βLovely staff and a nice welcome. Rooms really clean and tidy. Older style but so much more space than the new one we stayed in last night. Excellentβ
βThe hotel is in a good location, if you don't mind a walk into town. Amy on reception is amazing, she is so friendly and helpful. We will definitely return!β
βJust to say the service was exceptional from front desk through to the health club reception staff. Special mention to Evie and Eleanor who served us our breakfast. They were friendly, welcoming and professional. Final mention to Sandra, the chef who cooked a lovely breakfast!β
ββοΈβοΈβοΈβοΈβοΈ The customer service was exceptional- genuinely friendly, attentive and very personal. The team were incredibly helpful with our booking, not just pointing us to a number or system, but actually taking the time to help and find a solution that worked for our family. That personal approach made such a difference. The hotel itself is beautiful, the spa is fantastic (exactly what we needed!), and breakfast was absolutely fab- great quality, plenty of choice and a relaxed atmosphere. Itβs a very family-friendly hotel where you genuinely feel looked after from start to finish. Weβve stayed before and will happily return again. Highly recommend for comfort, great service and a touch of luxury.β
βI only stayed for one night and I was unfortunately trying to sleep in the annex, room number 40. The connecting doors between each of the rooms should be bricked up to ensure some sense of security and safety for anyone staying. This would also block out the noise experienced from the persons next door. I experienced very little sleep due to the people in the next room who would not shut up all night, music, talking very loudly, notifications ringing out very loudly on their phones and one of them who regularly went outside to smoke would cough and cough very loudly and wretch and spit through out the night. The hotel I accept is very old some of the profit from the hotel should be used to fix it up it is in great need of it. I heard on multiple occasions customers complain that their bed was broken and they had paid a great deal of money. On a positive side the staff are wonderful they deserve better surroundings to do their job. Anyone in the hotel business would snap them up. They are very nice people. The chef is excellent and has a beautiful soul. The owner needs to wake up and see what wonderful staff he/she has and start putting the profits back into the business before the building falls down around him/her. Thank you for the kindness shown to me by the staff they are very professional and deserve better.β
βPleasant overnight stay on way to Alton Towers from Scotland. Will use this stop-over again. Despite rating of 2*, the travel lodge was staffed with helpful, polite, friendly, courteous staff who were on hand for all our questions, including local weather reports! Met all the needs for an overnight stay. Entrance, hallway, reception and room were all clean and tidy.β
βMy dog Suki and I had a wonderful Xmas stay at this hotel. The reception staff were awesome especially Mia and Tom who both went above and beyond to make our stay a pleasant one. We will definitely return to this hotel very soon. Many thanks to you all.β
βExcellent holiday home. Very comfortable surroundings and the owners are lovely too. Be aware, the track to the farm is unpaved for quite a way, and a standard car may hit the road in places if not taken at a very slow pace?β
βBrilliant doggy care. Fully recommend.β
βGreat care given by experienced caring staffβ
βVal took absolutely amazing care of my 3 rats whilst I was on holiday. Couldnβt recommend her more!β
βI wouldn't choose anywhere else for my bunny Hagrid to stay, and the same goes for all my previous rabbits. Chris and Bev are amazing with the rabbits and understand each Rabbits unique personality, and care for them with love and affection as if they were their pets too. My rabbit is what the vets class as fiesty and certainly likes things her own way and let's you know when she isn't happy. But Bev and Chris take this all in their stride and care for her amazingly. Hagrid also has a all veg and hay diet and that's no problem at all during her stay and they don't mind if I message them for an update, I also love receiving all the amazing videos of her stay with them. Thank you so much Bev and Chrisβ
βWe stayed here as a stopover on a long journey from Scotland to Kent and were very pleased with the service and the breakfast particularly. The hotel is currently undergoing some renovation but this did not impact our stay and it is a little dated in places but our room was spacious, clean and warm. For the price we paid for a night's stay and breakfast we felt it was very good value for money.β
βTHIS REVIEW APPLIES TO THE RESTAURANT ONLY. A new Indian restaurant has restaurant has recently opened at Cottons which is in the centre of village. Beautiful food which can be modified to suit your tastes, good bar, new restaurant and friendly, knowledgeable staff. Does a take out service. Great value for money.β
