“It's the first time I've been but I was welcomed like a regular. Great selection of beer to add to the friendly atmosphere makes it a great place to go. Treats for the dog also added the icing on the cake”

“We enjoyed our meal: large portions: good choice on the menu and excellent, friendly service. The Taylor's Landlord wasn't in good condition and there was a poor choice of Rosé wines, but it would be churlish not to give 5 stars.”

“Great all you can eat place. Good selection of grilled meats, loads of salads and great drinks to wash down what you have eaten. I really enjoyed my visit there and I will come back as soon as I can.”

“We’ve been to Ambiente a few times now and it’s always been a brilliant experience with a great atmosphere. Everyone is always friendly, helpful and knowledgeable. Our server was Lorien and she was so lovely. The food was, as usual, absolutely delicious. 5 tapas between us was just right, but we’re not big eaters. The calamari was exceptional. We had a great time and will definitely be going again then next time we’re in York.”

“Fantastic dinner and atmosphere. We had a reservation for the outside canopy and it was a brilliant cosy dinner. Felt like home with the radiators and the blankets. It would be nice to have more tapa options but the ones we had were spot on. Recommend it !”

“I love coming to Saint Jude. It's definitely one of the hidden gems of Farsley (having escaped my notice for quite a while). It's a fantastic place to sit and watch the world go by. It does get pretty busy which is normally enough to put me off choosing somewhere for a quiet lunch. But it's dog friendly and a really nice atmosphere. I don't know how they do it, but even at absolute capacity the staff are super attentive without ever being imposing. It's really nice to have as a local spot. They truly make it seem easy and we all know it isn't. My only gripe is that the Jalapeño poppers were too good. I've never found ones that nice since and they absolutely need to make a comeback to the menu. Whether it's a quiet brew (they do good coffee. Even if you're a fellow coffee snob), or a working lunch. It's a great place to call in and relax. I'll definitely be back soon.”

“Lovely intimate bar and restaurant in Pudsey. Sourcing and using local produce which is excellent. Started with two very good cocktails which were 241 which is great vfm. Quiet atmosphere with background music which meant it was perfect for conversations. Staff very pleasant and efficient. Scallops were cooked to perfection. We had the Chateaubriand and it was melt in the mouth gorgeous! The chips were the best I have ever tasted. Side salad perfectly dressed and the broccoli was brought to life with chilli, Parmesan and almond flakes! We even managed to share a delicious sticky toffee pudding. Highly recommend this local restaurant.”

“Very nice spot for really tasty food. We had to wait a while as hadn’t booked, so recommend doing so as it is popular. Also there was a slight wait at the bar as not many staff on but the staff were really nice. The food was excellent, nicely cooked meats and tasty. Got the cauliflower cheese and pigs in blankets which were both nice additions and big portions. Looks like a great outdoor area at the back overlooking the river”

“Our second stay, wonderful once again. The rooms in the main building are stylish and comfortable, with beautiful joinery, though severely lacking in surface areas so it’s challenging to put anything down except on the floor! However, one comes for the food and warmth of welcome, and neither disappoints. The 10-course menu comprises course after beautiful course of top ingredients prepared with great skill, imagination and a strong Japanese influence and service throughout is warm and professional. The bar area still attracts a local crowd who come to enjoy a drink and sometimes stay on for a superb meal. Breakfast is no less enjoyable, with familiar elements given a ‘fine dining’ feel. Michael Wignall is a modest man with huge skill who has honed his talent in the UK’s top kitchens; we love that he now has somewhere to offer his vision of good food and hospitality.”

“Mama Mia’s in Pontefract is hands down one of the best restaurants around. From the moment you arrive you are greeted with such warm and attentive service that makes you feel right at home. The food is always outstanding and super fresh, every dish tastes like it has been made with real care and quality ingredients. Even when visiting on a weekday the place is buzzing with atmosphere, which speaks volumes about just how loved it is in the community. It is no wonder that Mama Mia’s has been open for over 30 years, the consistency and dedication really shine through every single time. I really like that there is a lovely little area at the front where you can sit down, enjoy a drink or just relax while your table is being prepared, it makes the whole dining experience feel even more special. The décor inside is beautiful and instantly transports you to Italy, giving you that authentic feel that pairs perfectly with the food. I have been many times over the years and I can honestly say it never disappoints. The atmosphere, the staff, the food and the overall experience are always spot on. If you are looking for somewhere to enjoy a fantastic meal in Pontefract, Mama Mia’s should absolutely be at the top of your list.”

“This place managed to squeeze us in at the last minute on a Friday night. The Spanish bar maid was absolutely lovely, and the chap who served up was great too. We sat downstairs and I absolutely love the rustic feel and the seating arrangements/tables and style. For only the second time in the UK, I felt like I was actually in a tapas restaurant, eating actual Spanish tapas and drinking Spanish wine. Our date was perfect, the food was so good with our particular favourites being the chorizo croquettes, the duck, onion and cheese plate (sorry forgot the name, if the owner replies to this please name that dish!!!) And the Spanish meatballs. The food was so good, I actually forgot to take a picture until we were half way through the dishes, very unlike me. Perfect food. Perfect atmosphere, perfect date. “Lively pub/restaurant, visited on a Saturday so was very busy (would recommend booking if going for food). Was quite loud and a club set up downstairs, ordered food and cocktails which were delicious, the staff were friendly and attentive. Will definitely visit again and highly recommend for some good food and cocktails. I had the bang bang chicken fried rice that was amazing.”

“Wonderful little restaurant in city centre. Easily accommodated for our large group of people. Food was prepared to our liking and served rather quickly, even though we were 14+ guests. Lasagna was delicious and appetisers utilised proper Italian meat and cheese. Pasta was also good. Kind staff was a good bonus.”

“We dined on a thu evening at The Rise for my parents wedding anniversary. We were greated by a card from the restaurant to my parents which was a lovely touch. For starters we had the cheese souffle. This was delicious however it said with walnuts but we didn't see any. For mains two of us had the lamb shanks, my husband had the fish and chips and my mum had the fish pie. Portion sizes were on the smaller side but more than adequate for us, the fish pie was larger and mum said every mouthful was packed with seafood. All were absolutely beautiful. Delicious well done chef! We only had two desserts, the pavlova and the chocolate mouse. Both were very tasty and each with its own twist on things. Food is on the more expensive side, but you pay for what you get and it's definitely worth it. Drinks are very expensive, nothing special but absolutely OK. Service fabulous the staff never stop working hard to ensure you are well cared for, very attentive. We were served by Jack mainly but all staff were fabulous. We have had two afternoon teas here which were also delicious and wonderful. The whole hotel was beautifully decorated for Christmas. We will definitely be coming back and highly recommend.”

“We had our small post wedding celebration here in The Courtyard. We stayed the night before and the evening of our wedding. The entire staff, from Event management as my first contact, to reception staff and the breakfast greeting was superb. However, a very special mention must go to Yontshi, who made sure we enjoyed our tasting menu the night before and took charge of our reception on the Saturday. “I visited this restaurant as a date night with my other half and the Food was out of this world along with the staff being exceptionally friendly who ensured our visit was enjoyable. They dealt with my food intolerance in a professional manner and never made me feel like it was a problem.
