“It may be an Italian in a small village but the food , service and atmosphere is one that belongs in a Michelin Star restaurant. Ameer works front of house and when needs is also a dab hand in the kitchen . His staff whilst local and young are all friendly and it’s great to see a local restaurant employing local staff . The Italian Chef Pepe is amazing and between my fiancé and I we have had the whole menu from salads to steaks , pasta to sorbet and the food is always delicious and exceptional and exceptional value for money . I cannot wait to fetch 40 something of my friends for my Hen Do and introduce them all to the best hidden Italian gem in the county . You were the best find 4 years ago and will continue to be our place to go for special occasions or just like tonight Bob in for tea after a busy weekend.”

“It's the first time I've been but I was welcomed like a regular. Great selection of beer to add to the friendly atmosphere makes it a great place to go. Treats for the dog also added the icing on the cake”

“I love coming to Saint Jude. It's definitely one of the hidden gems of Farsley (having escaped my notice for quite a while). It's a fantastic place to sit and watch the world go by. It does get pretty busy which is normally enough to put me off choosing somewhere for a quiet lunch. But it's dog friendly and a really nice atmosphere. I don't know how they do it, but even at absolute capacity the staff are super attentive without ever being imposing. It's really nice to have as a local spot. They truly make it seem easy and we all know it isn't. My only gripe is that the Jalapeño poppers were too good. I've never found ones that nice since and they absolutely need to make a comeback to the menu. Whether it's a quiet brew (they do good coffee. Even if you're a fellow coffee snob), or a working lunch. It's a great place to call in and relax. I'll definitely be back soon.”

“We dined on a thu evening at The Rise for my parents wedding anniversary. We were greated by a card from the restaurant to my parents which was a lovely touch. For starters we had the cheese souffle. This was delicious however it said with walnuts but we didn't see any. For mains two of us had the lamb shanks, my husband had the fish and chips and my mum had the fish pie. Portion sizes were on the smaller side but more than adequate for us, the fish pie was larger and mum said every mouthful was packed with seafood. All were absolutely beautiful. Delicious well done chef! We only had two desserts, the pavlova and the chocolate mouse. Both were very tasty and each with its own twist on things. Food is on the more expensive side, but you pay for what you get and it's definitely worth it. Drinks are very expensive, nothing special but absolutely OK. Service fabulous the staff never stop working hard to ensure you are well cared for, very attentive. We were served by Jack mainly but all staff were fabulous. We have had two afternoon teas here which were also delicious and wonderful. The whole hotel was beautifully decorated for Christmas. We will definitely be coming back and highly recommend.”

“Second visit to L'Aquila and another great experience. Between the 4 of us, we had 3 different pasta dishes and a pizza - all really good quality and just right portion sizes. Beer and wine goid choice and decent prices. Both visits have felt like the front of house staff could do with one more at busy times as it was a little slow to take drinks then food orders, and a big gap between serving starters and mains (we like a decent gap, but this was a tad lengthy). Definitely didn't spoil the experience, so don't let it put you off - just be aware and look forward to a bit of a more relaxed pace than you might be used to. We will be back soon.”

“Food was absolutely delicious. Nandos can do one as far as I’m concerned! Lots of flavour, great portion size and service with a smile. Warm and friendly atmosphere and Jimmy is a legend. Dessert was a scrumptious waffle and was so delicious. Thankyou for a great meal and value for money. I will definitely be returning and will spread the word!”

“This is one of the best pubs/inns I’ve ever been to. I was staying at the adjoining campsite whilst riding for a national motorcycle charity and being bikers themselves, Rosie, John and family made our group feel extremely welcome which enabled us to celebrate the completion of our National relay ride. Our celebrations were accommodated to the highest level of hosting by Rosie and her team which just encourages us to keep returning year after year”

“This place managed to squeeze us in at the last minute on a Friday night. The Spanish bar maid was absolutely lovely, and the chap who served up was great too. We sat downstairs and I absolutely love the rustic feel and the seating arrangements/tables and style. For only the second time in the UK, I felt like I was actually in a tapas restaurant, eating actual Spanish tapas and drinking Spanish wine. Our date was perfect, the food was so good with our particular favourites being the chorizo croquettes, the duck, onion and cheese plate (sorry forgot the name, if the owner replies to this please name that dish!!!) And the Spanish meatballs. The food was so good, I actually forgot to take a picture until we were half way through the dishes, very unlike me. Perfect food. Perfect atmosphere, perfect date. “Mama Mia’s in Pontefract is hands down one of the best restaurants around. From the moment you arrive you are greeted with such warm and attentive service that makes you feel right at home. The food is always outstanding and super fresh, every dish tastes like it has been made with real care and quality ingredients. Even when visiting on a weekday the place is buzzing with atmosphere, which speaks volumes about just how loved it is in the community. It is no wonder that Mama Mia’s has been open for over 30 years, the consistency and dedication really shine through every single time. I really like that there is a lovely little area at the front where you can sit down, enjoy a drink or just relax while your table is being prepared, it makes the whole dining experience feel even more special. The décor inside is beautiful and instantly transports you to Italy, giving you that authentic feel that pairs perfectly with the food. I have been many times over the years and I can honestly say it never disappoints. The atmosphere, the staff, the food and the overall experience are always spot on. If you are looking for somewhere to enjoy a fantastic meal in Pontefract, Mama Mia’s should absolutely be at the top of your list.”

“We had our small post wedding celebration here in The Courtyard. We stayed the night before and the evening of our wedding. The entire staff, from Event management as my first contact, to reception staff and the breakfast greeting was superb. However, a very special mention must go to Yontshi, who made sure we enjoyed our tasting menu the night before and took charge of our reception on the Saturday. “Wonderful little restaurant in city centre. Easily accommodated for our large group of people. Food was prepared to our liking and served rather quickly, even though we were 14+ guests. Lasagna was delicious and appetisers utilised proper Italian meat and cheese. Pasta was also good. Kind staff was a good bonus.”

“Lively pub/restaurant, visited on a Saturday so was very busy (would recommend booking if going for food). Was quite loud and a club set up downstairs, ordered food and cocktails which were delicious, the staff were friendly and attentive. Will definitely visit again and highly recommend for some good food and cocktails. I had the bang bang chicken fried rice that was amazing.”

“Excellent service and food, good beer.. was passing through Howden looking for a place to late lunch (most places close between 2 & 5pm), found Bishops Bistro.. had camembert to start which was delicious and sticky salmon noodles for main, which were cooked to perfection. Blondie for dessert (white choc brownie) - again delicious and all made fresh in house. Would highly recommend, reasonably priced considering the quality of food.”
