“Our wedding reception dinner at The Bonham was splendid. The staff were exceptionally helpful and worked with us beforehand to make sure everything went perfectly. The dinner itself was quite possibly the finest we’ve experienced. The food was delicious, and the service was seamless. Cannot recommend enough, and we will be returning if we’re ever in Edinburgh again.”
“We had the perfect stay. On arrival our room was ready early and we had been upgraded. Every member of staff we met were welcoming and helpful. The Hotel is clean and comfortable. They have everything you need for your stay. Tea/ coffee tray, decent hairdryer, iron and ironing board. Location is perfect for all tourist attractions. Perfect hotel and we had a perfect stay. We can’t thank the staff enough for making our stay so nice.”
“Absolutely perfect! The location is ideal. The rooms are impeccable. The staff, wow where to start? From the moment you walk in the staff is extremely welcoming kind and warm. The personnel at the bar is so friendly and fun, Leon & Lauren are the best, what a treat this stay was. I recommend 100%. Can’t wait to go back.”
“First of all, the location is fantastic. It's right across from St. Giles Cathedral and is always crowded. As a woman, walking alone at night or early in the morning wasn't a problem. The rooms and restrooms are very clean. The bunk beds have curtains, like capsules, which is great for privacy. All the staff are very sweet and friendly. As a woman traveling alone, I felt very comfortable and safe. However, it's an expensive hostel. Not so budget-friendly. The cafe/restaurant part isn't exactly a common area, so you can't comfortably eat or drink what you buy from outside.”
“Very friendly host who offers a warm greeting. The room was lovely. The think I really enjoyed was how quiet everything was, I rarely heard folks in other rooms which I really appreciated. The bed was comfy and the food was good, can’t ask for much more.”
“Great service absolutely beautiful hotel and grounds. Rooms were very clean and comfortable. It is also only 8 min from the train station to Edinburg. Little tip....parking is free at the station and easy to navigate. Train is the way to go with an off and on all day tour bus pass.”

“This place is an absolute gem! I recently booked a couple of nights at Garvock house very last minute whilst driving to the west of Scotland to visit family. Decided to break up the journey and so glad that I chose here! The hotel grounds and garden are beautiful and such a lovely, peaceful area to relax in. The room was spacious, comfortable and well equipped, and the staff were all excellent. I completely fell in love with this place and already looking to rebook for a few more days later in the year :)”
“Reasonable price for UK standards. Really lovely location with not just the church (good enough reason in itself, about 150 m away!) but a lovely ruined castle, gorgeous walks along the river in a lovely forest. Facilities good and clean.”
“Stopped in for lunch on the off chance. Highly recommended. The service was great, the food was amazing. If only I could have squeezed in a dessert... Perfect for a post walk rest. If you're within visiting distance, you won't regret it.”
“We came for Sunday lunch. The food was very good. The service was discrete and there when you needed it. We're there tiny niggles, of course, the potatoes served with my roast beef were not Roux standard, the asparagus risotto was a bit tight and lacked a bit of zing. The vegetarian courses lacked protein. But these are tiny things in a tapestry of happiness, from the entry, to the coffee, to the pics in the lovely garden it was a day's life in a country mansion and we left very pleased. We loved the lounge with the books and fire and could happily have stayed forever.”

“We arrived for a family birthday celebration ( 13 of us ) and from the start to finish it was the best dining experience we have had, the staff are fantastic and the food was 10/10. Think some of these so called top Edinburgh restaurants need to have a look at how to look after people like this. Well done all !”
“We had a lovely 3-night stay at Sonder Royal Garden. Smooth check in, great location, and very happy with our “superior two bedroom” room — it was clean and well-stocked. As mentioned in some of the reviews, the hotel does not have AC; however, the windows open and the hotel provided a box fan for each bedroom (which effectively cooled our rooms down and served as a sound machine for the street outside). Excellent hotel for independent/self-sufficient travelers.”
“We had an amazing stay at The Knight Residence by Mansley. The rooms are quiet and rather well-maintained, and the apartment was spacious enough for a family of four. The apartment comes with a washing machine, which is ideal for those who wish to stay longer here. Although it’s a bit warm at night due to the recent heat wave, the helpful staff supplied us with an electric fan to cool the apartment down.”
