“I doubted family run Traditional Italian Restaurants after experiencing so so quality food and samey options delivered by overly passionate staff. Portobello Restaurant has put my faith back in the Italian culinary experience. On entering I was met by grounded, accommodating staff that ensured I was happy with the choice of table. Staff were smiley, chatty and assisted joyfully with the menu options. I opted for some nibbles and their excellently priced 2 courses for £19.95. The atmosphere in Portobello Restaurant is relaxed, sociable and family oriented. The minimalist artistic interior beams with natural light. Dishes were superbly presented, quality was evidently high. The jelly babies and hand written “thank you” on the bill echoed the care they provide to their customers. A wonderful experience.”

“We had our Christmas party here last night at the Christmas party night - and that it was. The whole night was fantastic - from being greeted on the car park to the amazing meal to the bar, the staff, the disco - it was all fabulous. The team were so professional and attentive, a real credit to The School House . The meal - wow, everyone commented on how beautiful the meal was. The disco - great music, great dj- really got the party going. We all had such a lovely night. On behalf of us all thank you for the best Christmas party we’ve had, we will definitely see you next year”

“Our first visit to the Olive Garden. We visited on the recommendation of a relative and it was fairly good. We ordered the grill platter and Iskender Falafel. The grill was more than enough for two and had a good amount of variety. Did find it somewhat bland, but that's because we normally prefer spices. However, the Olive Garden does offer a good alternative to the standard Indian grills. So it's probably a great option if you prefer less spicy foods. We were served by Hannah and the level of service was excellent. Most likely will visit again to try other menu entries. The restaurant is very clean and is furnished to a good standard. The only small issue was the latch on the male washroom: it doesn't lock.”

The birthday light show prepared by the staff, along with the beautifully presented baklava and cake plate, was truly impressive and made us feel very special. “Having tried all the great places like Chaiwalla, Chai Green ... if you havent tried Muhammadi breakfasts your missing out. The food the service the portions the ambiance is great. Enjoyed the 5:99 breakfast from choice of 4 dishes served alongside the Laccha Parata and cuppa tea or drink. It was delicious non oily! The 1 Parata was equivalent to 2 - i was full up having half - The saag was delicious - being from a Bangladeshi background the flavours Pakistani cuisine was absolutely impeccable. The chana had also flavours not like chai green where salt is forgotten- the chef is clearly checking his flavours before serving to his customers. Dont be fooled by the front entrance plenty of seating inside from 8-9 tables and benches. Very comfy and homely... Thankyou Muhammadi for coming into the area. My first choice now compared to chaiwalla and chai green breakfast- Must try!”

“It's a lovely resturants with a great atmosphere. The food was absolutely beautiful. We asked for a quiet corner table,as it was our wedding anniversary, which they catered for. They even surprised us with an anniversary dessert. Our server, Armahdo, was diligent, pleasant and catered for our needs. I would 100% recommend this resturant.”

“i’m a regular here and they have never failed me, food is 10/10. Always go for the smash burger meal with chicken loaded fries and never failed me. Service is always good and love that they always open till late. I’m not one to usually leave reviews, but these guys deserve all 5 stars.”

“I normally never leave reviews however I had to with this place. First of all whilst me and my friend were waiting for others to join they gave us complimentary drinks. The meal was delicious genuinely nothing to complain about. First time ever in a long time saw a restaurant not do service charge and this actually made me want to give them a tip! So I did. They also give complimentary bread with dip on top !! The bread is soo good, could have just eaten that. The service is also 5/5, definitely recommending this place to my friends and I’ll be coming back too !”

I ordered a falafel wrap, chicken kebab, batata harra, and tea, and each dish was bursting with flavor and perfectly cooked. “By far the best fish n chips in the whole of birmingham. Better than Bedders all day long. No weird greasy aftertaste, no smelly smells in the restaurant. The chips cooked to perfection. Fish was lovely and flaky no skin or off putting veins in the fish no bones, good decent portion size, average price. Service was friendly, atmosphere was relaxing, a great place to dine with plenty of seating either upstairs or downstairs. Overall 10/10 definitely worth going and has become our regular for fish n chips.”

“Came with a friend for a work event and travelled 30 minutes and was really worth it Poppadoms, mango chutney is great We had chicken Karahi with naans and good portion sizes Don’t forget to have their mocktails as they tasted amazing Not only that staff was really friendly and attentive Price wise very reasonable and affordable For two people cost no more than £35 for what we ordered. Atmosphere is great with great music in the background Lastly when do you use warm hand wipe with a gentle scent of oud.”

“Very intimate venue with a classic decor. Generous portion sizes and great flavours, absolutely wholesome food. Starters - goat cheese parcel and king scallops were fantastic. The thermidor sauce on the scallops was a highlight. Mains - steak dolceletta and lamb ragu raviolini. Both fantastic and loved the homemade pasta. Steak had some very complimentary blue cheese. Desserts - were both not really dessert people due to poor quality in restaurants but these were lovely, I had the pavlova and it was massive but still light. If we had to critique, the service felt a little rushed and the ambience was affected by the music that was dicey/dated Would go again 4 alcoholic drinks 2 starters 2 mains 2 desserts 1 side £115”

“I don't bother to review unless the experience is extremely unsatisfactory or highly pleasing. Happy to say this fell into the latter. Been craving for some burger, decided to go on a Thursday night to find the place totally empty. Still sceptical, was looking at the menu, when a friendly chap greeted us. There are good options for non-veg(beef/chicken) and veg burgers and wraps. We decided on a avo-chicken and a farm house veg burger for my partner. With little expectations we waited for our food, but pleasantly surprised when it arrived in huge portions. The chicken was perfectly grilled with good flavours of parsley and herbs which I enjoyed, seemed to be a Turkish/mid eastern take on chicken patty. The veg burger was also delectable with fried cheese. The chips were super crispy and batter fried with proper seasonings. While waiting, there were quite a few takeaways, so wasn't that empy after all. In all we had a very satisfied meal, very much recommended.”

“Had the Bottomless Brunch here as a birthday treat, and we received great service from start to finish. It was my first time here so wasn’t sure what to expect but we really enjoyed it. A few more dishes could be added to the menu but what we had was delicious. We also had 2 cocktails each and a bottle of Prosecco on the table. I’m sure they would have bought us another bottle if we could have finished it but we were taking it slow due to a heavy one the night before! Definitely recommend and would come again!”

After a long and tiring day at work, that food brought me back to life. It lifted my mood, gave me energy, and turned my Sunday into a proper good one.
