“Called in here after been kicked out of a local pub because our under 9s football team were to young for the area we was stood in . We wanted lunch so left the team to celebrate a cup win in the travelers and went to the droppingwell as we used to come here loads so was happy to see it had been updated and was looking great , we was found a table even though it was really busy . We ordered food and drinks it came really quickly I had the pulled pork burger and my wife had the turkey pudding wrap both were excellent and good value . The place is good for all types of dates or occasions we are planning to book more after team meets here if we can , come on the under 9s eccesfield Spartans.”

“A spontaneous breakfast date for my husband and I. We had been here for drinks before but never eaten. It was incredible, our hostess Sarah was amazing, nothing was too much trouble, big smile on her face and a quick chat everything she stopped by. How she got around the restaurant serving everyone so fast I will never know but she was a stellar hostess. The food was beyond delicious, the eggs were cooked to perfection, the sausage and bacon was mouth-watering. The lovely surprise of unlimited coffee was definitely a boon. The restaurant was nice and quiet, the atmosphere wonderfully calm. We had a lovely much needed date and chose the perfect place. Thankyou to all at the Harvester for a wonderful visit.”

“Great Sunday dinner, although gutted mash isn’t on a main lunch, this definitely needs to be added. Fab kids meals, and lovely service. Special thanks to Debbie who helped us through ordering as my son has a peanut allergy. She was great with him and knew just what say to an anxious 11 y/o. Will definitely be back.”

“Came here for a family meal out. Our first visit and we was not disappointed. The pub is decorated to a very good standard with a warm and welcomimg feel, the staff were really polite and courteous too and the food menu was very extensive and exciting. Of course we had to try the platters and had our 1st taste of chicken burger with candy floss cola dip n sherbet dib dab lol which was tastebud tantalizing to say the least... Popcorn with cola sauce too. Portions were more than generous and worth every penny. Was delighted to find an outside play area at the back of the pub for the little ones. Had a wondeful time here and will definitely be returning. Highly recommend this venue you will not be disappointed. Thankyou to all the staff for a memorable day out. Much appreciated.”

It’s great to see so much being planned over Christmas — the place already feels festive, and you can tell they’ve put real thought into creating something special for everyone. Really warm and welcoming atmosphere when we went in..Cheryl who served us was very friendly as we're Matt and Recbecca (Landlords). Very reasonably priced with great selection of drinks. They had a great live singer on too which was a bonus. Would definitely recommend.”

“I recently visited this place for a festive meal, and it was fantastic! The food was top-notch, full of flavour, and beautifully presented—definitely my number one priority when I go out. The staff were super friendly, from the warm welcome to the prompt service; they really made the whole experience special. “Lovely welcoming pub. Something slightly different in that It doesn't serve food, and has no games machines. But what it does have is a fantastic ambience , good selection of beers and ales , Staff who ooze Customer service and play fantastic music . It has to be my favourite Bakewell pub. Thoroughly recommend.”

After a disappointing experience elsewhere in Southwell, me, my brother, and my sister decided to stop at The Admiral Rodney — and I’m so glad we did! From the moment we walked in, we were made to feel completely welcome. We asked if they were serving food, and Simon (who was absolutely lovely) handed us menus straight away with a smile. We found a table, took a few minutes to decide what we wanted, and when I went up to order, the lady behind the bar was so polite, friendly, and helpful — nothing was too much trouble. Our food arrived in about 15 minutes, which was a brilliant waiting time. Everything was cooked perfectly and tasted amazing — honestly some of the best pub food we’ve had in a long time. We enjoyed every bite, and the desserts were just as delicious. The atmosphere in The Admiral Rodney was warm, welcoming, and relaxed — such a comfortable place to be after a long day out. We left with full bellies and big smiles. Thank you to Simon and all the staff for such a lovely experience — we’ll definitely be back next time we’re in Southwell!”

“Beautiful meal on Friday evening. I had the herb crusted cod, the freshest fish I've ever had (and I love my fish) and it was a lovely thick piece cooked to perfection. It was served with asparagus and a variety of fresh vegetables also cooked expertly. The butter sauce was divine! My husband had the lamb curry which had a lot of good sized chunks of lamb in it and again was perfect. Not our first visit, had many tasty meals here, it just gets better and better. Highly, highly recommend this exquisite charming country pub with impressive decor and food to match!”

“We went for lunch on a Tuesday myself, wife and baby. Food was delicious. We asked for a table with space for the pram and my mobility aid and the lady showing us to the table was so polite and moved chairs out of the way to make our table more comfortable for us. It’s a small thing but when you’re disabled and have a newborn small things like that can make a big difference. Our server Beth was great, very polite and helpful. The food was great. The menu has changed since last time I visited but it was delicious.”

“As a registered disabled person who often needs access to a toilet quickly, I found myself in need of such facilities. I entered the pleasant pub and spoke with the bartender. She kindly showed me to the disabled toilet which was much appreciated. I did not have time to stay for food or a drink, so thanked her before leaving. Such a kind welcoming person is lovely to find these days especially and for this I would highly recommend The Stag Inn, Rotherham.”