“(Solo female traveller) This was my first experience using a hostel and it was great. The staff are very friendly and the beds are comfortable. The bathrooms were very clean and it was convenient to have secure lockers in the rooms to store items that I didn't want to carry around all day. The curtain fits well around the bottom of the bed and I felt no issues with personal safety etc. The only negative I can think of would be that the keypads beep when you use them - helpful during the day, annoying at night. However, I am a light sleeper, even with earplugs. I decided to book here again on the return leg of my journey, so it really wasn't that much of an issue!”
“Lovely place for a pint or two. The staff are so lovely and it is very kid friendly. Definitely recommend this place to anyone”
“This hostel was a very friendly cheery place with a very kind staff. The hostel had a good location and good security as well. The rooms and bathrooms were clean and the kitchen was well stocked. The lounge area was welcoming and made it easy to meet people. Really enjoyed the stay here!”
“Dene Guest House was wonderful. Besides the place being immaculate, Hamish and his amazing Spanish wife were extremely friendly and accommodating. We stayed 5 nights and enjoyed the quiet and tranquility of the neighborhood. The shared bathroom was never a problem - we almost never had to wait. As budget travelers, we highly appreciated the free cereal, coffee and fridge available to us. Would definitely return.”
“Underrated hotel! The room was huge, had a big bathtub, a double bed, a bunk bed, and even a couch — all for just £100. Super good value. The staff were super friendly and helpful. The location’s great too, just a short walk to the tram station and about 25 minutes to the city center. Also loved having my own fridge and access to a 24-hour kitchen. Would definitely stay again.”
“Lovely little canal boat to spend a night in Edinburgh. Situated within walking distance of the city centre, the accommodation was clean and comfortable.”
“Lovely apartment, warm and comfortable with wonderful high ceilings. It was well positioned near to the centre of Edinburgh, so I didn't have to walk too far to see the sights.”
“This apartment was fantastic. Right in the heart, with Edinburgh Castle just a short walk away.”
“I stayed in the Juniperlea Inn for 1 night this week. I found the staff and owner very helpful and lovely to deal with. Food was to a very good standard, room was lovely and well presented. Although the main road is nearby the room itself was quiet and you couldn't hear any traffic. I would definitely book again!”
“Ten years ago, my family and I stopped by on a whim while visiting Rosslyn Chapel. We were wowed by the food and have been talking about it ever since. On this recent trip to Scotland, we purpose planned our visit to this gem of a restaurant. The ambiance is wonderful, the food is delicious and it feels like home. You will not be disappointed. I had the steak pie, which had large and tender chunks of beef and a fantastic puff pastry on top. My wife had the fish & chips which was flakey and so yummy. Both came with French Fries (chips) and a veg. The food was as good as we remembered and we’ll be coming back the next time we’re here.”
“Decided to stay at the Riccarton Inn while working in the area and glad I did. Rooms are basic, but comfortable and are perfect for my needs. The bar seems very popular with locals, despite this, the service is swift and even though we have only been there once we were well attended to. The food is excellent, as is the beer! I will be back in the area in a couple of weeks and will be booking into The Riccarton Inn. Don't be put off by the lack of an available breakfast, just head along to Molly's or Corner Cafe for a fantastic breakfast. It's understandable that no breakfast is provided as there are only 5 bedrooms.”
“I didn't stay at the hotel but visited the bistro for food. The mussels are incredible, fresh, full of flavour and the bread on the side was epic. The family had various other items and thoroughly enjoyed theirs. Will 100% be back when next in town.”
“It may seem like a cold place, but the services, rooms, and cuisine make it wonderful. Unfortunately the town has no interesting sites to offer, but the hotel is absolutely excellent. The cuisine is also spectacular: top-notch!”
“I slept for only one night and it was nice. Cool place, quiet and people were respectful. As in all places in scotland, it is cold inside in winter and I was not able to get free towel after 22. Deffinitely recommend staying here!”
“We had a lovely visit to The Ivy for high tea with friends. From the moment we arrived, we received a warm welcome, and the atmosphere was perfect for a relaxed afternoon together. A special mention goes to Joe, who gave us outstanding customer service. He was friendly, smiling throughout, and really helpful — he communicated clearly about our order and made sure everything was just right. The food was fresh and delicious, as always. Overall, a wonderful experience, and we’ll definitely be coming again.”
