In particular want to say thank you to Jane who works at reception really nice lady spoke from the heart she is an ambassador for Ramada and she is the definition of customer service.”

“The rooms here are so clean and the beds are amazingly comfortable. In this heat we were happy to see they had a fan in the room. Good shower, TV, everything you need. We asked to have a room away from everyone else because some hotels can be so noisy with people coming in and out their rooms. But here it was completely silent. The staff are also really nice making sure you have everything you need on check in, very accomodating and also making sure we enjoyed our stay when checking out. I think if you have a car it would be good for being a little out of the way of the city centre. There's not much around the hotel but there is a Toby carvery next door, a petrol station and an Asda within walking distance. All in all it was great and exactly what we needed.”

“Can’t fault the hotel . 1. Close 5 minute walk from train station. 2. Check in was quick and easy even upgraded me to executive kindly. Very friendly staff when checking in. 3. I lost my iPhone charger and went down early hours of morning, and kindly wass given a charger to use over night.”

“Good location!!!Hotel in the heart of the city centre!!! Parking though was about 8-10 away from hotel ( market st)but quite reasonably priced considering the time spent and discounted ( 2 nights). Breakfast was very good with vegan sausages,scrambled eggs,beans etc etc. Room was adequate enough even though I ended up with a two single beds accommodation!!! Shower lovely and hot-great!!! Front desk and staff at the hotel very very welcoming especially manager( Denise) ,I think that was her name and male sidekick !!! All and all a good stay and will be returning again!!!! “A little basic, room was okay for a night but wouldn't want to do an extended stay. No tea or coffee in the room was a bit surprising, but maybe I missed that in my research. Clean, comfy, warm and friendly. Would stay again if it was just night or two. Breakfast was basic toast, cereal, croissant etc. Again nothing special but did the job”

“I don’t understand how this hotel has such a low rating. I’ve stayed in hotels all over England for business travel and this is one of the best ones I’ve ever stayed in. It feels more like a four star and it cost £69 for a double! The rooms are spacious, with good desk space and a sofa. The bathrooms are clean and the shower is good. The lobby is huge with chesterfield style leather sofas everywhere. The bar/restaurant has a decent selection. The staff were friendly. I stayed here because my flight was cancelled, but if that happens again, this is where I’m staying.”

“After a smooth check in, I found my room to be very clean and spacious. The staff are very pleasant and helpful. My meals have been very good with plenty variety to choose from.(buffet style). Travelled here on a National Coaches Holiday and I wouldn't hesitate at staying here again.”

“Just back home from a 2 night stay and it was fantastic. The rooms are modern, well thought out and clean. We ate in the pub on both nights, the food was very tasty and great value and the breakfasts were huge. The crowning glory however was the staff, attentive, friendly and helpful especially the Landlord. The bar was lively on both evenings as the sun was shining, everyone we met was very friendly. We will be back.”

“My sister and I really enjoyed our one night stay at the Hedley House Hotel. The reception staff were friendly and very helpful with directions around York and to the Barbican (where we were attending a concert). The hotel was very comfortable, clean and tidy. Our twin room was lovely. And it was only a short walk to the train station which we discovered on our way back (a shortcut shown to us by one of Hedley House team!). We would highly recommend this hotel.”

“Whats not to like , great value for money, considering its the same price as the Premier inn, yet we got loverly views, car parking, a spa and 10 min bus ride into york. Bus stop right by the hotel. Staff were all great, room was fantastic, grounds were loverly. We onlt had the breakfast but everything fresh and tasty.”

