Bistro in Brighton

“I went for lunch here, found it by a quick google search: best fish and chips near me. Large portions which were freshly cooked and up to standard.. jacket potato looked abit black/brown inside and was hard.. still edible. Fish and chips were a delight to eat and we had it taken away. Service was incredible with one lady managing it by herself but she was very attentive. Would recommend as they have a very extensive menu which has something for everyone. Would visit again lovely spot x”

“I cannot recommend Relish and Alison highly enough. Alison was recommended to me by 3 people. Not only is she lovely, sympathetic and funny but a brilliant cook as well. She did us proud, really looked after us, nothing was too much trouble and everyone commented on how lovely the food was. Thank you Alison and team, you are brilliant!”

“We stopped in for coffee and wished we had more time for breakfast. We enjoyed Turkish coffee and Turkish tea. Both were absolutely fantastic! The service was super personal, it truly gave the café vibe. It felt more like I was surrounded by locals and not just tourists. I recommend and wish we had found it sooner.”

“This is my favourite restaurant in Worthing! The food and service are always 5*....having just returned from the Mediterranean I wanted to keep the vibe going a bit longer. The food is superb and every bit (if not more) as good as we have eaten abroad. It's a shame the restaurant isn't situated nearer Warwick Street as I feel it would always be packed with people. Every time I have been in there it has been quiet and I'm sure it's because it is slightly out of the town centre, with not many other restaurants nearby? Thoroughly recommend to everyone, it's only a short walk and worth every step!!!”

“Stopped by this place while venturing around ‘The Lanes’ with my partner and a friend and what an amazing find (even worth a visit for the coffee alone!) The staff were extremely welcoming and attentive and really made our morning. We only stopped for coffee but decided to stay for breakfast after looking at the menus, our friend opted for the Islas Breakfast which looked amazing (lovely bit of sausage), my partner went for the No Meat Breakfast; both would have given me food envy had my Hash not been so tasty! The food arrived quickly and nothing was too much to ask of the staff. Definitely a little gem and we will definitely be returning!”

“This place is truly truly fantastic. Don’t listen to the naysayers, the negative ninnies. The food is wonderful, the staff are gorgeously wonderful and the atmosphere top notch. In a way, this wonderful place is a bit of time capsule, but it’s one of the reasons why this place is so wonderful. Amongst the many overpriced, hyper-gentrified and over modern places that we are forced to dine in, this place stands out for something true, wonderful, fun, nostalgic and just brilliant. “Visited late night and they still served us, the server (young lad) was so friendly and attentive. The food was absolutely delicious and the chef was lovely. Very clean place. Huge portions for a very good price! We will be back to hove for this food”

“Came for dinner on Sat night. I've been coming here for years, and have always loved it. Dinner on Sat was perfect, Catherine our waiter was on point, attentive and charming. The bar guys kept our glasses full and gave great recommendations. Every dish was seasoned and balanced, the kitchen nailed it! Cant wait to come back. Thanks again.”

“Lovely meal at the weekend. Impromptu visit, called ahead about 30 minutes before and they managed to find us a table for 2. Great food, starters, mains and dessert. Filet steak was very tasty. Nice cheerful staff. Nice little place to go.”

“Perfect airport cafe/restaurant with REAL art deco look and feel and panoramic views of the airfield, plus outside terrace to take the sun. We were there for cafe visit and were served by friendly, helpful staff. Good coffees. Tea in teapot and Danish Pastries to die for - ming that waistline!”

“A great little Bar-Restaurant located not far from the River Adur. It has a decent variety of local beers, ales, and gins. There was a reasonable amount of indoor and outdoor seating for its size. With outdoor seating, it leaves you in a great atmosphere, especially when the sun is shining and the nice cool breeze from the river hits you. The food I had was very tasty and freshly cooked. There's a good mixture of choices of options on the menu depending on your preferences. All of the staff were very friendly and efficient. The number of toilet facilities was fairly limited for both male and females. Overall, everything was fairly priced. I had a pleasant experience on this visit, so I would definitely like to visit again.”

“We visited this restaurant after reading glowing reviews, and it still managed to exceed our expectations! It’s a small, cozy place with an incredible atmosphere and absolutely outstanding food. We started with hummus and toasted bread, followed by roasted chicken for my husband and crab linguine for me. To top it off, we shared a bottle of wine—and everything was simply fantastic! The experience was so wonderful that we couldn’t resist taking a slice of cake to go. The total? Just £60—an amazing value for such a memorable meal. It was a special occasion for us, and we truly couldn’t have chosen a better place. Highly recommended!”

