“I N C R E D I B L E. Booked us an Afternoon Tea experience, and then we were able to have a whiskey in the Whiskey Room — absolutely perfect time! The service is impeccable, the property is beautiful, and every detail is noted — truly, flawless! Thank you for a lovely splurge and excellent date afternoon.”
“One of my favorite hotels I've stayed at! The room was so cozy and clean and I loved the privacy doors on the room and sliding wooden door for the window. The free mini bar was a nice touch as well as the champagne upon arrival, slippers and robes :) Only "downside" was that I wanted to stay in the room & relax instead of exploring. The staff was very friendly and accommodating, even after checkout they stored our bags for the day while we were in the city. Highly recommend.”
“The Balmoral was an incredible hotel to stay at. The service was like no other. I unfortunately fell ill my second day into our trip and the hotel offers a service where a physician comes to the hotel to be checked out. This alone made me feel like I was being taken care of and I was appreciated as a guest. The staff was always so kind and cheerful. I am hoping to make my way back to Scotland so I can see more of this beautiful place!”
“This is by far the best hostel I have stayed in. The staff is super friendly, they have so many different events every night to get you to socialize with other travellers. When traveling and staying in hostels you don't always want to buy a whole bottle of oil or some salt and pepper, at Castle Rock they have tons of different spices, oil, free tea, coffee and even plant-based milk available for you to use! This is the first time I've stayed in a hostel with so many things. They have a super cozy movie room too. And a quite lounge where you can go chill in silence if that's what you prefer.”
“We couldn't have wished for a more beautiful location to stay. The cottage was very private and full of charm, with enclosed garden for our little dog. The amenities were comfortable and clean, it was a short drive to the nearest shops or Edinburgh park and ride. The WiFi was excellent (both of us worked remotely with no issues). The surrounding property was like something out of Beatrix Potter, with lots of walks and wildlife. We can't wait to return!”
“A superb place to hike; you can find many highland cows there in their wild, natural habitat. Be prepared to walk there off-road as the tracks finish as you go higher and higher. Would recommend taking hiking shoes as you have to walk on slippery or muddy surfaces. A coat is also highly recommended as it is very windy at the top.”
“This is my favorite hotel in Edinburgh. Quiet and tranquil with gorgeous Arthur’s Seat views. The staff here are amazing, hospitable, friendly, they go out of their way to help and are especially concerned about guests who may be choking or coughing while eating. The rooms are modern and clean and the beds are comfortable, windows can open for fresh air. The food is excellent and the cozy space is homey. It’s adjacent to the Scott hotel, with its lush velvet lounge and posh brasserie, giving Downton Abbey vibes.”
“**An Unforgettable Stay – Simply Outstanding!** Our stay at this hotel was nothing short of magical. From the moment we arrived, we were welcomed with such warmth and genuine hospitality that we immediately felt at home. The room was absolutely stunning – beautifully decorated, impeccably clean, and offering an unforgettable view of the cathedral that took our breath away. Every detail was thoughtfully curated, and the level of cleanliness was truly exceptional. The breakfast was a real highlight – delicious, fresh, and with a wide variety that left nothing to be desired. But what made our stay truly extraordinary was Paul and his amazing team. Their hospitality goes far beyond what one would expect – they anticipated our every need, made us feel truly special, and delivered a level of service we have never experienced before. Their passion, professionalism, and care are unmatched. This hotel is, without a doubt, *the place to be*. We cannot recommend it highly enough and are already looking forward to our next visit. A heartfelt thank you to Paul and the entire team – you made our stay unforgettable!”
“After having stayed in Whitworth Locke before in Manchester and having such a good experience, we decided to book this hotel in Edinburgh for my birthday trip! And we’re so glad we did! The rooms are beautiful as they always are in Locke hotels, the cafe downstairs was great. And staff were lovely and friendly! The lady that checked us in was particularly incredible! After having a sleepless night we arrived to the hotel a lot earlier than check in time and we were dreading having to stay out all day running on empty. We asked if there was any chance early check in was available and she allowed us to check in a lot earlier as our room was ready! We were really grateful for this and really appreciate hotels that offer little extras for guests! Thank you :)”
“Very helpful front desk. No lift but Karlite from the front office efficiently helped with all our 8 luggages. A cosy and clean place, the 2 bedroom apartment is spacious and centrally located.”
“This long overdue review is finally being written because I'm thinking back of the wonderful 3-night stay I had at the end of August. :) The twin room was cozy, warm, and quiet after spending full days in Edinburgh. Oh and the Tunnock's caramel wafer biscuit and hot chocolate were welcome treats to return to and warm up to. LORNA IS WONDERFUL!! Every morning she made sure we started our day with her delicious breakfast offerings. Even though we had a car we opted to walk 10 minutes to the bus stop and take it to the city center. I enjoy walking out not surrounded by hotels and busy streets. It was nice feeling like a local and taking the 30 minute or so bus in. I highly recommend a stay and look forward to my next visit to Lorna and Whitecroft B & B! :)”
“Small and quiet hotel, with very friendly staff and good food. Room was clean, cozy and beautiful. Loved to read the newspaper at the sitting room while sipping a cup of tea. There is free hotel car park”
“Split level apartment relatively well equipped with breakfast hamper a nice touch! Our hob was broken so we had a portable one for the 9 days we stayed, a little inconvenient as it took up more space but still functional for making meals. Good wifi. Good water pressure and temp in shower. Bedrooms are small but functional. Note there are no windows to open for breeze. Was granted access to do laundry due to length of stay. Staff was very friendly and checked in daily if we needed anything. Location is perfect in the center of town, next door to the museum and across the street from The Cross and Palace. Would recommend and would stay again.”