βIncredible service. I broke down and managed to get my car into the car park at this hotel. Dylan was working the night shift on reception and was so helpful. He was very helpful in getting me any help needed and when I eventually needed to book a room he got this sorted for me very quickly and even accommodated really well for my dog. Then when checking out in the morning, the lady on reception was also incredibly helpful, friendly and accommodating, especially for my dog once again. I just wanted to say thank you so much for being so kind and helpful when I was in a tight spot. The best experience I could have from the loveliest staff.β
βWe didn't have a room, we drove there for afternoon tea, and although they do not do afternoon tea, we were served by wonderful staff, who accommodated us just for the tea we had. BUT they even went the extra mile by offering to cook us something. There are tepees and an outdoor ceremony space. So much to enjoy, in a place we found by accident and needed a coffee. Would honestly highly recommend this venue for what ever event you have coming up.β
βThe best and most relaxing break I've had. Our hosts thought of everything to make things easy, from the brew stuff already on site to the hot tub being ready as soon as we got there. A quiet and peaceful setting, far enough away from the hustle and bustle but not too far away.β
βLovely staff, lovely rooms, not super modern, but have everything. Stairs are a bit dated, but it totally suits the building, superbly clean. We would definitely stay here again, especially for the price. Ample car free parking. If you're a train enthusiast, this is a must! It's opposite the train station. We visited Stoke on Trent and Nantwich, and both 20 minutes drive away. There were many more places about it, but we only stayed 2 days. Near Tesco express, macdonalds and loads of food delivery places.β
βBrilliant location. Right in the centre of Buxton which is a short walk to get too. The hotel is on a hill and may be too steep for those with mobility issues. There is plenty of parking which cost Β£5 for 24hr. The hotel is very large but very clean. We didn't see dust, marks ect. Check in was friendly and easy. The staff are so warm and welcoming. The lobby is very large and grand and plenty of seating. The building is very old, however the decor and furniture is not. The price of a night stay with half board was excellent. Couldn't fault the hotel. The location is excellent. Just note the hotel is on hill.β
βVery comfortable. Large room, comfortable beds and good bathroom. The decor is rather outdated, but that's no problem. Excellent location opposite Stoke Station. Nice hotel bar too.β
βThe crown is under new management. They are working really hard to bring it back to its former glory. All the staff are lovely and the hotel has become a very nice place to stay. It's the perfect location for visiting the town with its many independent cafes and shops.β
βHad a great stay here. Room was very spacious indeed. Great value for money. No tea or coffee in room, not an issue as they had it availible free downstairs. Also no food served here but lots of places near by that do. My shower did not work but the friendly guy at reception fixed this within 10 minutes by changing the shower head.β
βStayed here last weekend in a family room. 2 adults 2 children. Had booked another hotel up the road that turned out to be a nightmare. Arrived at the hotel, plenty of room to park, yes it is on street but lots of space. Door was closed when we arrived didn't find this a problem, lady who was working reception answered really quickly and welcomed us in. Check in was smooth and easy. The receptionist was amazing, made us feel at home. (Wish I knew her name but she has red hair) hotel felt really secure, door closed most of the time to stop just anyone walking in off the street. The stair way upto room was very clean, there is a patch of damage to the decor on the way up but really not a problem and probably to be expected in a building of such age. Landing corridor to room all really beautiful with some lots of character, (chandelier, balcony) room was really nice, so clean so big for a family of 4. No issue in room with any facilities or cleanliness. Staff happy to help and really couldn't be nicer. Location is brilliant too, nice restaurant across the road, local shops near by and water park and money forest just a few mins away. Overall had a really nice time staying here and would definitely stay again. Thank youβ
βWe had a wonderful experience at Wheeldon Trees Cottages. We stayed for 2 nights at Elliott Cottage. It was a good size for 4 people - the living area, bathroom, and kitchen was spacious but the rooms were a little tight. We received a lovely welcome basket and the owners had fantastic attention to detail, leaving headtorches for night walks, maps of nearby walking trails, and an honesty shop stocked with essentials. I would highly recommend staying here if you want a quiet getaway with lovely scenery but I would be careful on the drive up as being so remote, the roads are a little tricky to navigate.β
