but this place truly stands out. The flavours were incredible and everything tasted so fresh and authentic. We started with the sale soup, which was rich, comforting and full of depth — a perfect way to begin the meal. The mixed grill that followed was just on another level: beautifully seasoned, tender, and cooked to perfection. Every bite showed real quality and care in the cooking. The atmosphere was warm and welcoming, the staff were friendly and attentive, and the service was quick without feeling rushed. You can tell they really take pride in what they do. Overall, it was a 10/10 experience. I highly recommend this restaurant to anyone who loves great food. I’ll definitely be coming back — this is now one of my favourite spots in Birmingham!”
“A Hidden Gem in Birmingham - The Palace Hotpot I recently had the pleasure of dining at The Palace Hotpot in Birmingham, and it was an experience worth sharing. From the moment we stepped in, we were welcomed with warm, friendly service that set the tone for the entire meal. The staff were attentive without being overbearing, always ready to explain the menu and offer recommendations, which made our experience even better. Now, let's talk about the food—simply outstanding. The variety of fresh ingredients available for the hotpot was impressive, with a wide selection of meats, vegetables, and premium broths to choose from. The ingredients were top-quality, and you could really taste the freshness in every bite. The broths had rich, complex flavors that were perfect for dipping and cooking the ingredients. Whether you prefer a spicy kick or something milder, there’s a broth for every taste. What really stood out was the pricing—affordable without compromising on quality. It’s not easy to find such a great balance of value and taste in Birmingham, but The Palace Hotpot nails it. Overall, I’d highly recommend The Palace Hotpot to anyone looking for a fun, delicious dining experience in Birmingham. The combination of great service, amazing food, and reasonable prices makes it a standout choice. Can’t wait to return!”
“Had a great dinner at Takumi recently and definitely coming back. The sea urchin was a standout, fresh and buttery. Sakai had the ramen, the soup was thick and rich. service was super friendly and efficient. Overall, just a really solid spot with great food! It was also very affordable for what you got!!”
“Visited this restaurant and thought it serves pretty authentic Korean food. They have set lunches at very reasonable prices and set bento boxes that are decent prices too. The food was great and great value for money. Alà carte fried dumplings was great. Will definitely visit and try other dishes. Only down side was the tea was really weak, tasted more like hot water with a hint of tea. You can count the number of pieces of tea leaves in each cup. Accepts card or cash. NHS discount on alà carte items. Great friendly staff despite busy lunch crowd.”
“Absolutely fantastic food and service. Roti and chappatis were steaming hot & fresh. With perfectly cooked rice and Baltic.”
“I placed a telephone order to take away. The customer service was outstanding and the staff were very friendly and polite. The service was very professional. The food was delicious and very reasonably priced. We will definitely be ordering again. Thank you very much. Husna”
“I went to Mughal e Azam for brunch and it was amazing. The place is really clean with a nice aesthetic and the staff were so polite and friendly. The lady at front of house was warm and welcoming which set a good vibe straight away. Our waiter Bilaal was really great too, really professional and friendly, he took our order with ease and made sure everything was perfect throughout. The food tasted fresh, full of flavour and was presented really well. Overall it was a 10/10 experience and I’d definitely recommend it.”
“Very scrumptious food. The texture and taste was excellent. Very polite staff. I recommend this place 5 star. Love the aesthetic environment.”
“Lovely sizzling sheesh kebab starter, lamb madras main, succulent. Keema naan and keema rice very tasty. Lovely round tables. Very attentive staff. Will be going back”
“Best restaurant experience I’ve had in Birmingham. Warm welcome into restaurant, helpful recommendations of food. The tea is beautiful, we ended up ordering two pots. Starters all so full of flavour, food came quickly. Mains really generous portions and meat cooked so well! You can see the team making all the food fresh. Service so friendly. And they made me feel so comfortable bringing my newborn in, even held him so I could eat. Made us feel right at home the whole time. Will be returning again and again.”
“I honestly can’t understand the negative reviews for this restaurant — they must be thinking of somewhere else! From the moment you walk in, you’re greeted with friendly smiles and a cosy, welcoming atmosphere that instantly makes you feel at home. The staff are always lovely and attentive, often recommending fresh specials or dishes that aren’t even on the menu. The food isn’t complicated — it’s simply prepared with care and skill, which makes all the difference. And the chicken… oh, the chicken! It’s cooked to perfection, tender and full of flavour, the kind that makes your mouth water the moment it arrives at the table. I’ve been eating here for as long as I can remember, and I have never had a bad meal. Consistently excellent food, warm service, and a homely atmosphere — it’s one of those rare places that you want to return to regularly, even after 20 years”
