The park is well-maintained, with clean paths, lovely gardens, and plenty of places to sit. There’s a nice mix of open areas, trees, and a small lake that attracts ducks and birds. “I've recently been traveling to many of the green spaces around North Birmingham in search of wildlife. Although this is a small country park, the abundance of wildlife is there to see. Today I have Blackcap, Long Tailed Tit, Buzzard, Whitethroat, Parakeets, Chiffchaffs (all in my photos) other birds I have seen on my walk include, Goldfinches, Robins, Wrens, Blue Tits, Great Tits, Magpies, Crows and I heard that a muntjac deer was seen today as well. Newhall Valley Country Park is a hidden paradise in an urban area.”

The improvements in their swimming and confidence in the water have been worth every penny, and the enthusiasm and genuine sense of care from the likes of Lillia and Dan who have coached my current two kids has been stand out (a big compliment as I know through running my own coaching business the challenge of developing and retaining exceptional coaches)”

“I love walking my dog around the boating lake and watching the boats when the club has an event. I am, however, very worried about the Environment Agency’s plans to flood the parkway as part of a scheme to allow development downstream. We need to protect our green spaces. Weoley Hill and Manor parks are also included. People need to know so they can object to it. It will involve 3 metre high embankments being built and the relocation of the old boat house. Having recently seen the sewage on the path in Bournville Park - How can we be sure there won’t be sewage in the flood waters as well?”

There are a whole number of tarmac routes - perfect for gentle strolls and those either less able or with push chairs to enjoy this lovely place and for those that want a path a little less travelled, then there are plenty of grass rides, open meadows and paths weaving between the woods. “Been here many times over the years but came today as part of a nature themed walk. There is a small car park at the main entrance with bike racks just further in the site. Such a beautiful place to visit at any time of the year to be absorbed in the natural beauty. Vast range of trees, plants and birds. There is a map of the site at the entrance to help plan your walk and identify places of interest. You need to wear sensible shoes as sections of the paths are muddy, especially after rainfall. Great place to bring children as it really is a wild playground for them. Those in wheelchairs will find parts of the site difficult to access. No toilets here.”

Historic mill pond, with the remnants of the mill wheel and race, dating back almost 300 years, all cared for by a volunteering workforce. A pair of swans live here and have five our six signets each year. You can watch them grow over the months from fluffy little grey things into the majestic beasts they are.