“I stayed at Dakota this month for three nights for my wedding. We booked the biggest suite in the hotel and it was absolutely amazing. The team here are something special, they all care about their job so much and made our and our guests experience an absolute joy. The suite was worth every single penny and is truly luxurious. “We got married at Wentbridge in August, and we honestly couldn’t recommend this venue highly enough. From the moment we arrived, we were struck not only by the beauty of the country house itself, with its charming character and stunning gardens, but also by the exceptional service delivered by every member of the team. The staff truly provide a 5-star experience. They were professional, welcoming, and incredibly accommodating throughout the entire process. Many of our guests even went out of their way to tell us how wonderful the staff were on the day. As a same-sex couple, one of the biggest reasons we chose Wentbridge was because we were treated with complete warmth and equality from the very start. We always felt valued, respected, and celebrated, never “different”, and that meant the world to us. The food was another major highlight. There were plenty of options and the team were so flexible in tailoring everything to what we wanted. We chose afternoon tea for our wedding breakfast, and it went down brilliantly with our guests, beautifully presented and absolutely delicious. A real luxury touch! Wentbridge is a perfect all rounder wedding venue. With family travelling from all over, having plenty of rooms on-site was ideal, and the variety of spaces throughout the hotel created a natural, enjoyable flow to the day. We were able to make the most of both the indoor and outdoor areas, giving us the best of both worlds. A special thank you to Chloe, Ellie, and Karen, who went above and beyond to make sure everything was perfect. Nothing was ever too much trouble, and their support made the whole experience feel seamless. Our wedding day was everything we hoped for and more, and Wentbridge House played a huge part in that. “Beautiful hotel, very close to train station and a short walk from the main shopping area of York. We had a lovely visit, and most of the staff were very courteous, welcoming and friendly. The room was well presented and we had a very comfortable bed. It is a higher priced hotel and you could see the attention to detail and little touches that made it special. We were slightly disappointed that we didn't receive the same warm level of greeting as other guests. It was a stay we'd saved for and had looked forward to very much. It was obvious they had regulars, which is fantastic and means the hotel gets it right as a general rule. But it would have been nice if we'd had a little conversation with the check-in member. The couple being checked in next to us were being asked very general questions like where they'd travelled from, creating a little conversation, but we didn't get the same; just a hello and asked about what card we wanted to put on file for incidentals and then silence. I did attempt to make a little polite conversation with the receptionist but it was clear that they were not interested. It made us feel a little awkward. Asking simple customer service questions makes guests feel welcome and at ease, which we didn't experience at that point. On checking out it was better; we were asked if we'd enjoyed our visit to York, where we were going back to, etc. It made us feel more welcome, even though we were checking out. All in all though, our check in experience hasn't put us off booking in again at some point. Chances are it was an exception to their usual level of service.”

“All the staff we met was absolutely great, friendly and helpful. We never eat here other then breakfast which was delicious and a fair choice and we actually got to see the kitchen area and it was spotlessly clean and the breakfast service spot on. The room we had was clean and comfortable which is all you really need only niggle I had was TV in the room was tiny for the distance it's mounted to the top of the bed where you sit to watch it's not the best, but thats just for us.”

“Quirky and fun! The decor is all kinds of classic English history with a hearty splash of irreverence, split across a couple buildings that feel like homes rather than a hotel. The room itself was small, but that suited me perfectly — great for a solo traveller. Only thing to note is I’m somewhat tall for a woman and on that bed I just about could touch my toes to the window sill while my head was by the headboard. I thought it was quite fun but taller people might want to take note. Everything was neat and clean, and the bed was comfortable. The walls are a little thin, like in any old house, so you can hear some bustling in the morning, but I personally found that endearing. The staff were very kind and friendly, and even introduced me to the hotel cat, Teddy! The location is great, just a 10-15 minute walk to the centre of town. I come through York frequently so I can say with certainty and delight that I’ll be staying here again! Thanks again to the staff for a lovely experience.”

“Home from home and will be back! Lovely, friendly, helpful, genuine staff that work hard and are a credit to The Minster. Rooms clean and more than sufficient. Very happy with the bed and had an excellent sleep! Breakfast plentiful with prompt and friendly service. The location is a 10 min walk from train station and 5 min walk to the Shambles. Loved it!”

“Spent 2 nights here and would recommend without hesitation. We booked a special offer which included two glasses of prosecco, a suite and breakfast. Our room was spacious, warm with a lovely view.
