“Oh Thursday night, the week’s old friend, When work and woes begin to end. At The Wellington, the faithful flock, To test their brains and beat the clock. And there she stood — the quiz queen gemma, But no, not Gemma… our legend EMMA! With question sheets and mic in hand, She ruled that pub like trivia land. From general knowledge to music scores, From capital cities to dinosaur wars, She fired off rounds both fierce and fair, While pints and laughter filled the air. The tables buzzed, the pencils flew, As Emma grinned — “Right, round two!” A sports one next, we all went blank, (Except old Dave — he’s basically a tank). “Oh dear,” she said with a cheeky grin, “Guess again, you might just win!” And somehow, through the hazy din, We found our luck — a quiz-night win! The picture round? A test of sight! “That’s Boris… or is it Dwight?” The room went mad, confusion spread, (We wrote “Shrek” — close enough, we said). The music round — what a delight! From ABBA gold to Blur’s “Parklife.” Half the pub began to sing, And The Wellington walls did almost ring! Emma’s timing — sharp, precise, Her banter warm, her jokes concise. “You’re wrong — but close,” she’d sweetly tease, And somehow make defeat a breeze. Each score announced, suspense ran high, The losing team still aimed for pie. The winners cheered, the rest said “next week!” For Emma’s quiz is far from bleak. The beer was cold, the chips were hot, The laughter thick — we drank the lot! And in that pub, beneath its beams, We lived the Thursday quizzer’s dreams. So here’s to Emma, bright and bold, Whose quiz nights never once grow old. The Wellington thrives because she’s there — With humour, heart, and trivia flair. “Nice pub with a good atmosphere, friendly staff and tasty reasonable food. Near two main route bus stops. We went on a Wednesday evening and it was a good place to have a catch up after work.”

“Absolutely fantastic hotel - have been here twice this year as a getaway from Bristol. Stunning grounds and building, staff are really friendly and helpful. Rooms are gorgeous and spacious, large comfortable beds. Loved walking around the arboretum. Great value for money as room cost includes use of spa and breakfast too. Have stayed during off season and always really buzzing and great atmosphere in the bars, often live music in the Atrium. Would highly recommend!”

“We held a small family birthday party here. The girls that worked here were very hard working and attentive. The rooms are a good size for a small family gathering. My food was tasty, but a few that ordered the roast beef said it was slightly tough. Free parking spaces were available.”

“Virtual check in ridiculous as some people can't do it.if they dont have a phone. One towel for 2 adults gross Grubby looking dated decor throw cushions on couch look like charity shop buy. Access from lift to door looks like trashy council estate. Screaming kids outside so.had to keep windows shut and boil. Compared to Radcliffe St this was a dump we prefer the human touch not Virtual rubbish. Being forced to park in the Galleries overnight having to cart luggage all over the place and not being able to relax .....shoddy”

“The hotel staff are so helpful! We stayed here for 1 night as good location without the price tag for a gig. We had an issue with Expedia booking an extra room on our booking. We were left feeling frustrated as not able to be resolved but, the staff were so reassuring that they would help resolve this. A huge thank you to Lloyd front reception for being so supportive and professional in helping to manage the situation. From checking in to leaving the staff have been so welcoming. The pub garden was perfect for a few drinks in the sunshine before heading into the centre. Will definitely stay again.”

“This guesthouse is very well-situated, near the center of Bristol, 5 mn walk , located in a quiet neighborhood. The rooms are clean and comfortable. But the front hall is not very cosy. Only tables and chairs. Maybe you could make this room more warm and welcoming by adding sofas, sofa chairs and some decorations. The staff is very friendly. It was our first stay at this guesthouse and if we were to return to Bristol, we would stay here again.”

“Didn’t stay in the hotel but had a very delicious lunch in the restaurant. An incredible range of gluten free options, was a real find for a coeliac. Then had a drink in a very pretty, secluded garden. Lovely staff too”

“Our stay at The Bear of Rodborough was full of countryside charm, complete with the occasional roaming cow making its way between the fields. It’s a wonderfully peaceful setting that feels like a proper escape from the hustle of everyday life. We stayed in a spacious and comfy room with stunning views overlooking the hills, which made for a lovely start and end to each day. The food was great, though there was a slight delay in service due to a couple of staff members being off sick. That said, the lady who served us was brilliant, warm, apologetic, and really looked after us, which more than made up for the wait. The outdoor seating area is also a highlight, perfect for relaxing with a drink and enjoying the scenery. The only minor downside was the persistent wasps, who seemed very keen to share our wine! All in all, a charming stay in a beautiful location, and we’d happily return for more countryside calm and character. Such a wonderful place.”