“Came in for some lunch, staff were very nice and had quick service, burger was very tasty and probably the best one ive had in Edinburgh so far. Would 100% recommend to anyone to try this place!!”
“We are amazed.. Everything is perfect.. position is in city centar.. apartment is very clean and comfortable.. getting in and out Vas perfect.. so they have 11 of 10..”
“Beautiful apartment and an incredible location! We also couldn't believe how well equipped the apartment was, especially the kitchenware. All the staff both leading up to the stay and in the office where we kept the luggage were extremely friendly and helpful. Will definitely stay again if we can.”
“Clean and quiet and fun We went with our 3 children all under 10. The wigwams themselves were clean and comfortable. They look out onto a hay field. There are animals on the farm, but you can choose to interact with them or not. Once my 3 year old discovered there were sheep she could be face to face with, that was it. The owners are all extremely patient, friendly and knowledgeable. If you have any questions about places to go and things to do, they can help you out. The kitchen has almost everything you could need for cooking. There is an indoor entertainment room with games, a TV and table tennis. There is an outside playground. And the toilets and showers are all very clean. Highly recommended for anyone looking to stay outside of the city.”
“Perfect holiday experience. Williamscraig is a set of several high spec holiday homes. 8 of our family stayed in Laurel cottage. It was spacious, well equipped and the beds were very comfy. There was plenty of parking. We made use of the hottub every night, explored the beautiful, peaceful surroundings on foot, and got to feed the gorgeous Highland cows. The town of Linlithgow was a lovely surprise including the stunning castle and St. Micheal's church. The regular trains from Linlithgow station meant Edinburgh and Glasgow are within easy reach for visiting.”
“This place was a highlight of my trip to Edinburgh last year. The host was so friendly and welcoming with great conversation, her breakfasts are huge and delicious. Took care of my daughter and I like we were family.”
“A fantastic place if you ever wanna visit Edinburgh, great value for money, clean, modern, walking distance to many places.”
“The perfect place to stay for our mini moon in Edinburgh! The rooms were really comfortable, with a huge bed with lovely bedding. The room had everything we needed: towels and toiletries, hot drinks, TV, as well as access to a lounge area. The location was lovely and quiet, while still being close to the centre on foot and by tram (nearest tram stop was 15 mins walk away). It was a great surprise that many aspects of the B&B were eco-friendly, from the toiletries to the sourcing of the food. John was a great host, super friendly and helpful. You can tell he cares about making sure people have a good stay!”
“We had a fantastic 2 night stay at Sonas! We loved the clean and quiet room with lots of amenities, free parking, and walkable distance to downtown. Lots of delicious restaurants close by also! Thank you for the fantastic hospitality!”
“If I could get the best surprise trip for my birthday, a huge chunk of it goes to Just B! An unconventional place run by exceptional people, Karo & Jeff along with their 2 adorable dogs, Sky & Blue! The welcome we received was the sign that we were going to have a great time here. I'd recommend everyone should have an experience of this place at least once.”
“Excellent location with a bus down the road that goes straight into the centre. Room was immaculate and very trendy. We stayed 2 nights without breakfast so cant comment on that but was greeted kindly and then left to it which is what I love! 10/10”
“Elizabeth was really wonderful and made our day. She was kind, helpful and very funny. We missed our flight and were scrambling for somewhere to stay. We had booked the farmhouse as it was close and affordable and are so glad we did! The rooms were cozy and clean and the breakfast was really delicious. Elizabeth has been running the B&B for most her life and it really shows in the hospitality she showed us. I would definitely stay again and would recommend to others. There are no fridges in the rooms and the tv is small but that’s part of B&Bs usually anyway.”
“Really lovely place. Owner was super friendly and helpful. Room was beautiful and clean. Shower worked well. The breakfast was also great with lots of choices. There is a bus stop right outside that takes you right to the centre.”
“Had a lovely stay here, was a little concerned about plane noise, but didn't have any disturbance at all. The spa was very nice, and breakfast was good as well, and friendly staff throughout. The Christmas decorations really added to the vibe as well!”
“Lovely clean, spacious rooms.Ate in The Pub.Food, drink and service really good.We were served by Emma who was lovely, very friendly and smiley.Would definately stay here again.”
“The Owner was friendly and the Lady who was looking after the caravan park whilst I stayed was very friendly and helpful. (It’s terrible but after two and a bit months I’ve forgotten her name). The shower and toilet block were very new looking and clean. The kitchen was well set-up and modern also. The wifi was great in the kitchen.”
“A very beautiful and quaint restaurant with amazing customer service served with a smile. Very dog friendly too and Poppy Dog got treats and plenty of friendly pats. Everything was lovely, the food, the decor and even the toilets. The food was amazing and well presented, so thanks to the Chef and a wee walk around the beautiful village to finish it off. A beautiful place to go to.”
