“We stayed at the house at york lakeside lodges. Beautifully decorated for Christmas. We stayed 2 days to visit york Christmas Market. Only 6 min drive to york city. Staff were helpful, lovely location, good amenities.”

“Stunning hotel with beautiful preserved features, apparently it used to be a manor house and has been used for a hospital in wartime. You can feel the history when you walk through the door. Staff were welcoming when I arrived very late and everyone I encountered was friendly and helpful. The room was lovely with everything I needed, quality toiletries, a comfortable bed and powerful shower. Location was perfect for me, a short drive from the town centre. I was lucky enough to get free street parking right outside the hotel (6pm-8am, then you get an hour so can actually park until 9am). I would definitely stay again and hopefully for longer next time!”

“Clean, comfortable, peaceful and cheap. Lots of parking and convenient for the university and the local buses to get into the city centre, which run often and have a reasonable price. We arrived late and left early, not having any food and so cannot comment on that.”

“We have stayed in this hotel 3-4 times a year for 6 years and we love it. Great location, clean rooms, great staff, you have everything you need and the breakfast is amazing! I arranged this trip as a suprise for my husband for Christmas and posted some decorations to add to the festive magic! See you next time!”

“Perfect location to the centre, I've stayed here twice. First time went smoothly lovely clean room. Second time, our bathroom toilet and shower overflowed from blocked drains. We were quickly changed rooms to freshen up before leaving for home. Would definitely recommend and will be staying again.”

“Amie is amazing!! We have used her for a few months now after having a bad experience with a previous dog walker. She put our mind at ease straight away as she was a natural with our 2 Dachshunds. She's very punctual, always leaves the dogs as clean as she finds them, changes the walks so they get to experience new surroundings and great at communicating with us daily whenever we want to amend or add days to walk them. Thanks so much for loving them as much as we do and taking care of them whilst we are working.”

“Location is perfect you are right in the middle, lady on the desk wasnt the nicest, but the rooms were spacious and considering your in the centre, the noise outside doesn't effect you too much! Lovely stay!”

“Evening staff at receotion was really a top bloke. Really helped alot and had a chat for about 20 minutes. Quite remote for halal food but nothing uber eats or deliveroo can't fix but extortionate prices. Room was okay, cleanliness could have been better and a bit of a maze to get to the room. The room i asked for was on the ground floor and at furthest away from the road noise. Reception made the stay memorable and hence why the 5 stars. Thank you to the receptionist for the guidance and for the chat.”

“Lovely clean, newly renovated hotel. We stayed in a family room which had 4 large single beds, perfect for a family, we all had plenty of room and space. Staff were lovely, professional and happy. Breakfast had everything we needed and filled 4 tummy's for a day exploring York. Location was spot on with everything in walking distance. Would definitely stay here again”

“Excellent place to stay for quiet and to be honest it's why we went. The carriage has everything needed for a comfy and pleasant stay and the owners are very friendly and welcoming. Skipwith common was excellent for the dog. Loved the place and will return. It should go without saying but you will need a car if you intend on going to towns and villages. Can't speak highly enough of Skipwith Station, book it.”

“We stayed at Ascot House for a few days last week. This is our 3rd visit to York, and our 3rd time staying here. As always it was a pleasure. June , the proprietor is so lovely, as are all the staff. The room was very spacious, comfortable bed , fabulous bathroom. It is in a great location, a short stroll into town. “Have been going here twice a year since before COVID, the leaflet really does not do it justice. Rod and Peggy cannot do enough for you. You only have to ask. I am a wheelchair user and there is plenty of room for me to move around. I also do craft stuff, so if my husband wants to do something I can stay in and he can go where he wants. I cannot recommend this place enough, nor the amenities, and York is not that far away, and the Designer Outlet is even closer. You will also fine the Park and Ride here and use this bus into York saves all the hassle of driving around Looking for car parking.”