“Lovely apartment , perfect position for the Christmas Market, the only thing was we didn't realise it was three twisty sets of stairs and we had my 90 year old mum with us, but it didn't spoil it for us”

“What a gorgeous stay we had at the Beechfield house. It felt that you stayed at a relative’s house by how much staff is relatable and approachable. The food is very good too, breakfast super fresh and a good portion. The room was spectacular, really pleasant view was an extra, shower super powerful! Loads to do around or just a simply walk is breathtaking! We would definitely be returning!”

“Ideally-placed accommodation on the Cotswold Way that helps shave off several miles from the trail to Dursley. The rooms are just fine for tired walkers! More importantly, the hospitality here is WONDERFUL, and the food here is DELICIOUS! We had a wonderful stay and were baffled at some of the negative reviews below. Kate and Tom are working hard every single day trying to keep thousands of people happy, give them some grace and enjoy their amazing hospitality!!!”

“Absolutely amazing stay, cannot fault the staff. Nothing is to much trouble. So friendly from morning until night. The food is incredible. (Ex chef and the steak is the best I have tasted in years) They involved the kids and adults in their entertainment and gave good prizes. Off park things to do within 10 minutes either direction. For anyone looking for a relaxing family stay then this is the place.”

“The George Inn is located in the beautiful Wedmore village, an absolute gem. The staff were really friendly and the food was great. It’s a beautiful location and I would recommend it if you’re passing through this quaint English village.”

“Incredibly cheap room: £52.99 that was very clean. The a/c made a noise but we didn't need it so I switched it off. Our room 204 had a nice view towards fields. The car park was large. The staff without exception were all very friendly and helpful. River on reception greeted us and gave us information about restaurant times, etc. Tyler in the restaurant was very helpful. I don't know the name of the lady in the restaurant in the morning but she was very friendly. We prepaid the two course meal deal dinner (£29 for 2 adults) which was excellent value although choices were limited. I had a knickerbocker glory - hadn't had one in years. There was a bit of confusion when ordering as we had to choose what we wanted for each meal deal separately (small surcharge for one item) and drinks were a third transaction. We also prepaid the unlimited breakfast (£20.90 for 2 adults) which was super. The hotel looks to be very new and was spotless.”

“First off, this accommodation is one of two cottages on a former farm. It's also on the Somerset Levels, so those expecting an urban experience should look elsewhere. We booked this accommodation since we were visiting family nearby. When we visit again, Burnt House will definitely be on our speed dial. The cottage is clean and evidently the result of a recent build/remodel. It's within 1/3 miles of two village pubs.... if you do a search in Google Maps you'll see how few and far between pubs are in this general area. The closest pub (The White Horse) has excellent food.”

“Popped in for food as we were on a stop over from Cornwall. Food was tremendous and reasonably priced too. Had the Lamb shank and it was a huge portion. Partner had the Blackened cajun chicken and hers was lovely too. In a great location and the staff were great too. Fantastic!”

“Great place to stay! The rooms are freshly renovated and feel brand new. Super comfy bed and a small but cozy bathroom. The pub downstairs, owned by the host, has a great vibe with friendly locals. There are nice restaurants and a spar 2 in the same street. Bus stop right at the door takes you to the old town, or it's an easy 30-minute walk. The host was very responsive and even left us some Easter treats. We highly recommend staying here!”

“Lovely hostel up a hill. Getting to and from it is an adventure for the children, and me! Stayed in a nice, private ensuite family room. spacious self catering room. Doesn't have a cooker but has air fryer ovens. Pleasant atmosphere. Amazing views. I would advise taking additional pillows with you. We have now stayed at a number of YHA hostels. Always positive and good value for money. Thank you YHA Bath.”

“We’ve popped in a few times over the years for drinks, and the service has been a bit up and down — but tonight was honestly wonderful! Even with the Christmas lights switch-on and the place being really busy, Luke made sure everyone was seated and served quickly, all with a big smile. He even came to find us personally when a table became free, which made us feel so welcome. Thank you, Luke you truly made our night!”

“The suites were absolutely amazing! Paris and Hannah were amazing with us and made sure we were taken care of constantly! Location was amazing as you are really in the center of bristol. Warm rooms and high end luxury! Suite 3 has an amazing view! Thank you for such a lovely stay! Will definitely be coming back!!!”

“The perfect house for a party! Stayed as a large group for a hen party and this house had it all! Multiple rooms with en-suites, lounge, pool room, games room, disco room and bar. Perfect location with multiple shops just round the corner. Thank you Pete & Matt for your hospitality, it didn’t go a miss!”

“Very convenient location. 10-minute walk to departures (even with suitcase), and felt very safe even at 3am. Check-in instructions were clear and accurate, and no issues with room. The fan by the bedside was a good touch.”