“I walked in a (sort of) sleet storm from Worthing with the incentive of a coffee at the perch lancing and it didn’t disappoint! Lovely welcome, delicious coffee (& the best cheeky bacon bap - I’d walked 2.5 miles so I decided I deserved it!) great views. Just a shame a couple arrived and had a phone conversation on speaker next to me, but that’s not the perch’s fault! My first visit. The best incentive to do a 5 miler a couple times a week!”

“A Hidden Gem in Brighton – A Must Visit! We stumbled across Busby and Wilds by chance while looking for somewhere dog-friendly with good food — and it absolutely did not disappoint! From the moment we arrived, we were warmly welcomed by the owner, Emily, which instantly made us feel at home. The food was absolutely delicious and clearly made fresh with care. Every bite was spot on. It’s rare to find a place that nails the balance of great atmosphere, amazing food, and genuine hospitality. This is now my go-to spot whenever I’m in Brighton. Highly recommend!”

“What a lovely meal. All 3 courses were great. Thought the portions were spot on, just the right amount. Great classic flavours with some little twists. The effort put in for gravy, for Sunday's roast is awesome! (Started on a Tuesday) Definitely booking for that in the near future.”

“We had a delicious brunch time snack at the cafe du jardin. The entrance way is unassuming but don't let that fool you, this rustic restaurant serves delicious bites and thirst quenching drinks in a relaxed and informal French cafe style both outdoor and indoor tables and believe me this place gets busy. Our server, Albie was an absolute gem, he worked hard to ensure no one was waiting, very attentive and capable. As you can see from my photos the food is excellent. However I wished I had ordered one of the tasting plates as they look fantastic.”

“Come across this gem whilst working down here and trust me I'm so glad I did, The food was so tasty and succulent. I was asked to try this pizza the chef cooks for the staff , it's bread with a sweet peanut buttery topping, sorry for not remembering the name but it was delicious. We will definatly be going back here. No other takeaway comes close. Thanks guys for that very tasty meal. The kofta was absolutely mouth watering. Well done you certainly know your stuff. “Well this was a rather merry and jolly visit. We were served by a wonderful young person called Liv A (the A is important because there are two Livs but I'm sure the other Liv is very lovely too) Our Liv is a delightful human being with very nice hair and a very friendly and personable manner. I have allergies and she was very helpful in navigating the menu. As always the food was delicious. We will definitely be back!”

“Outstanding Restaurant I had the pleasure of dining here on a Friday evening. The first thing I was so impressed with the menu great choices for vegetarian and meat consumers alike. I started with scalops which I shared with my girlfriend and the portion was ample for two. Then I had pork belly. My girlfriend had the beef. Every mouthful of food was absolutely superb. The staff are friendly helpful and proactive. Even the drinks were first class. I cannot wait to return. Not overpriced too”

“Lured in by the fantastic cakes in the window! Had a sandwich which came on thick bloomer bread with plenty of filling, a salad and crisps. Great value for money. Quirky decor, nice atmosphere and a friendly welcome. It’s a great place to eat in Rottingdean and exceptional value. Will be back.”

“This place is the absolute best! The food is really yummy definitely my favourite place to eat in or takeaway. i love the concept of choosing what i want in my pasta bowl. I recommend ordering the Italian Mini Pizza's as a side. Decent prices and the staff and the owner are so nice and knows how to deliver good customer service.”

“This place is amazing. Loved the vibe, music, and most importantly the food. We were looking for the perfect place that served breakfast; cooked for me and vegan for my wife. After looking at several places, we found Kooks. We were served by the very friendly Glyn. What arrived was knock-out (see photos). My poached eggs were perfect. Real attention to detail with the cooking. And my wife’s yoghurt and granola was exactly what she craved, but there was also a vegan cooked breakfast option. Cannot recommend this place highly enough and we’ll be going back the next time we’re in Brighton. Love love love ❤️”

“I think this must be fairly new as I have no recollection of this pub / restaurant. Thomas Paine has strong local connections, unlike Casta and Madge. He helped inspire the American revolutionary war and almost lost his head in the French one. Silly so and so. I had another Harvey's Sussex best bitter. One of three real ales on my visit. Very good. Up steep stairs finds a roof terrace. Must be lovely on a warm sunny day / evening. Free wifi.”
